Review from Erin U.
I recently discovered Kundalini yoga and I am sold on it!!! Semperviva offers all diff types of yoga at a decent rate. A friend recommended I come to this "dance yoga" and I was sold, got my 40 dollar new member first month. Great deal, 40 for unlimited yoga and tons of different types, they also have diff locations so depending where you are/what you are doing you can visit any studio. I am sold on kundalini as its the funnest workout ive ever had and i highly recomend it to anyone looking for a new yoga experience. Thanks gloria!!

Can I just say that this place is simply magical at 7pm in springtime. MAGICAL.
Picture this: you're chilling on a mat, the sun is setting, candles are lit, pink crystals are glowing.
Ohm...
I'm no hippie but boy was I having some kind of 'I am at one with the universe' moment. Not bad for a redneck girl!
I loved that the yoga instructor wasn't fully decked out in Lululemon. She was... so positive peaceful and natural. Her accent lulled as I stretched like I've never stretched before. After the session I had the best sleep I've had in months. Kudos to them.
It was a bonus that yoga mats are provided since I don't have one. Nice!
Now I will say that if you're living the high life the space might not be fancy-pants enough for you. The yoga room is quite plain, with a few support beams in the middle of the space. Do I need fancy though? Hells no! At $20 I found the visit to be pricey, but I s'pose that's just what the cool kids are paying these days. In the end it was worth it. I was sooo beyond relaxed. Yeah baby.
Food tip: If you're hungry after the stretch grab some healthy vittles at the restaurant down the hall. -

Yoga is one of the healthiest things I am addicted to (other than dark chocolate!) and Semperviva is where I go to get my daily fix! It likely is not one of the more "authentic" studios in town, but for convenience and variety I think it is top notch. All instructors are fresh faced, friendly, and enthusiastic. The studios are always clean and zen like complete with candles, yogic art and calming tunes. The monthly passes provide great value and motivate you to attend class regularly.
Semperviva is like the McDonalds of Yoga in Vancouver because they have so many locations and you can get what you want when you want it. From Hatha to Kundalini (my fav) they have you covered. Just make sure you put on your "pretty" yoga gear on and you will feel right at home! -

Yin with Diana was wonderful. She gave us bouncy balls to put in the muscle below your shoulder blade and it felt so good. Like all Semperviva studios, you're once again packed in like sardines.
We held the poses for a long time and I felt each stretch. I was really really stiff in my back and hips after a pretty active dragon boat practice the day before. She also walked around and adjusted people which is the first time I've experienced that at a Semperviva studio. The only thing I didn't like was that they let latecomers in after the class was well into the first meditation, it's distracting and not fair to those who come early to settle. -

Semperviva is great, because there are so many classes to choose from at so many times, that there is bound to be something good when you go! I've done Hatha, Yin, and Kundalini classes, with Kundalini being my favorite!
This studio is particularly good, because it's next door to another of their studios. So, if you're running late or the class is full, then you could probably go to a class next door, which usually starts 15 minutes later or so. Drawbacks are that the room does get a bit stuffy and with the windows open there is a lot of distracting street noise. But, Semperviva instructors make an effort to have good ambiance, so after a few minutes you forget about the noise! It's good to get there a bit early, because the classes do fill up. -

So relaxing, so helpful and so close to my house. The price is a little steep but what yoga place isn't

Semperviva has 4 studios with one more on the way. I like the convenience of the variety of classes and the multiple payment options. The atmosphere is friendly and open, and Semperviva isn't one of those elitist yoga studios that breed yoga purists.
The teachers are generally very considerate and provide many modifications for people with injuries. However, it can be hit and miss with the instructors. It really depends on your style. I generally like to stick with the hatha classes and have found Bernie to be a great instructor. He brings a lot of humour into the class and distracts you from how difficult the poses are. Lindsey is consistently good and likes to challenge you. Cameron is a decent instructor but he is clearly in love with the sound of his own voice. He does not stop talking for the entire 90 minutes, even during savasana. Dianna includes a lot of props in her classes, but I find her flows to be frustratingly slow.
I love the studio but I would suggest figuring out which instructors work for you, because it can get annoying if you're stuck with one who isn't your style. -

I'd been doing yoga on a semi-regular basis when I decided to try out Semperviva on Broadway, especially since i'd really liked the class taught by Cameron at their Granville location.
As usual the class began asking whether there were any injuries the instructor should know about. An older woman at the back of the room mentioned her knee problems. I'd been waiting in line for the bathroom (inside the studio) for awhile so I didn't pipe up with the same issue (I had to go bad), thinking it would already be covered off in modifications the teacher would give to this knee problem lady.
The class was pretty packed and the air seemed stagnant which is why I suppose the back door was open. It was a bit distracting to hear sirens and recycling pickers but I found a bit of zen to cling onto anyway.
The instructor seemed sweet and friendly, if not a little over the top cutesy, though I did appreciate how upbeat she was.
After hearing about the knee issues I was surprised that she'd decided to do a routine based on lunges, but I guess if that's what she'd been practicing, me and the poor lady would have to live with it and pay close attention.
Though I'd been careful as can be, halfway through the class my knee gave a crack and shot me a pain, hurt for about a week. Sadly, I've been off yoga for a month now and have to get some x-rays done.
I wouldn't expect something like this to happen in a low-impact Hatha class. That's why I go and steer clear of power yoga. -

5 stars because I LOVE their instructor Ingrid, she is soooo amazing!!! She also teaches at YYOGA, I highly recommend her. The studio was a bit confusing at first we actually walked into a restaurant across the street that had Sempeviva sign on it... apparently one of semperviva's rooms is behind this restaurant (which looked like they had some great food and smelled quite strongly like various Indian spices). After we made our way to the back of the restaurant we discovered a hidden yoga room! But, alas turns out our class was in the other building where the store is so we headed back out and across Trafalgar. The staff were friendly, and got us all checked in with our passport to prana's. The studio was a bit smaller than some of the other locations but I liked that there were less people in the class, just over 15 I counted (yes I count the people in my yoga class while im doing my warrior poses). I liked that they had candles lit, and i'm just such a fan if Ingrid so find one of her Hatha classes and jump right in!! I also brought my fiance to this one, and there were 2 guys including him out of the whole group. Like other semperviva studios the blue mats + props are provided and everyone cleans their own mats after class. The bathroom is in the yoga class room... and they have some closets in the same room to store your belongings as well.
