I have not been to shanks it falls into the catagory that I
hate about sports bars in Vancouver they should at least have
direct or dish tv not just games I can get with my cable package at home
we are a cruise ship port I have been in many bars when Americans have come in asking for their university game you have to have it to be a legitimate sports bar
I can watch ufc or the Canucks anywhere -

Great place, if it's not busy. Has pool tables and a mini golf which is a plus, starlight casino is right beside it, if u wanna gamble a little bit and the service is ok. In my opinion Go When It's Not BUSY!! It's the only way u can Really enjoy it, with some friends of course.

This place blows. I will list the reasons why:
-There's probably a larger and tastier menu selection between the cushions of my couch.
-They have NO drink menu - WTF?
-Service sucks - you'll see your server maybe twice during your entire stay. If you're lucky.
-Yeah there's a mini golf course, but don't play if you actually expect your ball to go into the hole - the greens are so raggedy and destroyed, it's virtually impossible to shoot a straight shot, and the Astro-turf surrounding every hole is so frayed that it'll stop your ball dead at the edge of the hole every single frustrating time. I almost sent my chipped, warped, five-dollars-at-a-garage-sale putter across the pub and hopefully into one of their obnoxious giant tv screens.
- Why are the screens obnoxious, you ask? Because it's like, "Look at us! We gotz da biggest screens in DA CITY, yo! Come here with your douchebag friends and waste your money on our supremely shitty food and nonexistant drink menu - because you're a clueless n00b asshole if you settle for your UFC on anything LESS than giant two-million foot screens!" (--- that was the pub speaking.)
- Some of the tables they set up are crappy plastic folding picnic tables and black lawn chairs. Seriously? Is this a pub or a church raffle?
All in all, we didn't stay long enough for our drinks to arrive. which probably would have taken another hour anyway. They need to improve their quality of service, menu, setup, maintenance, and pretty much everything except the giant obnoxious tv screens. Go elsewhere for PPV events - the giant obnoxious screens are just not worth it. And hey - listen to how they just spoke to you! :p -

So obviously the food isn't going to be that great.. it's a sports bar. Normally places like this aren't going to serve good food!
We came here to have a beer and watch Monday night football, it served it's purpose! -

Huge sports bar inside Starlight Casino - the hook is the mini golf courses throughout the bar and the monstrous projection screens. There's plenty of pool tables as well.
I like bars. I like casinos. And moderate-priced drinks in a Canadian casino is a rare thing. However, in the couple times I've been here, I always walked out less than impressed and I can't quite put my finger on it.
Maybe it's bland selection of big-brand domestic beers (~$16/pitcher). Maybe it's the cavernous casino interior being poorly disguised as a local sports bar (I keep thinking the space would be better suited as a swanky lounge/club). Maybe it's the limited and pricey food menu.
However, I guess the big draw is to watch PPV events on the theatre-sized projection screens and TVs around the bar. However, be careful of where you sit. Having to crank your neck upwards to the projection screens may be uncomfortable after an hour or two.
The best way I can describe Schank's is: you know how Las Vegas mega-casinos are a poor imitation of the exotic places they model themselves after? Schank's is like a poor imitation of a sports bar. -

Located in Queensborough beside Starlight Casino. Huge sports bar with tons of TV screens.. also a mini golf course (9 holes) that goes around the bar.. arcade and pool tables as well. Great place to watch the game and various sporting events incl. UFC. Come early though, cuz even though its large it fills up fast!
Food is mediocre so they lose stars for that. Drink prices are average. -

Great place when it's not too busy. On game days or UFC nights the place is packed. Food is fairly priced and it's comparable to most pubs.

Now this is a sports bar! Big Screen TV's line the wall and there is a huge Screen almost the size of the wall in one spot. Multiple pool tables, a mini arcade, a virtual golf game and Even mini golf high light this bar. I came on Friday night and had the rack of lamb and fries for $10.95 and for the price I can't really complain. It was above average, but not quite like the old Tony Roma's. The waitress asks your name when you sit down so they are attentive that way. Their pop though is mostly iced the whole glass so if you do order a coke, ask for no ice.
