If you're craving a taste of The Rock - Newfoundland that is - then the Screech & Schooner Lounge next to Tom's Pizza on 17th Ave SE is the place for you. As a reformed Newfie myself, I can honestly say that this joint gets the Newfie vibe right on.
As any of us Newfies know, it's all about the people - and the Screech & Schooner has the right friendly, raucous vibe to it. They've got character(s) in spades.
A good day to get down there is on Saturdays for their open jam session. Who knows - maybe you'll get Screeched-in, Kiss the Cod, and so forth. Regardless, you're sure to have a good time and meet some good folks at the Screech & Schooner.
