This place is just too cool for reviewing! It really is!
I love the staff, and their 'decorations' and signs in the store. Their movie selection is good, and they have awesome deals for renting movies. My bf was in a movie-buying frenzy and bought about 5 movies on sale. It was quite a good deal (about $26)!
I have nothing else to say, it is just too cool, I don't know where to start describing it! Just go in there, you don't have to rent, just check the place out!

I love you! Great movies and excellent customer service.
A few years ago when the big boys of the rental business did that whole "no late fee" thing I thought you would surely sink.
But you prevailed and I will never again stray to the corporate pigs.

COOL & UNIQUE PLACE!!!!
This is probably the last great vestige of brick and mortar DVD rental stores.
Has an amazing selection of hard to find films!
The staff are fun, knowledgable and friendly!!!
There's a weird dead body odor about the place though.....hmmmmm -

When I moved to North Vancouver a few years ago this was one of the first places that I went. I love movies so this place was made for someone like me. I know a lot of people like to goto Rogers Video or Blockbuster or just simply watch movies On Demand.
You will find movies here that will never, ever make it any of the above places. Shlockbuster will be in business I think for a long time because of that very fact. I find bizarre titles that I never even knew existed each and every time that I go there.
Sometimes I feel that I have to limit my time there otherwise I might stick around all day browsing the shelves for another hidden gem.
Their prices are decent and they have some great specials as well. I just simply cannot recommend this place more highly if you are looking to rent a movie. -

This is definitely a video store for people who love movies, but don't take themselves too seriously. Eschewing traditional categories such as comedy, drama, horror, etc., the store is instead organized around playfully named themes, such as "We like to bite" (vampire movies), directors (an entire Hitchcock section), and so on. They have a new releases section, of course, but includes new arrivals of blaxploitation, zombie, and western movies, as well as the latest from Hollywood.
While parking itself can be a bit of horror show, Schlockbuster's is superfun to visit. I could spend days looking at myself the funhouse mirrors and checking out the crazy displays. Does this funhouse mirror make me look fat?
Especially if you're a horror or b-movie fan, check out Schlockbuster's. I'm not, but I am here to tell you they have a well-edited selection of quality movies. It beats the hell out of the local Rogers!Listed in: Lower Lonsdale

You've got to love a place that has a sign in the window with a hypnotic swirl behind the words "you want to rent a movie", and a full-sized Gort towering beside the cash register. Browsing for videos in this place is like hanging out in the rec room of a fan who has an unlimited budget for buying DVDs and memorabilia: in between the flicks themselves are a truly astonishing variety of fun statuettes, props, and so on.
And, unlike the big chains, where the science fiction section is limited to the latest big-budget "eye candy" blockbusters, plus a smattering of cheesy low-budget horror or porn flicks with a raygun or two thrown in, Schlockbuster has a science fiction section wrth browsing: there's the big budget stuff, and the schlock, but there are also serious, important science fiction works (not necessarily well-known), and amazing rare treasures you're not going to find in most places.
I also love it that they're willing to bring stuff in on request. They have brought in "The Aliens First Christmas" and "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun" for me. Great bunch of people. -

Having been a previous film student, and movie obsessor, this place really is like heaven. Places like Blockbuster or Rogers video will never offer you the choices that Schlockbuster provide.
There is an extensive list of Indie, Cult, Foreign and Documentary films you would have a hard time finding anywhere else. The staff are always very nice and clearly are film buffs themselves. -

You never just 'run in' to get a film here. I intend on picking up one or two and end up with five. I am a huge zombie cheese fan and almost wet my pants when I saw they had an entire section devoted to zombie movies! The staff is great and they are flexible with their late fees which is nice. I have never gone back to Rogers or Blockbuster since going to Schlock and it is unlikely I will. At first I was put off by the girls that work there I thought they were incredibly bitchy but I realize now they are just veeery dry. Never hesitate to ask for a suggestion or just check out the staff favorites.
