Review from Sarah O.
Sephora is makeup heaven. Even if you don't wear too much of it, there is still something for everyone- from moisturizers to hair products to nail polish and perfume. I like this location better than the one at Pacific Centre simply for the layout. I love the occasional gay worker who is decked out in fabulous glitter and globs of lipgloss- they are so enthusiastic about helping a female with their beauty routine. Once I bought an eyeliner here and later decided it didn't suit me. I had opened it and used it and they still let me return it for store credit (I didn't have the receipt). I generally visit for face creams and feel that they have a good selection for it. The price is reasonable and they will give you samples of almost anything in the store.
Sephora is Awesome. Capital A. -

Such a love hate relationship I have with this place.
I cant seem to find the right person to help me. I always seem to be grabbing someone who doesn't have much product knowledge about the items that they sell and I feel like I am constantly re-directed to someone else.
Unless I do a quick run down and check out everything online first so i have a clearer choice in mind, I don't wander in there. The line up can be so crazy too.
However, I do love that I can find lots of special deals/packaged products that say, Shoppers wouldn't have. -

My make-up collection will tell you that I love Sephora. It's the perfect one-stop shop for all of your make-up needs, from perfume to lotion to eyeliner. It carries tons of brands, so if you're unhappy with one you can definitely find another to suit your needs. Some things are a bit pricey, but I've learned the hard way that it's worth spending some extra money to get quality product. One thing I like about Sephora is the points reward system, and the birthday gift!
This location is really clean and organized. The sales staff are friendly enough, but in general they were much friendlier at other locations I've been to. Also, they tried to tell me that their purple nail polish remover was the same exact formula as their red nail polish remover (minus the color of course). When I looked at the ingredient list, the purple nail polish remover contains ethyl acetate, and the red one contains acetone. This may not mean a lot to most people, but to a chemist, they're definitely not the same molecule. Minus one star for a chemistry fail, and for getting annoyed when I pointed that out.Listed in: 30 Day Yelp Challenge!

Great store, glad it opened in Richmond finally. This store has everything you could ever want. So many products available and always samples to try them before you buy them so you don't end up with a drawer full of stuff you don't use. Cant go wrong shopping here.

I spend so much on makeup and creams that I don't even want to know the exact amount. SEPHORA!
Sephora has most of the products and brands I need under 1 roof. You can also collect points on your purchases so you can redeem them for items throughout the year. (100 points gets you smaller items and samples while 500 points gets you bigger items and samples - I like to save for the 500 points since I find it's a better deal) Signing up for Sephora means you get a birthday gift every year. I just picked up mine which is a good sized Philosophy Birthday Girl shower gel, shampoo and bubblebath in one. Super cute and smells so good!
I find the staff at Metrotown are a lot better than the ones in Pacific Center. Metrotown staff are friendlier, more inclined to help you and generally happier. There are still times where I encounter the grumpy one, but for the most part, they are great. -

Godsend.
I was getting a little bored of the makeup selection at Metrotown, so this was much needed!
The place has taken me hours to walk through at times. There are so many different companies and products to try that it can get overwhelming.
Luckily, the staff is pretty helpful and even give you samples to try!
Also, if you sign up with them for the "beauty insider", you get a great birthday present! -
Review from Kat S.
I didn't really get the whole buzz about Sephora coming to BC until I tried this store out, since I was pretty unfamiliar with it in the States. I have been into the Metrotown location several times now and I am definitely a fan. I brought a friend in on the weekend who was also unfamiliar with it, and assumed, as I had, that it was just over priced cosmetics. Nope!
I love the customer service you get here. And now that the frenzy after it originally opened has died down, it is a very pleasant place to visit. I'm going to list some things like Rachel...
1. You can get samples of anything to take home or try anything out in the store. And they can be very generous with their samples, too. My boyfriend liked an energy splash but they were sold out at Christmas time, except the sample bottle. So the fellow who was helping me filled a few sample containers for me to take home to carry my man over until they got some in stock. Nice!
2. The Sephora brand products are reasonably priced, and offer a wide range of colours and fun packages (ie. Smoky Eye Effect, Angel Eyes, stuff like that).
3. They carry a huge selection of other brands, from Clinique, to Bare Minerals. Yes, they have a natural beauty products section, too, which is labelled separately.
4. The staff are knowledgeable, and patient. They will try their best to find what will work for you, or wait while you dig through your purse for your customer card.
5. There are a ton of fun little items to stock up on, like cute nail files, pink polka-dot tweezers, kits for whatever you need on the go (eyebrows, nails etc.), hair clips, make up applicators, and everything else in between. Great little stocking stuffers for the lady in your life, or for your bridesmaids presents kinda thing.
6. I am super sensitive to fragrances and for whatever reason this store doesn't bother me. They must keep a lid on their perfumes and things because normally when I walk through a department store's cosmetics section, the perfume is so overwhelming that I nearly pull a Mr. Bean and crawl across the floor to escape it, while choking and sputtering.
Bonus - if you sign up for their card you get free gifts at either $100 or $500, and a free birthday gift! -

