I just love Schnees. First of all, the quick bowl of chili or lunch soup and sandwich you can get at one of their two tables is a bargain, and delish. They carry a full selection of all the stuff we Euro-types consider soul food. They have all the correct German goodies, jams, spices, hair tonic, bread, magazines and above all BAKED GOODS for Sunday Cafe and Kuchen. Helga, the cantankerous owner makes a cheesecake that causes angels (of German extraction) to cry. If you want an authentic strudel, Helga has it. If you crave your Oma's meat salad, Schnee's makes the best (dont' tell my Oma.)
