Judging from the two very different sides of the Seafood Shop's corner lot, you wouldn't be the first to confuse the shop for being two different businesses (If no one else has, I would've been the first). On the one side, there is a large UK flag hung above a sign that touts authentic English fish and chips. The permanent "daily specials" sign shows bad pictures of undifferentiatable fish and chip combos that frankly don't look all that appetizing.

On the other side, a similar sign features Korean lunch boxes above a warming tray of options. Seeing the ready made food made my decision a no-brainer. I was hungry and wanted my food pronto! After placing my "Combo #3, please!" order, the assumed son (of the Korean couple behind him) took a nervous look at his father, who then took a peek at the lidded fried rice and asked if I could wait two minutes. I found this a little strange, but agreed, paid, and told them to take their time before going off to pick up some bulk snacks.

When I came back a few minutes later, my foam take out box was sitting there on the counter. My bulgogi lunch box was served with rather dry fried rice, suspiciously dark yet flavourful japchae, overcooked veggie and shrimp stirfry, and a long and soggy spring roll that I couldn't even cut into.

The fresh smoked salmon, seaweed salads, marinated vegetables, and other assorted single serving appetizers looked good. I would come back to pick up specialty Korean groceries from the Seafood Shop. However, I wish they weren't sharing shelf space with uninspired and questionably aged pantry goods like mayonnaise and canned chili (of which they stock four different brands!). Does anyone actually come to Covent Garden market to buy canned goods that aren't even local or organic?