I'm baaaaaack and in case you were wondering where I was I hit the grand opening of Sephora at Metropolis. All I can say is I am drooling and normally it is only a med-rare steak that has that effort. Sephora I am yours for life, unabashedly. I love that place. Yes, today was the grand opening and I expected chaos and yes it was super busy and super crowded but whoever taught these ladies customer service you did a damn good job. I have never been asked so many times if I was doing ok and if I needed any assistance. Total class act. And not your attitude drenched girls like at Mac; these girls went above and beyond...super nice. It surprised me cuz I am not used to this in retail.
I was immediately taken in by the inviting, clean, well put together store. And as soon as I walked in what did I see but Kat Von De products from LA Ink,,,,,so cool! Then I walked down another isle in amazement and saw Anastia's products, eyebrow shaper to the stars. I knew I was in huge, huge trouble at that point and tried to run but my feet wouldn't let me.
Then, I saw Philosophy and Cake products and that sinking feeling like I knew I was screwed quickly set in. Now I am a sucker for the scented bath products so I grabbed a bottle of candy corn which smells beyond divine and then I moved onto to Pumpkin spice and I inhaled deeply and grabbed a bottle of that. Then I seen Hope in a Jar, Oprah's moisturer. Oh my God, no wonder she loves it. It is like a cloud, so beautiful and feels wonderful. Then they strategically placed the Cake products beside all of this and I don't remember putting them into my carry-all but at check out there were 3 magical vanilla butters and carmel sugar kiss gloss and...... I moved over to the Opi nail products and saw the cutest french manicure kit that I just had to have. It was so sweet and all done from a tube you just swipe on.
I could have easily indulged in much much more and in the scheme of things it didn't matter how much I spent it was all in the experience. I signed up for my Sephora card and left with my tote bag in full view. After considering doing Sephora as my 100th review I found myself unable to as I am still caught up in the excitement. I love you Sephora, you are my new best find! -

Couldn't love this place more! I love that there is no pressure to buy here, goodbye make up counters at the bay for my favorite brands! Loyalty events and perks are nice, not amazing but decent. I love being able to log in and see every purchase I have made there in the last 5 years.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Sephora (should have a share in the company by now) but have not been a fan of the service at the Pacific Centre location so I was so very surprised and happy when I stumbled into the Metrotown location. I went into pick up an eye cream that I couldn't get at the Pacific Centre location and guess what, they had it!!! I was very excited to say the least and I am sure they were just as excited as I came out spending about $200 on that eye cream trip.
It is a little hard to find if you don't look it up and just try to find it on your own. Me, I like to know where I am going so I looked up the location online before I left work. For anyone that doesn't like doing that, it is on the floor just below the food court on the way to the Bay. so if you are like me and coming from the Skytrain, when you enter the mall take the strairs that are at Urban Behaviour and stay on that floor and walk to they Bay.
Now back to the store. It's clean, bright and the staff were so very helpful. I didn't have to go looking for them like I do in Pacific Centre. One thing I would like to see in all the stores is to have a stream line set up. I seem to get lost every time I enter a new store trying to find something but luckily the staff here were help my direction challenged self. -

Sephora is a fantastic place and my top choice for make up and skin care products because of their large selection and lots of staff on hand to assist. They are quite efficient with their line ups too. There is usually someone to greet you as soon as you walk in. I usually know where to go now. I'm so glad they carry Laura Mercier! When I purchased a gift card as a present, they wrapped it up so nice for me as well!

I had a tough time finding Sephora as I didn't see it listed in the Mall directory. Fortunately, I was able to quickly consult the Yelp app on my iPhone and found the number to the store. I called and they told me to find them right under the food court. Now you know too.
This location is smaller than the store in Pacific Centre, but I might just like it better anyway. I thought the sales associates at this location were probably the friendliest I've ever met in any Sephora. In other stores, they are often hard to track down, but at the Metropolis location it was like they were just waiting to help someone and I liked that! Helpful without being intrusive or pushy. Overall, a very pleasant shopping experience. -

I had only heard about Sephora from my girlfriends when they have gone across the border to shop. I now understand why they are such fans, or rather, fanatical, about Sephora.
I went into the Metropolis store and was assisted by both Robin and Sara. They both provided me with the following:
1) They listened - REALLY listened to my questions and concerns. I didn't feel frustrated that I was not being heard.
2) They made great suggestions and provided samples for items I was not sure about.
3) Let me try different products and steered me clear of ones they thought I might react to and explained why.
4) No PRESSURE - at no time did I feel pressured into buying a product.
5) INFORMATION, so much information about each line and the individual product that I could have spent all day there taking it all in.
I have to say I have not been this excited to be in, let alone part, with my money to a beauty company in at least 12 years. The main reason for that? The reps didn't know much about the products, or would try to sell me something I didn't want or they stop making/changed the product - totally irritating and not the best way to get me back into the store. I admit I had given up. But Sephora? They REALLY know their stuff!
Robin and Sara provided me with outstanding service. THANK YOU SEPHORA for hiring these two wonderful people who in my opinion, truly represent Sephora and what I've been looking for in a shopping experience.
Needless to say, I will be back and I am looking forward to it! -

I'd been waiting and waiting and waiting for Sephora to come to the lower Mainland. Now it's here. And there's a store in Burnaby. YAY!
I waited a week after the Grand opening and went during a weekday thinking the madness would have died down...slightly. It hadn't. BUT the place was still organized chaos (-: Clean and bright with shelves well-stocked and well-labelled. Even with all the shoppers greedily eyeing and sampling, there were staff at the front greeting and staff throughout the store circulating to make sure you're questions are answered.
They give 10 mins consultations for walk-ins or you can make an appointment for a 30 mins consultation. Both are free. I went for a 10 mins one. The makeup artist was friendly, asked a lot of questions and I ended up with an amazing look. Exactly what I wanted and with tips on re-creating it on my own.
I then walked around the store and ended up talking to another Sephora consultant about lipsticks.
There was a lineup at the checkout counter, but the staff there were quick, efficient and friendly.
It isn't often you get this kind of service from a busy, well-known retailer.
I love this store !!
