Review from Christine R.
New Westminster, BC
This antique store, which shares space with Miller's Jewelers, specializes in china, crystal, jewelry and watches. I especially love the case of mismatched china teacups, since there's something chic about having a tea party with a nuttily mismatched set.
I also liked that, in addition to having some nice old sets of china dishes, the shopkeepers have placed explanatory notes in the cases to give the beginner buyer an idea about the materials, styles, eras, and makers they're carrying. For example, there's a nice note explaining why certain Hummel figurines are valuable; they've never appealed much to me, aside from starring in a pivotal scene of the movie About Schmidt, but now I feel enlightened about why they might appeal to others.
This is a very small shop, though, so I felt constantly watched, and while carrying a large bag, felt a little like the proverbial bull in a china shop. I managed to get out of there without any accidental expenses. A good thing, as these sorts of fine things don't come cheap.
