    It's a totally boring store.

But you can almost find what you need in the housewares section, amongst the leftover Xmas bakingware that's proudly displayed as if Xmas is just around the corner. (You think I'm joking here; I kid you not).

The cool Nespressos came only in boring black and white; nothing new here. But it was to be expected.

The bottom floor seemed a bit more promising. One make-up girl offered us Black Magic chocolates. (Seriously? When was the last time you had one of those?) She even let me check the bottom of the box so I didn't get a rotten cherry.

I saw a stand of bran muffins for the more health-conscious higher end make-up counters. I kid you not. It was like going through Save-On-Foods on a Sunday, but with a smaller selection.

Then America's top model judge Jay? was marketing his clothes for women just like me. Some were purty; others were not. It was better than I'd expected. And there were even some sales. But it was not great enough to actually make the effort to try on anything.

So that's about it. Another Canadian dep't store, just exactly as I'd expect, but slightly better.

Does this place even have a elevator? If so, I've never seen it. It's kind of annoying using the escalators for 5 floors...how many floors does this place even have?

My sole purpose for Sears is the fact that I usually come and exit via the Starbucks to Granville Street...sorry Sears!

There are going to be some great sales in the summer, as this is closing down in September! But I have to wonder if stuff will actually be marked down, or if they will ship their inventory to other Sears locations...

They carry everything that you can imagine, like any other department store, but the womens clothing leaves a lot to be desired...seems to oldish for my 20 year old self.

Pertaining to the cosmetics section, and the brands offered there...I find that department stores have better deals and have more "sets" available even if you see the same brands sold at Sephora like Clinique, Dior, Chanel, et cetera...I bought Clinique lip-gloss (4 for $30) and it came in a cute pouch...and stuff like this is never offered at Sephora.

The people working here just seem so glum (especially the cosmetics department!). The atmosphere is glum. It makes me glum. I like to exit as soon as possible.

Sears has overpriced items and I couldn't be more happy that they're closing down later this year. I think the thing that bothers me the most is that they don't have an elevator so say if I had to get to 5th floor to check out their home appliances, I'd have to go up 5 flights escalators. I know I know, they're escalators but it is quite tedious and annoying.

I was browsing around their not-very-busy electronics department on boxing day, and their sales people were utterly lackadaisical on the job. Blah!

This is more of a review combo of Sears and Attitude.

I've always had average customer service at Sears.  There's usually no one to help you and the clothes aren't really worth a trip into the department store.

Luckily, they are starting to branch out a bit.  They carry brands such as Guess, Kensie Girl and now Attitude.  Attitude is a new brand by Jay Manuel, - he's the guy from America's Next Top Model.  I liked a lot of the items, they were classy with a bit of an edge.  I didn't need any more blazers, but I would have loved to get some.  In the end, I decided on a couple pairs of tights.  Love them by the way!  The tights have trendy, but wearable patterns and they are comfortable to wear.

I admit I don't go to Sears too much for their clothing line.  Rather, it's for their tool section.

One thing I like about buying Craftsman tools is their unconditional lifetime warranty.  Whenever I chip/damage a tool or a socket bit, they are always happy to give me an exchange, no questions asked.  With that said, I must say I am somewhat disappointed in what I perceive as a lowering of their tool quality.  I can swear the sockets from the 90s are simply more durable.

This Sears is modern and quite large.I live very close so i often stop in.
It carries a wide variety of products and is open until 9 most nights.

They carry  Guess, Lancome, and many other big name brands.
Ladies wear always has a decent selection, and often marked down.

I also like the stockings they have for 2.95 a pair, and for towels in my bathroom's funky blue color for 50-60% off

The thing i really like about it is the weekend sales. You can get items on clearance, plus save an additional 40-50% off on top of that. Or if its not on clearance, many times they have  scratch and save which  will give you that extra discount.

The ladies in the jewelry department get a huge shout out for the great customer service (especially this past weekend when my bf bought some really cool items for 40% off ) and for one other time when i forgot my Miss sixty sunglasses and they kept them safe until i was able to get them.

For a large department store, in the middle of downtown, they actually have a really big selection. I mostly get here when the big clearance sales are on and wander for a few hours hunting down my prey.. uhm, I mean deal.

Clearance sales seem to be the only time I actually get to this location, and well, you need patience and some endurance to actually find the needle in a hay stack, that is the right item. I'm a particular shopper when it comes to clothes, it has to be cheap!!  And this is the only time I can afford to even look in this store.

Best suggestion for anyone looking for work clothes here, is to grab several items at a time and try things on, the sizing is never 100% so with clearance you want to be sure it's right before you buy it.

Service is hit and miss, and never buy in to the credit card/line o credit jive they try n sell at checkout, the apr is outragous on both.

If I'm in a pinch I'll buy here, otherwise not

We used to rely on this Sears location for all of our home furniture, appliances, and day-to-day clothing. We spent tens of thousands there over the years. In the past 5 years the service has become so dismal I have mailed back my chopped up Sears card and will only go here if I don't have a choice.

