this is not the kind of place i would typically frequent (awfully touristy and everything covered in cheese) but my friend and i checked it out, because it was open early enough for us to have breakfast before her flight home.

vegan option are slim; i ordered both of them.  one was the fruit salad, which was actually incredible (great fruit variety and portion size), and toast, which was overpriced at $3.   but the service was super friendly, and my companion enjoyed her breakfast.  the deep dishes and whatnot looked great, but as stated, i did not try any of them.

i don't know that i'd go back, unless it was a similar early-morning breakfast, but if one had a wider diet i'm sure it would be great.

bonus points: when it sounded like the woman at the next table ordered the "vagitarian" deep dish.  LOLRUS! i had such a hard time keeping my cool.

Oh what a wonderful place! Love love love the people that work there. They are so so so nice! This place makes you feel warm and cozy inside. Not just the place, but the food too!
We walked in to have breakfast around 1pm completely starved. I wasn't in my greatest mood, but the staff was so polite that I forgot how badly I needed some coffee!
I had Alfredo's Vegeterian Deep Dish, and my partner in crime had a Superb Scoozis Deep Dish. I can't say it was anything mind blowing, but it was just what I needed! Simple meal packed with the good stuff! They also have freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Pure love!
After our meal, we got a complimentary dessert plate - apple strudel with fruit! I don't know do they do that all the time or just for the Holidays, but it was definitely a very nice touch.
Honestly, I was really wow-ed by the place!

Okay, so their famous Spanokopita is not very traditional and neither is their Greek Salad. The Spano looks more like a Spano-Buritto and the Greek Salad looks more like vegetables placed on a plate than a traditional salad. However, with all of that said I still enjoyed the meal. It was different. It was tasty -- and the span-burrito thing even had a hint of being spicy. If you can erase what might be in your mind for what this dish looks and tastes like elsewhere you will not be disappointed.

The service was great too -- went for lunch at noon on a Sunday...

Breakfast pizza? Seriously? Why have I never tried it until now?

My pal and I were in need of some food after an early start in crappy sideways-rainy weather, and in the middle of the hell that was the Grey Cup.

I suggested Scoozi's because it was a block away and I kept hearing good things. I'd actually been here before, but a loooooong time ago and I didn't recall it being too memorable. Apparently things have changed.

It was hard to decide between the Deep Dish Vegetarian Breakfast and the Vegetarian Breakfast Pizza, but in the end I went with the cheaper (pizza) option.

Chunks of fresh tomato, spinach, cheeses, scrambled egg, and garlic? Dee-lish. Aside from needing a teensy bit of salt, it was fantastic and the perfect amount of food. I'll definitely order this again.

To go with it, I got a glass of steaming hot apple cider. It came with a cinnamon stick inside and it was basically the most amazing smell in the world. Waiting for it to cool down so I could take a sip was torture. Definitely worth the wait, though. :)

This place is a fantastic find in an urban setting.

Scoozi's is a warm and inviting place. After being there only twice, the staff felt like family. It made an amazing impression on my boss. I brought her there for the food, which she enjoyed, but she was more impressed with how we were treated. And did I mention the food is delicious. I've been there for breakfasts and lunches and been very happy.

Make sure your friends have the right address. It is close to Scuie's which is an unrelated restaurant/cafe around the corner. It is confusing, so make sure they get to the right place.

Stumbled on Scoozi's during a birthday trip to Vancouver. Owned by a super nice Italian guy who still greets customers and makes them feel at home, this place immediately surprised with the tasty breakfast food and drinks. I'm not usually one to return to a place, especially if I'm visiting for a short time and looking to explore, but I did have breakfast here twice in the 3 days I was in town. Yes, it's that good.
I didn't try their special deep dish, was too much in love with their eggs benedict :) Their spanish coffee and bloody marys are pretty yummy too :)

This was a cute Sunday morning breakfast place.  Thanks to the Yelp app we located it and waited outside for a table.  This is a small but fun cafe.

We both enjoyed one of their deep dish selections for breakfast.  They call it a cross between a quiche and a frittata. It was a lot like eating a small pizza for breakfast.  I'm sure it didn't help my diet any but it certainly was tasty.

They have a full bar here and my guy elected to have a bloody mary with his breakfast.

They seated us quickly after a short wait outside.  It was about 11:15am on a Sunday and we were in and seated by about 11:30am.

We contemplated coming back for dinner later that evening but we were clear on the other side of town by then.

I'll definitely hit this one again when I come back.

Fun place to have a good quality breakfast.  They specialize in some sort of deep dish frittata thing, which is very tasty.  The people (including the old man who I'm guessing was Scoozi himself) were all incredibly friendly.  The food took awhile but was totally worth the wait...meanwhile our waiter was johnny-on-the-spot with the Bloody Marys, which were good quality too.

