I've already expressed my love for Sephora, but I just want to add a new story that demonstrates just how fab the big S is.
I bought a beautiful new Urban Decay lipstick, took it home, and for the life of me, could not open it. It was totally stuck.
I brought it back to the store next day sans receipt (oops!) and explained the situation. The great girls spent about 15 minutes trying to open it with no luck. Even without a receipt, they exchanged for a new one no problem, and they even double checked that the new lipstick would open without a problem. Fab. Now that is real customer service!Listed in: Five Star Favourites, Girl's Day Out, No Boys Allowed, Cosmetics Shops

(an open letter)
Dear Sephora,
I always enjoy walking in your black doors and find myself in a world filled with glorious makeup. Most of the time, I have an idea of what I want. Some of the time, I don't. Either situation corresponds to me spending more money than I should at your establishment. You may be pricey, but you're the good kind of pricey. It's a worthwhile investment strategy.
Your staff are always friendly and knowledgeable, and for this I am happy. As I have a bit of a "funky" makeup style, they indulge me as I describe my desire for things like red eyeshadow and orange eyeliner (true stories!). And then they help me find what I want, and I leave, excited to play around with my new finds.
I also appreciate your flexible return policy. It's definitely come in handy a few times.
Unlike your cousin MAC (though I love you both, for realsies), you offer a wide variety of brands that one can choose from. I've become a bit of a brand groupie because of this ability to pick and choose.
Stay fierce,
Ngina -

Sephora is so freaking awesome.
Sure, it's often expensive and sometimes pretentious.
Sure, it can be pretty busy and overwhelming.
...But there's nothing like going to Sephora, dropping a pretty penny, getting your nice little bag of fancy schmancy beauty products wrapped like a present, and going home to feel all beautiful-like.
Their staff is nice, their makeup is great, their little testing stands are ideal, return policy generous, and the rewards program a nice cherry on top of this delectable beauty pie. -

I love buying high end make up, and after having several bad experiences with rude staff members at MAC, I decided to begin looking around for another place to shop.
A friend told me about Sephora, and the first time I shopped there I was very impressed with their customer service. They ask if you need help, and leave you alone if you dont. They do not follow you around, and the ladies working there are very friendly!!!
I will be spending my money at Sephora from now on. Fantastic place! -

Sephora, I expected more from you.
Sephora is a store that carries many many different lines (including their own) of cosmetics and other beauty products. The prices are pretty fair for the products and the quality of almost everything I've purchased there is excellent.
I am still disappointed, however. My tastes in cosmetics are fairly eccentric. The only cosmetic I wear on a regular basis is lipstick. Sure, I have the same neutrals as everyone else, but sometimes I like the option of something different. Like orange, yellow, green, or blue lipstick, for example. Sometimes I just have a very clear idea of what color I want, like a specific hue of red, or a neutral with a specific amount of shine.
When I'm looking for something unusual or specific, I can't find it at Sephora. You'd think with all of the different brands they carry I'd be able to find what I'm looking for most of the time. I've seen brands online that carry the stuff I imagine, so I know they exist. Hell, MAC alone sells more of what I like than every brand collectively at Sephora.
Everything they sell is the same old stuff; shopping anywhere else that sells a variety of brands (i.e. The Bay, Sears, Shoppers, etc) will get you the same thing (if not, the same color in a different brand.) What's the point, Sephora? -

I really LOVE coming to Sephora. The staff here are really good and they are here to help you. They carry every cosmetic line out there, except for maybe your drug store cosmetics. This is a one stop shop .
I always find what I'm looking for either in cosmetic lines or fragrance. I give Sephora a 5* simply because of their helpful staff and product availability. -

Like all girls, I love Sephora and was very excited when they added this location in Edmonton as it made Sephora much more accessible to me. It made the difference between me shopping at the store and shopping online.
The staff at this store seem to be far less helpful to me than what other girls seem to have experienced, however. I always have to seek out help and both times that I have, it was done in a rushed sort of way. One girl didn't have any advice at all when I asked for help deciding between two products. She basically just read off the label, which I could have done. Another girl, at a different time, rushed me through an explanation of two primers and then passed me off to another girl to get the samples, who did so in total silence. It was awkward.
Although I absolutely love that aspect of Sephora - the samples! It is better than buying and returning an item because you can compare what you are trying with other, similar products.
While I will definitely be returning it will be for the products, not the service. -

It's practically impossible for me to walk out of a Sephora empty-handed. Such an incredible selection of exquisite beauty products, both the fun and the practical, and I've come to depend on certain items that they carry as my must-have beauty staples.
One of those is the Sephora-brand pressed powder. I've had problems with the compact case in the past: the pin tends to come out and the thing opens and explodes all over my purse. I'd recently purchased one at the West Edmonton Mall location and lo and behold, a week later, my pressed powder was reduced to rubble in the bottom of my handbag.
I stopped into the Southgate Sephora intending to buy a new one, and as I was paying, inquired whether they had a complaint line. Turns out the cashier has had the same issues with the compacts in the past, and since I had the ruined product on me, she exchanged it, no receipt necessary, and gave me info on where I could send my grievances to the company.
Exceptional service, excellent selection - now if only I could afford to sample more of the many cosmetic delights! -

I love Sephora! Even though I wear the same makeup everyday, they catch me every time with their fancy displays and cute little travel sizes. Most of the brands can be found in a department store or a Shopper's Beauty Boutique, but they have quite a few exclusive brands including the house brand which is quite reasonably priced. The staff are nice and helpful, will leave you alone if you just want to browse.
They have a loyalty program that they're quite keen to sign you up for. You accumulate points ($1=1 point) that you can exchange for samples or little gift packs at the 100 or 500 point level. You also get a gift on your birthday!
I wish I had more money to spend on things I don't need here. -

I had my first visit at the new Sephora in southgate this weekend and I fell in love!
I liked Sephora before, and I used to get gift cards for Christmas and it would take me forever to get to WEM to spend them, so I am really happy there is one in southgate now.
I went here in search of foundation. A sales associate named Joyce walked by me and I asked if she could give me a hand. She happily went through some options in my price point and didn't try to tell me anything I couldn't afford. After going through about 5 options of brands, she asked me which one I would like to try. I chose the benefit foundation and she had me sit in a chair and she offered to apply the makeup to see if I liked it.
She went all out, and went through so many steps. Joyce also told me what she was doing while she did it. She applied a serum to my face, and then a primer and then finally, the foundation. She gave me samples of the serum and the primer for me to take home and try.
While she was doing my makeup, I noticed a tattoo concealer and made note of it to my boyfriend (I have been looking for a tattoo concealer for a long time) and she offered to try it on me. Because my tattoo is a little less accessible, I offered up my boyfriend's arm and she agreed to test it on his tattoo.
Joyce went out of her way to help me, which is a really nice change when you know someone is not working on commission. I love the makeup here and I love the staff.
I will be back. -

LOVE LOVE LOVE SEPHORA!! Because.. well shopping for cosmetics and skin care products isn't like shopping for clothes. With clothes you try them on, like it, buy it. But with skincare products you don't know how your skin will react to the product. And there's no use in spending big bucks on products that will cause irritation to your skin and cause breakouts or whatever and with sephora it's awesome cause you can return those products!