The horrible sales people, primarily in the appliances and home furnishings departments, were what did us in. If I'm going to spend a lot of money, I want service and support. Through three separate incidents, all inexcusable service, We've decided to shop elsewhere.

Never buy furniture here, I bought my bed set last December, and they promised to delivery on Dec. 27th, but it hasn't been delivered until now for almost a month! And no one tells us how it suppose to come until I go to their store today, they tell me it can only be delivered on Feb. Two months waiting for a bed! It's crazy! We have been slept on our mattress for almost a month now and have to sleep for another month?! I call their customer service every time before their promised delivery date, and they confirmed but the next morning they phoned us suddenly and informed us the delivery is cancelled. And this has happened twice, so far I have no idea when it will be delivered! Can you imagine this for a big department store in Vancouver? The salesperson Dave was so helpful when we were buying and disappear afterwards, we have to deal with customer service by ourselves! And when you complain there, they try to trick you as well. This is my worst shopping experience in my life! I will not buy anything here any more!

My Canadian hat (which is called that because I bought it here) says "Nevada" on a little plastic tag on the seam and was made in China.

    I like it.  It's cute.

Interesting selection of Canadian-themed items and candies at the front of the store, probably for ugly Americans like me who go "Ooh, we're in another country, let's get something with a maple leaf on it!  I mean, maple leaf on it, eh!  Ha ha ha ha!!!"

Seriously though, it's cool - I was almost tempted to get some sort of maple-flavored item and their coat selection is fairly decent and reasonably priced.

    Yay Canada!  :)

Let me clarify - Sears in Canada is actually a high end department store - and not your typical household goods Kenmore brand based shop you find in the burbs.

The makeup section is fantastic. Love the Makeup Forever counter.

I like these Sears a lot better than the one I normally go to in Richmond Centre. The selection is usually better, the layout is definitely a lot more logical and it's easier to find what I'm after. One downside though is how MASSIVE the department store actually is. If you want to get up to one of the upper floors you're either on an endless journey via escalator, or you can wait for years for the elevators. Despite this, I still find it to be a good store with great return policies and prices. Customer service can be hit or miss because the store is so huge, but that's to be expected.

I wanted to pick up some quick Olympics gear without waiting in line and Sears had a good plushie selection and I had to pee...which led us to a great night for watching Men's Olympic USA vs. Canada hockey game here last weekend. The staff that worked here were super friendly with all of the Canadians taking over the Furniture section for which there was a small flatscreen TV. It was a lot of fun testing out the chairs while watching the game with so many other Canadians. Who would have thought this would have been such a great location to watch a hockey game?

Anyway, I think the Sears in Canada are MUCH NICER than the ones in the US, and I would definitely come back and support this Sears location for how well they treated all of us watching the hockey game :)

If I had a gun to my head and was forced to choose a department store between the Bay and Sears, I would have to go with the Bay. Only if I had a gun to my head....

My apparent disdain for department stores aside, Sears has never really done it for me. The glaring fluorescent lights only serve to expose the overall boring demeanor of Sears and while they carry everything you could ever need, from men's, women's and children's apparel, footwear, luggage, handbags, appliances, furniture, kitchenware and beauty department, none of it really stands out and screams, I'm exciting! This includes the general attitude of the staff, although I can't blame them, I wouldn't be stoked if I worked at Sears either.

As with all department stores, a good place to come for those last minute needs, boring bits or sale items but I say hit up the Bay instead, where the shoe department will having you forgetting about Sears altogether.

They're not just for tires anymore.

I don't know what's so magically-mystically different about Sears stores in Canada, but they are leaps and bounds more impressive than their neighbors to the south. For instance: they have an Estee Lauder counter. Yes. In a SEARS. Really!

If you find yourself in downtown Vancouver and in need of... well, pretty much anything they sell at department stores... this is a valid bet.

I gotta say I continue to be uber impressed with service and selection at this downtown located Sears. After easily finding personnel in which to ask where the sewing machines were, I perused the 9 display models then found someone in which to answer specific questions I had. Andrew was thorough and specific, easily chatting about the machines in answer to my observations and experience. If I had to do it all over again I'd do without pause. Thank you

May your horoscope be a good one on the day you attempt to find assistance at Sears. And if by some star-aligned fate you have someone assisting you (say, getting you a size of shoes) be sure to guard them from other leeching customers who will attempt to steal them away to help them.

I and my money have walked out of Sears no fewer than three times for the simple reason there was not a sales assistant in sight. That's a pretty terrible state of things for a business that survives by selling people things.

To Sears' slim credit, shoppers can expect to get good deals here. The sales are true bargains, like the two jigsaw puzzles I recently bought for a friend for $1.47 each. Or, the bedding I purchased when we'd just moved to town and were really skint -- I think I got all we needed for under $50.