Scoozi's! How do you not love a place with a name like that? We entered what I thought was a tiny little nook of a restaurant only to discover that this place was extremely cavernous, just kept getting going and going!

We had a very scrumptious breakfast here. A fantastic way to start the day. We had the giant cinnamon roll topped with fruit. Ooey goodness! We also had what I would describe as breakfast lasagna without the pasta. It was Alfredo's Deep Dish-eggs, spinach, ham, asparagus, artichoke, tomatoes and mozzarella. Outstanding. Allow a little extra time if you order this and also plan on some time to savor it. I wish I had heeded my own advice as we scarfed it.

Service was a little on the slow side, but I couldn't tell how many people were actually in there due to the maze-like nature of the space. Definitely friendly though. Cute bar area. We were seated nearby and if we had more time we would have come back for drinks.

Great name, even better food. It's so much fun to say, I hope I make it back there someday. Scoozi's!

I had one of the deep dish breakfast items here. The food was great, and I'll definitely be coming back on future trips to Vancouver. In addition to the great food it is in a great location, being close to the Skytrain, Ferry, Commuter Rail, and of course about every bus route coming into the city. It's a great place to start the day with some great food, great service (Scoozi was there too), and the server (younger guy) had character and good suggestions.

I was there with my girl, and we also enjoyed their bloody mary's, which where top notch

Came here on a saturday morning around 10 and it wasn't too busy, not empty, just not packed.
I was seated quickly (since it was just me), but I was left to sit there for atleast 10 minutes. An older man (maybe the owner?) came by and noticed i still had my menu. He took my order, the Big Scoozi breakfast, and I was finally brought some water and cutlery.

The breakfast itself was nothing special. Scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, fruit, potatoes. The portion size was enough for one person. With "big" being in the title I thought i would have some to take home, nope.

Getting the check took forever. I often heard other customers around me talking about how long the wait to get their order taken or how long it took to get their check was.

Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but I wasn't impressed over all.

I did enjoy hearing the cute Irish bus boy talk though ;)

I'm coming to Scoozi's now for five years for the occasional breakfast... this place never disappoints!

It has the flair of a family style restaurant with a personal touch and the decor has something 'homey' to it - especially all the fresh flowers!

I can recommend the 'Scoozi's Big Breakfast' or my personal favorite the Eggs Benedict (you can choose between smoked  salmon and bacon!). The Benedict's have just enough sauce on them that you actually feel just good about eating them! Most restaurant drown the eggs literally in sauce hollandaise but not so Scoozi's.

I can't comment on the lunch and dinner menu but the location and way that customers are treated here makes it an A-lister for me!

    Enjoy!

This was a fruit salad like I've only seen in S.E. Asia, but with cherries as well. There was dragonfruit and kiwi fruit, nectarines and blueberries.... Now, I have worked in the hospitality industry as you know, and have in general given up on fruit-salads as I can't stand the taste of both honeydew and cantaloupe. I know, I am embarrassed to admit this, most fruit salads you buy usually have plenty of cantaloupe.

The yogurt too, must be raved about. Homemade Greek yogurt and a good amount of it, topped with this luscious array of fruits and drizzled with local honey, this to me sounds like the ambrosia of the gods and I am getting ready to go back just thinking about it.

I really only ever go to Scoozi's for their Chicken Soup because, well, it's some of the best in town!  Having worked a couple of blocks away for a couple years I'd just head over to Scoozi's, get a chicken soup to go, get some love and affection from Michael, the owner (who is always there to make even the most confident woman blush with his comments on beauty and kiss-ability) and head back to the office for the best part of my day - chicken soup lunch!  Delicious.  Rice, lemon, big chunks of roasted chicken, some warm pita bread on the side...  So good.

I have eaten in a number of times as well, which were great too.  Often being regaled with a complimentary dessert or coffee/hot chocolate.  The staff are all very friendly, the food comes out fast, the ambiance is bright and colourful, and with Michael floating around winking and smiling at all the ladies it's like a wee bit of the Mediterranean in the heart of Vancouver's financial district.

But seriously, if you've never been, go for a bowl of soup (I hear the minestrone is fantastic too.)  5$ and you will be happy, healthy, sated and warm all over.

I went here for a quick brunch with a friend after having only been there for soup and sandwiches in the past. My eggs Benny was good, however it's not the best I've ever had. The space is kind of quirky with European-style decor. The service was friendly enough as well. I probably wouldn't go back for breakfast on a regular basis, but it was a nice one off.

Great little Italian place. It was a hidden gem. Came here for dinner with a bunch of friends. The spicy meatballs and smoked salmon were the BEST appetizers anywhere. The meatballs literally crumble in your mouth. I had the salmon pasta, which was good, not great. But it can be blamed on my week long excursion of seafood while in the pacific northwest. Great service, which was fast and friendly by the owner himself.

