I went to this restaurant a couple times, but when I went last week, it was special becuase I got to sit at the sushi bar. Usually it would be crowded and the sushi bar would be full. This time I was really luck to sit up there! Why I like sitting up there is because I get to see how the chef makes the sushi. It was really cool!
This time i went with my mom and a friend, Auntie Yvonne. We all loved the food especially my mom becuase we had a very tiring and busy day,s o my mom was really stressed. However, once my mom got into the food she felt much better.
I loved the Zara Soba becuase I think it is a very unique kind of cold noodle dish. My favourite part was when the plain rice came and I got to use the bamboo mat from the noodle dish and the made the rice into a long roll liake haw the chefs do, but they do it much better, of course.
This is a very delicious restuarant to go to. It is not like other normal Japenese restuarants. Seto is like the most perfect and delicous place on earth! -

I would NOT give an over all rating of 4 star or higher. Maybe this restaurant has been in business TOO LONG. There are many others in the same area or near by is better then them.
My colleagues were thinking to have a Japanese food for lunch, however, not many good Japanese restaurant open on Monday (such as Sushi Hachi and Manzo). That's why we were there.
It's quite pricey, coz it run by Japanese chefs and are made with great care of food.
Deluxe sashimi platter -Tuna, Salmon, White Fish, Tako, Hamachi and Hokki, it was fresh and tasty.
Sushi - Botan Ebi, scallops, tako, hamachi, saba. It's fabulous.
Dynamite Roll - it was quite soaky.
Chopped scallop cone - Just ok.
Chawanmushi - steamed egg custard was watery and salty. -

Great Sushi if you're on a layover between flights or have just spent the day shopping at Daiso. Check this place out.

I have been looking for the best sushi in Richmond. I believe I have finally found it tucked away in a little shopping centre. The atmosphere here is the best I have found anywhere. It is quiet, perfectly lit, and they play baseball on the tv screens. Very Japanese.
The service is great, the chefs are Japanese, and the ownership cares about sushi, not just making money. This is the most important part. There aren't huge groups of obnoxious people all around you, like AYCE. If you appreciate a relaxed place, this is the place for you. -

I like this place :) The service is good and the food is yummy. I would go back there more often, but I found its a bit pricey for me. I was just there tonight with my mom and brother. We ordered, bbq mackerel with a bowl of rice, 3 tuna toro sushi, 2 salmon toro sushi, 2 unagi sushi, and a bowl of miso ramen. All that was $50 including tip. It is a bit more expensive than, lets say all you can eat sushi, but you do get the quality and authenticity. Give it a try!
Parking: theres a large parking lot and its free :) -

VERY GOOD!!!
I dined at SETO on the recommendation of a fellow reviewer and like this place a lot.
The menu selection is terrific...and the sushi and food is fresh and expertly prepared.
What is lacking for this restaurant to achieve greatness is location and presentation.
It's a terrible and hidden place to find. The restaurant is deceptively large when u enter, you wouldn't know it by the entrance. There's ample parking, but this particular lot is small and cramped and almost always jammed full. There's never parking near the restaurant - Its one of those lots that u find yourself getting your car trapped and needing to back out the entire way to escape. When you finally do get a spot, you almost expect to get a "door prize" ding as the spaces are EXTREMELY cramped and narrow.
The restaurant decor is extremely dated and frankly uncomfortable and dingy. There's a tacky foyer with christmas lights (umm this is august). That nearly made me do a 180.
The menus are drab, and sticky with murky pictures of the dishes. Not representative or appetizing...but the food more than makes up for it. -

Seto is a family favourite and we have been regulars for years. My mom is a big fan of ordering multiples of the family boat ($48) when there are a bunch of us. It comes with a good assortment of cooked and raw food and the presentation is fantastic.
My sister and I have a ritual (but sporadic) super indulgent lunch of marinated tuna ($7, not too saucy, on the sweet side, garnished with a nice sprinkle of chopped green onions), vegetable gyoza ($4), and ebi sanshoku don ($26, generous portions of uni, ikura, and amaebi over rice).
Each day, the list of the freshest sashimi offerings are updated. My seasonal favourites include: lobster and amaebi served with the heads deep fried.
The Japanese servers are super attentive too and the tables separated by tall paper dividers provides an intimate setting. -

