I've been here twice, and I would - no, make that WILL - go back again.

This spa is quite unique from any other spa I've been to. It's all about the hydrotherapy - and it's all outdoors.

You can enjoy a beautiful view of the Coast Mountains from anywhere in the facility, and unless it's socked in by clouds or rain, it's pretty magnificent any time of year.

The concept is this: you alternate hot with cold treatments followed by moderate recovery to relax, purify and rejuvenate your body.

Start off with a Eucalyptus steam bath for 15 minutes, then step outside and plunge into one of the cold pools. Jump out, and spend 15 minutes or so recuperating in a deck chair by an outdoor fire pit, in a solarium, or just outside soaking up the sun.

Then start the cycle again. The second time, maybe you opt for a soak in the huge outdoor jacuzzi, followed by an invigorating cold shower. Next cycle: hit the Finnish wood-burning sauna, another cold pool and more r'n'r.

Another wonderful aspect to all this is the fact that silence is strongly encouraged, so it's almost like a liquid, meditative retreat.

There is also a kitchen that supplies healthy organic lunches and snacks in a cozy dining room overlooking the facility.

The first time I went, I only experienced the hydrotherapy aspect; the second time I went, I also enjoyed a 60-minute full body massage, which did enhance it. However, the massage itself was only a little above average (I get regular massage from a couple of RMT's, so I'm spoiled - and picky) and it wasn't the make-or-break factor in my enjoyment.

The package with the massage also included a light lunch, as much bottled water as I wanted, a robe and slippers to wear while there (got to keep the footwear!), some small take-home vials of massage oil and a really cool Spa-logo stainless water bottle to use and keep.

Like I said, I will be going back there, again. It's one of those treats I don't wish to indulge in every month, but certainly a quarterly trip would not be overdoing it.

Oh my Goddess, I think I died and went to heaven. A very quiet heaven full of gorgeous, pampered bodies.

We had plans to visit friends in Whistler and as we all have health plans that cover RMT we booked two couples Swedish massages for 60 minutes. At $156 each a pop I'm glad we can mail those receipts off for reimbursement. Would I pay that out of pocket, probably for a lovely day of pampering. Going for massages means you get a robe, two towels, key for a locker and full use of the facilities all day long.

We showed up a bit early and ate first as our friends said the food was overpriced there. I left one towel in my locker for my shower at the end of the day and I took flip-flops to wear. First we hit the steam room and got ourselves nice and rosy before moving to the hot tubs. I sat under a warm waterfall in the hot tub and let the it pummel my shoulders for a bit. A couple of times I timidly splooshed into the nordic pool for a refreshing jolt of cold water. Going back to the hot tub after creates an odd tingly sensation.

Soon it was time to head to our massages where my husband and I were led to a room with two massage tables. I'd never had a full body massage before but figured I'd give it a whirl. Good lord my shins are so friggin' tight and this was actually a bit painful but I sucked it up as I knew my muscles needed it. Both our RMTs were very good and we felt completely melty after the full hour was over. I can tell you that all four of us were totally relaxed for the rest of the day and evening after our massages and all four of us were very pleased with our treatments.

Once done with our massages we headed to the showers before hitting more of the facilites. We did the sauna for a while, hung out in the relaxation room reading our books and even sat outside in our robes around the fireplace to enjoy cooling off in the fresh winter air. We went to the hot tubs on the lower level for a change of scenery - this place is big! When it was time to go we showered and primped a bit before heading into the village for a bite to eat. They have shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hairdryers, body lotion, Q-Tips and cotton balls there for you. They also have plastic bags for your wet swimsuit,

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to stay quiet: in fact the four of us didn't get into trouble once. I think my husband enjoyed teasing me by putting his finger to his lips every time I went to say anything. There are a lot of rather beautiful people walking around in their swimsuits and I regretted not giving myself a pedicure first (oh vanity) but really, who was looking at my toes when my bum was wiggling around in its bikini bottoms? :P

I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Whistler and have a good portion of a day just to relax and get pampered.

