Wow! What an amazing, hassle-free whale-watching experience!

Seafun takes you out on a medium-sized boat, I recall there were about 15 of us aboard. This is just what we were looking for-- not too small where the captain would make you swab the deck, and not too big so as to be lost in the crowd a la "Love Boat".

The captains of all the whale-watching boats talk with each other via radio so they know where the whales are going to be. Our particular captain knew just about everything there is to know about the local pods and of orca (killer) whales in general. I won't spoil too much, but the matriarch of one of the pods is 97 years old! That's old even by whale standards; most open-ocean orcas live into their sixties.

We got amazingly close to the "J" and "K" orca whale pods, much closer than we were allowed to get to the grey whales in California. Along the way we also did see a bald eagle or two, and of course we got to experience Victoria from the water's view, along her beautiful harbours.

The Seafun crew really made this a memorable vacation. Highly recommended if you're a tourist, or even if you're a local who wants to give your guests an experience that they'll remember forever!

I HEART ORCA's! =) This was one of the BEST whale watching tour that I've been on (I've only been on another one)! We checked in to our boat abroad the Zodiac and unfortunately, there weren't enough people on that boat, so we got complimentary upgrade to the more luxurious Scarab! This tour is slightly more expensive compared to other tours, but I think it's totally worth it. They gave us a warm jumpsuit to put on over our clothes and offered use of toques, sunglasses, binoculars, gloves, etc! What service! What I love is that they take us out to see the things they know are there first (i.e. sea lions) and wait for the other boats to spot whales. Then they high-tail over and we get to catch the action without having to wait around looking at water! In all, we saw two pods of orcas - one of which we followed for a good distance so that we can see them swim and approach a rock with sea lions (*evil laugh* but alas, no lunch action). We also saw a humpback whale momma and her calf! =) Very cool experience and would highly recommend Seafun! The only thing that they could improve upon is maybe using a microphone on the boat. We were sitting in the back and it was hard to hear the narration with the engines on back there. But other than that, I loved it!

FABULOUS!! The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful - the boat captain has lived in Victoria all his life and answered all our questions not only about the wildlife, but about Victoria in general. The boat had a microphone in it so everyone could hear the whales talking - very cool! In addition to whales, we saw seals, sea lions and gulls. We were lucky and the whales were playful, so our captain extended our time so we could watch. Seafun provided sunglasses, sun screen and anti-nausea wrist bands for anyone who needed them; along with life jackets that doubled as wind blocks. Highly recommend Seafun!