Really great fresh fish and reasonable prices.
Seto recently went under a renovation and the room looks more modern with cleaner lines. Friendly staff, however they can be a bit slow at times.
Overall the food does the talking at Seto and it is excellent and definitely one of the top sushi restaurants in the lower mainland. -

This place was meant to satisfy our goal of eating sushi in canada and it did. Tucked way behind the olympia centre, we arrived 15 minutes before last call and they definitely welcomed us in. The waitresses were super friendly. The layout of this place is brilliant. Imagine sitting in a table paneled off from other tables--cubicle style! What a concept! Kudos for making it more intimate and not being distracted by other customers.
we ordered:
miso ramen w/ half roll futomaki. . .10.75 ----delicious and what a deal. the noodles were exactly the way I like it--chewy
pumpkin tempura. . .6.5----first time having this and tastes like yam tempura
large house roll. . .14 ----8 fat pieces rolled with imitation crab meat, fat slice of fish(don't recall what it was), shrimp tempura and long bean tempura, the whole roll filled my mouth and satisfied my taste buds
spicy tuna. . .3.5 ----spicy goodness, generous amounts stuffed inside
chicken teriyaki bento box. . .10 ---- brother had this and it came with fat slabs of sashimi,
okonomiyaki. . .7.95 ---- japanese pancake, arrived sizzling hot with bonito dancing on top, chewy seafood pieces. reminds me of a breakfast omelet
negi hama. . .3.5 ----this is a must whenever I got out for sushi and just the taste I expect it to be
The service was nice. I loved the overall bubble dining feel and felt like we were the only one in the restaurant. The waitresses would occassionally pop in to check in if we needed anything. And there was a japanese song was playing and I wanted to know the name of it. The waitresses had to convene to figure out what it was and 3 minutes later I left with its title. Quite a lovely restaurant. -

My search for good Japanese restos in Richmond is finally coming to an end - I have a few on my list! Kiyo (on Cambie and No 5) is still one of my favorites, but I heard of Seto through friends and am so glad to find one a little closer to my work.
This is a lovely spot to eat - good service although they could check in a little more frequently for drinks. Food comes at a nice pace. It's a nice quiet resto in a strip mall near Krusty's/Caps bicycle shop - don't let the exterior deceive you! Decor inside is nice and tables are separated by screens for privacy.
Food is excellent quality! Nice variety of fish and wonderful quality. Beautifully cut and presentation is excellent. I don't think I've had anything I didn't like here with my usual mix of aji, unagi, salmon and hamachi sushi. They offer cooked dishes as well.
Prices are a bit steeper than some of the other choices in the area, but this and Kiyo are the best and most authentic in Richmond and well worth it. -

On the more expensive side but the sushi is sublime. An authentic experience and a must if you're in Richmond's city centre area. I suggest guests to sit at the sushi bar and order nothing but nigiri sushi.

I can't say that the sushi or other standard Japanese restaurant dishes here differ that much from other places that provide reliably fresh offerings.
What is noteworthy, however, is what is found not on the menu, but what is found posted up on the ever-changing whiteboards hanging within each cubicle or from the ceilings. There is a large variety of fresh sashimi, ranging from salmon toro to kampachi to blue fin. If you're lucky, they may even offer live uni, ebi, or even abalone. These range anywhere from $18 to $30 (most around $24). A small order (usually half of listed price) gets you 4 pieces, whereas a large order gets you 8.
There is also a small selection of a la carte specials, which most recently included a BBQ hamachi head. A generously sized serving of the tenderest portion of the fish, a treat if fish cheeks ranks high on your "most delicious things I love to eat" list. -

Delicious fresh authentic food. Highlights are the sake (salmon) ochazuke, chawanmushi, tempura and aji sushi. Downsides are that scallop rolls are messy as scallops chopped too small so it falls apart to pick up and fried foods (e.g. tempura, chicken karaage) tend to be slightly under-seasoned and lightly browned vs. properly seasoned and crispy.

Always a go to place for decent sushi that taste great and don't bottom out your wallets. I think it is one of a few long established sushi places that's beating out the all you can eat crowds. Ambiance is good, and they have daily fish specials daily. Their sea urchin (cold uni dish), when on special, is a must.