I've been here twice.....the first time while on my honeymoon and it was blissful. The massage (couples) was just OK (yes, deep tissue means deep tissue).
This time around, I took a dislike to this place and here's why:
    - it's quite expensive, it would be nice if they provided flip-flops. I had to buy them.
    - the men's locker room feels like it's dirty.  And that's before you consider that they leave out absolutely no 'product'..... (don't laugh, but it would be nice if they had some deodorant or hair gel....I tend not to carry those around).
    - the massage was so-so, the waiting area cramped and small.

Unlike others, I wish that Sr. Silence had visited some of the areas. I was in the Solarium and it seems that everyone wanted to talk except me.

So a good idea, needs a little bit of refining and could really earn 4.5 stars....it will never be a luxury spa experience.

This is a place for complete relaxation.  Hot baths are awesome but don't say it out loud because the employees will come and tell you to be quiet.
It was really cool to sit in the hot bath and see the snow fall all around me.

I loved the steam room.  It smelled nice and it was very relaxing.

Massage was great too.  I was half asleep because I was so relaxed.

This place is a bit over priced though, but no surprise in Whistler right?
I didn't like how they charge for robes and don't provide you with slippers, that should be included in the package.

Snow fell as we lounged variously in the out door hot tubs, steam room and sauna.  After a deep tissue massage I was really in a whole other world of relaxation.  The cost makes this a treat category activity but by god I wish I were able to visit on a regular basis.  The suggested equation for relaxation is apparently 15 minutes hot, 30 seconds cold and 20 minutes quiet contemplation.  Today my body says that's an equation to live by.  Sigh....

    Was this review …?

I don't know why I would thiink that punishing myself in cold and hot water would be relaxing but I end up taking the plunge anyways. I can only compare it to one other place and this place came a little short. The location is a big perk of to this place. I love Whistler and have been thinking it should be a year event in my life. I may just have to come back here again every year. Maybe I'll add a massage with the polar bear dip to increase the experience.

It feels like you just joined a cult.  I saw many people talking and whispering and enjoying themselves, I don't know why such a weird rule is in place, maybe they should mimic how more prestigious spas do it, rather than this weird vibe of a lady in black walking around to enforce silence.

Massage kind of sucked too.  I would not go for the massages.  I couldn't find many massages in Whistler, so decided on this place.  The hot pool was nice when it was snowing though.

Ssssshhhhhhhh don't speak. Relax.  If you do speak, speak softly. Take it in and melt your stresses away.  If you speak too loudly, the staff will let you know.

We were still stoked from a day of ripping up the slopes and the Scandanavian Bath was exactly what Dr Relaxtion ordered for our bruised and battered bodies.  I'm not going to give too much away and many posts before mine have revealed what it's about.

Experience it yourself.  You won't regret it.

Came here for a spa day with girls where we all signed up for massages and access to the baths. We were told that we needed to pre-pay for our group reservation, but that they would credit-back to the card any gift certificates we brought in (we all picked up Way-Spa vouchers from Costco).

One of the girls was celebrating her birthday that weekend, and her hubby surprised us all by upgrading our packages to include robe rentals, flip flops, stainless steel water bottles, and lunch.

The spa facilities are very clean, and the baths are set in an absolutely stunning environment. My massage was amazing, I could literally feel all the knots melt away in the hands of my very skilled masseuse. All of my girlfriends reported excellent massages as well. Our lunches were healthy, light, and delicious.

We quite enjoyed the baths, except for the attendant that was taking the whole "haven of peace and quiet thing" way too seriously. I really don't think a whisper between friends to say "lets try the sauna," calls for an even louder "SHHHHHHHHH" from the attendant and a lecture about how we need to respect the rules. Five second whisper versus 3 minute full volume chastisement...hmm.

It was only after we left the spa and were back in Vancouver, that we realized the spa had made some serious mistakes. Firstly, our Way Spa vouchers, which were given to the receptionist to take care of during our massages, were never processed & value credited-back to my credit card. I was charged for the spa upgrades which my friends hubby had paid in full in advance. One of us had an RMT massage, for which a receipt was never provided.

I called the spa to inquire about what had happened, and the first girl I spoke with effectively called me a liar, saying that they had no record of us ever giving them any Way-Spa vouchers, or of my friends hubby paying for the upgrades. I hung up on her. Called back the next day and thankfully got the receptionist we had dealt with the day of our massage - she fully admitted to having forgotten to process the vouchers, as well as accidentally charging me for the upgrades. She promised to take care of everything that day (including sending out the RMT receipt), and added on a 10% discount to apologize for all the trouble and the rudeness I'd encountered the day before.