A great place for lunch on a beautiful Vancouver afternoon.  We came here for lunch and we had Spanakopita and Minestrone soup and Meatball Platter.  I can't really say I had that many spanakopitas in my life-time, but this one in particular I really loved and with the tzatziki sauce... yum!!  The minestrone soup was the almost the best I had in a long time.  The soup had a meatball (which was very juicy), dill, and feta cheese which were all kind of new to me.  I love the feta cheese touch to the soup, but my only disappointment about this soup was the dill stems in the soup which were chewy and hard to eat.. hence 4 stars... could have been 5....

Service was great!  Fast, efficient, and friendly!

Love the patio!  They even have heaters for the cold eerie summer we have been having.  Also, sometimes if you are lucky, you'll see an astronaut walking around the area! lol

The deep dish breakfast egg quiche-like dish was delicious.  And the cinnamon roll was excellent as well.  Why only 3 stars?  The service SUCKED!  I never got a refill on my coffee (which tasted terrible so maybe that wasn't such a bad thing) and my friend never got the tea she requested twice.  A breakfast place with bad coffee?  That's a major downfall in the eyes of this Seattleite!  There are so many other dining options in Vancouver.... I probably won't be back!

Great ambiance, friendly & authentic service (our server seemed to be the owner) and delicious food.
I got Alfredo's Vegetarian Deep Dish. Eggs, spinach, asparagus, artichoke hearts and fresh tomatoes baked with mozzarella cheese. YUM!! sooooo good.

In Italy, people say "Scuzi" when they bump into you on the street, or need to get by you in a crowded subway car.  It is a charming, polite phrase.  It means "Excuse me; Sorry; I need to pass sir/madame."  Let me start off by saying that this restaurant has almost totally sullied this charming little word for me.

After walking around Robson St. all morning, my girlfriend and I decided to try Scoozi's on the recommendation of a front desk guy at a near by office building, after the crepe place we wanted to go was closed.  We were greeted in a verbose manner by the owner, and I was initially charmed by the cramped seating, chaotic decor, and as reviewer Alex G. put it: "weird atmosphere."  Any semblance of charm soon faded however.

We ordered a calamari appetizer ($9) (after hearing a patron loudly remark that the calamari was the best he had ever tasted), and two spanakopitas,  mine with meat balls, hers with chicken soup (~$13 each).

I am NOT exaggerating when I say that everything we ordered was the WORST respective version of the given dish I have ever had in a restaurant.  Let's begin at the beginning:

Deep-fried Calamari:   Not seasoned at all, not even salt and pepper.  The breading was barely attached to the meat, falling off when you tried pick it up.  Tsatziki dipping sauce was gloppy, overloaded with dill, and seemed more like flavorless sour cream that the cool-refreshing mix of cucumber and yogurt it should be.  Bizarre garnish choice of grapefruit slice, lettuce, and one small carrot stick.  Small, dense, barely toasted dark wheat "pita bread", which surprisingly was not as awful as it looked.

Chicken soup:  Your standard chicken soup with rice.  Over salted.  Two long chunks of chicken sitting on top.  A random piece of lamb was in the soup.  Oh yeah, and Dill EVERYWHERE!  My date suggested that the 'chef's motto was probably "when in doubt... add more dill!" Seriously, I like dill, but come on.

Spanakopita:  Ah yes, the Scoozi's "specialty".  I think I can identify the main ingredients in order: Spinach, dill, cheese, filo.  Once again with the dill.  Seriously though, have you ever made spanakopita? It is so simple, that is the beauty of it.  This was sweet for some reason, totally soggy, somehow burnt and yet still luke-warm inside.  I worked at a cafe where a 17yr old high school girl made the spanakopitas saturday mornings super hung over, and they were WAY better than this!

The kicker, the service:  To start with, we waited over 5 minutes to get water, in a pretty empty restaurant.  We waited over 20mins for one of our spanakopitas to arrive (during which time my date finished her soup), when the owner noticed, my date told him she didn't need it anyway, since we had waited so long.  At this point he very rudely announced that since it was "already on the bill", we should eat it.  It had been under a warming light.  It was cold and disgusting.

After my meal all I wanted to say was "Scoozi?! WTF was that?!".

Vancouver, congratulations.  You hold the distinct honor of best dining experience I have ever had: Tojo's, and the worst dining experience: Scoozi's.

ok, is this place for real?
it was a nice dinner we wanted, just happened to find the place inviting so "why not ?"

well, let me tell you why not.
    1st the place is dingy.
2nd the owner walks around speaking WAY TOO LOUDLY and inappropriately.  We saw him on two occasions rudely ogle at women walking by.
3rd while the food was fine (hence the star i give this place) it was a little overpriced.

don't know how long this place has been around but it's probably seen better days.

