This place is terrific! Be sure to make a reservation, though. If you can, try to sit at the Chef's Table. Bring friends along and order at least 3 plates per person.
The service was very good, our drinks were filled promptly and efficiently.
The food quality was pretty standard, some dishes could stand to be hit with a pinch of salt before serving. The scallops were a bit overdone, but not to the point where they were inedible. The pork belly was cook perfectly.
I also ordered the Halloumi which was on special that night, Halloumi is a type of brined goat cheese that can withstand extremely high temperatures, therefor it is usually served grilled. After living in Cyrpus I have grown accustomed to eating grilled halloumi, Segovia's spin on a classic Cypriot dish was excellent, the fig added a nice touch.
My only complain about the entire meal is that... Our first dishes came out very quickly and back to back, which was good, we were able to finish our current dish before the next one arrived. However, our last two dishes had a very long cook time, so we were sitting there for about 10 minutes with nothing while we waited.

Segovia is DELICIOUS.
Dont be fooled by the small dishes, they will definitely fill you up. Its best to go with a group of people, order a few dishes and share amongst the group. Then you get to try a little bit of everything. The waiters are more than happy to explain what everything on the menu is as well. Super friendly service.
Seating is a little cramped, but cozy. And although there was an hour and a half wait the last time we dined at Segovia (they dont take reservations), it was well worth it once we got a table!
Hint: Literally everything on the menu is to die for, but I suggest also trying their wine. My favourite that they offer is the Bro Valero syrah. $50 a bottle. -

Hard to find during the day time (the sign is poorly display) and the number of $$$ is something you really have to watch out for.
The place has excellent service, it's not like they're hiding the costs from you or anything unlike some other places I have read the reviews on.
We had two house tapas:
A pork belly tapas which reminds me of crispy pata in terms of texture but mixed with some spices and flavoring that I can't accurately pinpoint. The closest thing I can say is the Filipino beef jerky which ironically is called beef tapa.
The other thing we had was spiced goat with pine nuts and a few slices of pita. Considering I don't really like goat, this was an excellent dish as well.
Both dishes are rich in flavor and texture. However, don't expect to be filled up. So my suggestion after my experience with this restaurant is eat some filler food before you go so you're not going to suffer too much from lack of food. We ended up going to Kawaii Crepe (which is where we ended up to fill our bellies up after eating at Segovia's), however another place you can get some filler if you don't mind the slow service is Toad (just get a nacho plate so you don't kill your taste buds too much) -

Segovia takes a bite out of Spain...literally. Tapas, small bites, have long been a favourite way of dining in the old country and now Winnipeg can enjoy it too!
A super-chic, sophisticated space is the perfect backdrop for a quick bite or an evening of grazing on some of Spains best culinary contributions.
Patatas Bravas, Grilled Hangar Steak, Jamon Iberico, Manchego Cheese just to highlight a few standout savories. Churros and Chocolate, Torijja drizzled with Dulce de Leche satisfy the sweet side.
Great wine and beer selection as well as cava (Spanish sparking wine). Don't delay...tap some of Spain's finest feastables at Segovia.

My wife, another couple and I dined at Segovia last weekend. Segovia is a Spanish Tapas restaurant in Osborne Village. They don't take reservations so of course when we arrived Friday evening for dinner they were full. The hostess offered to take my cell number, and call us when a table was free. We took her up on this and walked down the street for a drink. Before we could finish our beers the phone rang, and our table was ready.
The table that opened up was in the lounge so it was quite noisy, but still a vibrant atmosphere. It took a while to figure out how the menu worked, and how we should order. The waitress (Chantel) was very helpful. We basically ordered a number of dishes to share. The portions were small to share so we had to order a lot of dishes. This would be no different than ordering Chinese with a group of people.
We ordered the following, and in order of my preference:
Roasted Quail, Frilled Radicchio, Pistachio Sauce, Lemo Preserve, Serrano Ham
Seared Scallops, Calliflower Puree, Sherry Maramel
Grilled Hanger Steak, Beetroot, Valdeon Cheese, Horseradish Salsa Verde
Charcuterie Board, Grilled Bread
Spiced Lamb Skewer, Arugula Chimichurri
Tortilla Espanola, Aioli, Soft Herbs
We also had Luzon Black Label wine to accompany dinner. The steak, quail and scallops were fantastic, and I highly recommend these dishes. While the other dishes were really good it was these three that stood out.
The price was reasonable for the quality of the unique dishes. Service and ambiance was very good. While I would recommend this restaurant to anyone there are a lot of people that will have a hard time with the menu and food choices. -

Thursday nite came by and we decided to head out and this place ended nearby. It was on our list so in we went. The service was prompt and great, and the three tapas plates (salmon/beets/goat) they averaged about $10 each, and the presentation and taste were very good. Add to that a nice bottle of wine at $33 and it was a very good evening. Will be back again.

Love, love, love this place! The only thing I don't like is the no reservation policy they have. It's such a popular place that it can be a long wait to get in on some nights. But I think it's worth it and have eaten here about half a dozen times this past year - including NYE (which did have reservations available for that night only).
I love the food here - it's interesting dishes that you'd be hard pressed to find around town. Name me a place that prepares squid ink risotto or roasted bone marrow? These are items you can easily find on menus in larger metropolitan cities but in our fair city, we're a little behind in the food scene.
Food service is usually very quick so I suggest keeping one menu, ordering a couple of items initially and just re-order as needed. It's great to order a wide variety of dishes to share but probably 3-4 dishes per person is probably more than enough for dinner. The main menu is good but I usually look forward to the daily specials since that's where the kitchen shines! Some delicious specials that I've had are: lobster risotto; roasted squab, and squid ink risotto. The squid ink risotto is memorable because the dish was so black! The squid ink was painted with the stroke of a brush on the white plate and the pitch black risotto sat in the middle with only a few calamari rings laid on top. There was no specific taste to the squid ink but it was more of the bold black color that was so shocking to see. Otherwise, it was a perfectly cooked risotto dish.
The roasted bone marrow with grilled bread and parsley salad ($5). I could eat this everyday; I always order this one on every visit! I love how the parsley salad cuts the buttery richness of the marrow. Another winner are the seared scallops with cauliflower puree with sherry raisins and crispy capers ($11). You get three very large and perfectly cooked scallops that sits on a bed of the most velvety smooth cauliflower puree. The braised Berkshire pork belly with quince puree ($10) is crispy, rich and delicious! The grilled hangar steak with beetroot, valdeon cheese and horseradish salsa verde ($10) - I really enjoyed the valdeon cheese (Spanish blue cheese) with the meat. Hangar is flavourful though not the most tender cut so don't go any further than medium rare. The albacore tuna with a putanesca sauce ($12) is another winner - perfectly seared tuna with a well balanced addictive sauce.
I'm not a dessert girl but the few times I've tried something, it has been good. The dark chocolate torte with cardamon ice cream and pine nut brittle ($6) had a lot of interesting flavours that all balanced each other. I didn't think I'd like the cardamon ice cream but it went really well with the torte.
The only thing suggestion I would make is to increase the selections of wines by the glass. Otherwise, this is a great place to just enjoy a couple of tapas and some wine or a larger number of tapas for dinner - the latter can add up your bill very quickly but it's well worth it.Listed in: Favourite Dinner Spots, Lounges in the city
