Review from Alex K.

Ah, Scrape. Ever fulfilling the role of the embattled independent record store, and not only that, the independent record store with a distinct specialty. Which, FYI, is HEAVY FUCKIN' METAL. Being that my tastes in the aforementioned genre are somewhat specific I don't make the trek to the store super often, but when I do I'm always struck by the love and dedication (two of the most metal emotions there are) that clearly keep the place going. The stock isn't specifically geared to any one stripe of metal, equal care is placed into carrying genre stalwarts, underground black metal, weird post metal and pretty much everything else that falls under the HM aegis. Norwegian Troll Metal? Yeah, they got that. Gothic Post-Thrashcore? It's over there, by Symphonic Crossover. Progressive Power Crust Doom? They have domestic and imported, take your pick. There's even a smattering of 80s Hair Metal and hard rock in there, and the staff are always friendly and quick with a recommendation for everyone, be they newjack or oldschooler. There's also a wide selection of hoodies and band shirts, all black and many with utterly illegible logos, as is the style. Pricing is reasonable, no you aren't gonna find bargain basement tags, but if you had to wrestle the Fenris wolf, take a longboat across the mighty ocean and slay your way through hordes of Orcs to bring folks copies of the new Nördvägr gatefold LP, you'd charge import prices too.

Review from Isabelle G.

Been shopping there for years, Never thought about writing a review until now. I have a wide taste in music from pop, metal, rap electronica etc., however, never once felt threatened or ashamed about my lack of knowledge of Metal and I've always found what I am looking for and came out with bands I've never heard of. Even the other customers who are into metal hard core don't make me feel stupid which is nice. Good non threatening environment. A bit pricey, however, you get what you're looking for without the HMV annoyance.
