I love the vibe here. It's cool yet relaxed, sophisticated but not pretentious, attributes that are difficult to attain in a lounge. This is definitely a place you should take your out of town guests to and show them that Winnipeg is not just a place for beer and wings (not that there's anything wrong with that). There's great lounge music but it's not overwhelming so you can easily hold a conversation. The room is dim on one side of the room but it has its touches of sparkle that enhances this chic room.
Personally, I think the wine flights are the way to go since there's so many wine choices. Many of the 3-3 ounce flights are $12-$20. Many of the wines by glass are available in the wine flights so it's great that you can try three predetermined wines and hone in on the one you really like out of the three. The stemless glasses are served on an ingenious little contraption that holds the glasses and the wine card which describes the wine you are tasting (see picture). I enjoyed the "Collezione Connection, Pt. 1" ($12.50) from the Sensi Collection, all Italian - Nero d'Avola, Primitivo and Shiraz. You can buy all three wines in the city at the specialty wine stores for about $14.99 per bottle. Though this place isn't set on serving only Italian wines, there are Australian, Spanish, Argentinian, Chilean and Canadian selections too.
Best to enjoy your wines with one or two of the small plates. I loved the crostini with Parma prosciutto, fig jam, and gorgonzola - it has all the flavours to enhance my glass of red. Though, the crostini was much larger than I anticipated, I enjoyed the two well sized portions with the perfect amount of fatty/salty tastes of the prosciotto, sweetness of the fig jam and the tang of the blue cheese. I've been here a few times and have never had a bad dish. The zucotto ($7) is a great dessert for the chocolate lover. It's a chocolate ganache dome with hazelnut-Frangelico mousse; sweet and rich without causing a cavity.
I think the service here is great - warm and friendly but not overbearing.