I joined a friend at this little lunch spot and really enjoyed it. I am so tired of chain restaurants and cookie cutter menus that this place offered me a little more charm and variety than the avreage place, so that was a great start.
The service was lunch-time fast, the Scoozi salad I had was excellent, and my friend's minestrone soup was fantastic. The place was comfortable, the atmosphere is nice, and above all it was spotlessly clean. That counts these days!

I can't help but love the service as the owner, Michael--I think, ushered us in to a table, made excellent recommendations, and ensured his staff served our lunches up quickly.

The lemon and herbed chicken soup warmed me perfectly on a rainy Vancouver day, while my lunch date's pizza delivered plenty to share.

As we left, Michael urged us to take a piece of fruit from the stacks of bananas and oranges beside the door. That's some delightful charm and personality that's not too easy to find.

We stopped in here for a quick lunch while visiting Vancouver. We were greeted  by the owner, who showed us to a patio table. He was really friendly and made us fee very welcome.

We started with the minestrone soup, which was the best we've ever had. It was loaded with loads of vegetables, beans and seasonings.
As mains, we had the ratatouille and the chicken breast pita wrap. Both were absolutely declicious.
We couldn't have been happier with the entire experience.

My wife and I had Breakfast the first time. It was so good, we went back to lunch. Very much a family style restaurant. The owner when when he is in, often stops by the table to make sure everything is okay. The homemade greek yogurst was incredible.

I don't think I've ever had a more pleasant dining experience

With all the restaurants I've been to trying to follow the same food standards, nothing is more heartwarming than a hearty meai made with family recipes and prepared with a heart.

I ordered the meatball lasagna, and you can tell they prepared the sauce themselves. The dill accentuate the taste of the tomatoe sauce, and the pasta is stil moist. Not hard, and definitely not greasy. I can only hope some of the most well known restaurants can take more care in the preparation of this simple dish.

The caesar salad was a bit of a tradeoff in comparison. I have to admit, it could have done better. But the service made up for it. The friendly waiter Marcello was tentative to all of our needs, and managed to surprise us as the evening goes by.

The desserts were probably their favourite creation. The fruit decoration glazed with honey definitely sold me on purchasing extra deserts. It is this level of care that truly makes up for the dining experience

For someone who dines out as much as I do, it is always a nice change of pace to enjoy the hospitality of a family restaurant like Scoozi's. If you want to experience a truly heartwarming meal for once, this is the place to go.

The place was recommended by our concierge at the Pan Pacific and I was in no mood to give a greek brunch/ breakfast place a try.  I wanted to go back to the burger place in Gastown (I think it was called Veras) that we had lunch at the previous day. Boy was I glad the wife put the foot down and said no freakin way to more meat between bread and ofcourse u have no choice but to listen to the wifey.
This place just fit perfectly into our lazy Sunday morning. It was raining outside (people tell me that it has been raining in VC for 3 weeks every freakin day..boy am I glad I am from Cali...yes the higher taxes i worth it :) and we reallllllly wanted some alcohol in our coffee ;) and definetly wanted some comfort food (aka meat between bread). What we ended up with was an amazing  experience.  Greek meatballs with tsaziki and pita bread, moussaka with caeser salad and lamb spanakopita. I gotta say that the best lamb I have ever had has always been in Greek cusine. For desert we had  some sensous (yes I said it) chocalate cheese cake with grapes, stawberries and kiwi (OMG u gotta try this).
We are from SF and ofcouse uptight about food. My wife thinks she's Julia Child's reincarnation for God Sakes. I thouroghly enjoyed this place. The food was excellent and hearty. 4 Stars because of just one incident. I wish I could give 4.5 stars but the waitress was convinced we needed hot sauce because we are Indian.Right! I dont like spicy food lady. She was extremely good otherwise I just cant stand the generalization. Total bill about 70$ including a 17% tip. We will be back next time we are in VanCovaaaaa.

Great service and great "feel at home" atmosphere. Good, simple, dependable menu.

Went in today with a group of friends for breakfast, and although the food was good, and we had no complaints with the service, we were quite surprised when we saw our bill.  All but 1 of us ordered a caesar to drink (and we love our caesars), which came out in short glasses, barely any spice to them (which we didn't say anything about).  The kicker was we were charged $8.95 plus tax!!! Seriously?!?! For a mediocre single shot caesar?!  We couldn't believe it!  We asked our server about it, and she was apologetic and offered to ask about giving us a discount on our bill, but we all felt that we should have been told when ordering that their cocktails were ridiculously over priced.  Not going to be going back there.
