I love this store and it's not just because I am of Scandinavian descent. OK, maybe. Aside from IKEA and a select few furniture stores, there aren't many places in Vancouver where you can find items that reflect the excellence of Scandinavian design.

This store tucked into the bottom of the HSBC building on Hornby and Georgia carries jewelry and silverware by Georg Jensen, crystal by Orrefors, and porcelain by Royal Copenhagen, as well as Moomin troll merchandise. I even spied a Pippi Longstocking-printed towel. Prices are a bit dear, but they do seem to have frequent sales, so I'm hoping to luck in on some 20% off Georg Jensen candlesticks.

There's also a wonderful selection of Christmas ornaments, just like my grandma used to have.

This store is IKEA meets your wedding gift registry. The large space houses a variety of crystal, china, cutlery, Christmas ornaments, and art pieces from the Nordic countries.

I was really impressed by the beautiful blown art glass birds (although I didn't look at any of price tags...). There were also heavy pewter place setting decorated with Norse images, and hand-painted china from Denmark.

Don't venture in with a large purse: There is lots in here that's expensive and breakable.

I was the only customer in the store and the two store owners/assistants provided non-pushy offerings for assistance. Very respectful folks and professional. Overall there are lots of gorgeous gift items here that range from delectably elegant to folksy, bright and fun. Not too much that was my style, but I appreciated the clean aesthetic.