If you don't need help, then you may find some great deals at Sears. A quick tip on getting assistance: on the first floor, take your purchase to the "tourist" store. It's where they sell all the maple syrup and Mountie models and it's always empty. I guess all the tourists are always over buying Olympic stuff at The Bay.

Yes, fine. Maybe I walked in with a chip on my shoulder. I can't help it. Something about department stores really irks me (other than long-forgotten favourites Woodward's and Eatons). It's the sheer nature of 'em, particularly Sears. Their invasion is what pushed the likes of Woodward's and Eatons out. They're the reason places go out of business. Fine, maybe they do help employment to some degree (if it weren't for them, where else would perfume spritzers play?) still...

I was actually insulted to see their Christmas decorations. I'm not trying to bah-humbug the season--I love Christmas! Canadian Thanksgiving had barely past and red and gold baubles had already been resurrected. Really. Couldn't they have exercised a bit more restraint?

Beyond that, I've never really liked the whole feel of Sears. It's so impersonal, don't to the cookie-cutter trends they pimp in the women's department--yes, we really need another leggings retailer. I would honestly rather walk an extra mile out of the way to find that specific fragrance than shop at Sears.

If you choose to venture there yourself, good luck finding an associate in any other department than cosmetics.

I have been in the market for a wool coat for about 2 years and since the zipper on my winter jacket broke it was a better time then ever.

I was very fortunate that 2 days away Sears was having a sale for 50% off all winter jackets. Since wool coats run upwards of $200 I knew I was in for some great savings!

I spent an hour in the store trying on coat after coat, and after disregarding the advise of a sales agent saying that an ugly ass coat looked good on me I found a marvelous military style Buffalo brand coat that looked like it has be tailored just for me!

The happy story however ends here as the service I received upon checkout was absolutey unnaceptable. The women ringing up my coat had an obvious speach impediment (not to mention one of her shirt buttons was undone, her shirt was jarred open and I had a CLEAR view of her control top underwear!) she very quickly and unclearly asked if I wanted a Sears card to save $10. I made the mistake of saying yes, she asked me for my Mastercard and ID and because and gave me an application form that was already filled out and crossed out the last persons responses and told me to fill it out, this was rediculous because there was a whole pile of uncompleted forms already at her till!!! She tried to sign me up for a Sears Mastercard and I told her I didn't want a credit card and she told me it was too late she already did it, I demanded she reverse it and then she said oh it declined anyways, wtf? She then promptly handed me a bunch of credit card like forms and a receipt.

Not knowing what the fuck this women had done I went to another till and asked for a manager. The superviser explained to me it wasn't a credit card and that the Sears card was a line of credit, then I was furious because the cashier NEVER said what a Sears card was so I assumed it was some sort of points card! I was naive for not asking but as an employee it is their responsibility to inform customers that you are signing them up for a line of credit. I demanded they reverse it and the superviser called head office and they advised it could be voided on the same till that it was signed up on. Off we marched back to the till I had paid at which was still occupied by the horrible cashier who promptly asked why her superviser was thier. The superviser told her because I did not want a line of credit, then the cashier had the nerve to turn around and start shouting at me (while she was in the middle of ringing up someone else's items) I promptly and sternly told the women not to argue with me and asked what the hell kind of customer service was that. Shortly after the Sears card was voided and I was on my way (20 minutes later!) and all I got for my troubles was a coupon book and half the coupons had already expired!

The superviser was very polite and efficient at resolving my problem but the damage was done and the cashier shouting at me in front of other customers sealed the deal. I will shop at this Sears out of absolute necessity only.

I was walking up and down Robson Street just looking for a plain white undershirt -- Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, whatever; I didn't care. Well, Robson Street is not the place to look for a cheap undershirt, until you get to Sears. They had a couple of options for reasonably priced clothing of all kinds.
It's also upscale, too. In the States, Sears advertises the "softer side of Sears." And here it's even softer. It's like walking into a Macy's, with large ads for colognes and perfumes.
I'm going to be there frequently.

Today I went to do a simple return, with a receipt to Sears. After waiting quite a while at the department my item was from, the cashier who was on hold on the phone said for me to go to another desk as she could not multi-task.  Sad,I do that all day and quite easily!  So once I found another till,I was told they're unable to give cash or a debit return but rather must have a gift card. I read the back of the receipt and this caveat is NOT stated anywhere. I paid debit, returned in the right amount of time and this is an easy transaction. After pushing for further management to get involved the store manager approved me getting a cash return. Can't say I was the least impressed at the customer service nor the return policy. So...don't buy on debit there if you may want to return!

Too bad they replaced it with Sears. I really enjoyed this place when it was an Eaton's. Sears has blah clothing brands and styles gear more to the "Back to the Future" of the 80's crowd.  Sears on Granville St. doesn't make much sense. This place is a bit of a tourist trap because you'll never hear hip and trendy adults telling others "I'm going to Sears for shopping!" Locals will never shop here any than some some silly impulse purchases.