Overall, despite the hiccups we experienced, it's still a great spa where I had one of the best massages of my life. Yes, for a luxury spa it's surprising they don't offer towel or slipper service - but the package prices are actually VERY reasonable by Whistler standards. Even with an extra $12 robe rental you're still coming out on top.

This place is top-notch though I have a few issues that are so minor, they do not affect my rating.

They actually believe you will collect your soppy wet towels at the end of the experience, drag them up a flight of stairs, and drop them in a box on your way out. I'm not the only one who thought this was inconvenient, as there were 8 wet towels strewn about the ladies room with no owners.

    This place is BYO-oriented:
BYO-bathrobe. They do have one for rent at $12.
    BYO-mouthwash.
BYO-comb. You usually would anyway but some spas offer this.
    BYO-disposable razor and shave cream.
BYO-fruit. They do have some for purchase.
You dry your own bathing suit. They don't have a spin dry machine but they have plastic bags.

By the way, your Edge card discount does not apply to the massage. I felt mislead about the advertising. It is only 10% off the baths which is about $60 by itself.

Good notes, the facility is super clean. There are water fountains everywhere with that cool Whistler water. Yum! The massage was great. I had Lise-Anne. There are a lot of smart details, esp. in the steam and sauna rooms. Direct free shuttle from the Pan Pacific.

I would love to come back in the winter when it is snowing. Hopefully they make a few tweaks by then.

This place can be summed up by two words: "Ultimate relaxation."

From the moment you walk down the small path from the parking lot, you feel like you're on a journey to a sanctuary; a "haven of peace and quiet," as the sign indicates at the front door.

The Scandinavian bath ritual sounds kind of crazy (i.e. jumping into a pool of cold water after sitting in a cozy hot tub). But, don't knock it until you've tried it. Nothing (legal) can create the same heavenly body buzz that submersing yourself into an ice cold pool can.

Spend an hour or spend a day at Scandinave. Bring a book and go solo or head there with your partner or friends. Just make sure you don't get into trouble for talking!

TIP: Go for a massage in between baths. They even have RMTs so you can claim it on your health benefits.

When you leave, I promise you'll feel rejuvenated and relaxed.

My husband asked me if I wanted to go to the spa after snowboarding . . . well, OF COURSE! Like he even needed to ask!! We heard about this place from my sister-in-law who's been to one in Montreal. It's a really serene place with "silence" signs everywhere! There's a steam room, sauna, relaxation room, Nordic bath, and a hot bath . . . everything was very clean and peaceful (although if you go with a large group, be careful because there are "shushers" around that will lecture you if you're noisy)!

We also got the deep tissue massage which hurt sooo good! I had Naomi who was pretty good at getting the kinks out, although she did things on one side that she didn't repeat on the other so I felt a little bit uneven. My husband had "the best massage ever" in his lifetime of receiving 3 massages, but still, compliments to his masseuse! When they left our room, however, they left the door open! What?! Hello ~ poor hubby had to show a little skin in order to get the door closed! Other than that, everything was perfect! Although, for the price, I think they could've included soothing teas, bottled water, robe, and slippers!! Can't believe you have to "rent" slippers!!

**DISCOUNT ALERT** Stop by Costco on your way to Whistler and get your giftcards there at 20% off AND if you stop by the Whistler Visitor's Center, there's 10% off coupons there too!

The hot stones are magical.  We had two 90 minute massages, they were absolutely lovely.  Professional, relaxing, invigorating, what a day off from skiing.  No kids, no noise, no talking.

Tubs are nice, but you can literally relax for hours in the sauna and sun rooms, or just sitting out by the fire.

Why not 5 stars?  Two reasons...
They don't provide slippers, robes, etc.  All these are extra fees in an already fairly pricey environment.  $12 each for a robe?  Really?  After I just paid $400 for the two of us to get in, get a massage and enjoy the baths?
Second is that they miss the opportunity to wow people.  There are just a couple water fountains, they could easily walk around with someone offering small cups of cold tea or something.  You need to hydrate in that environment.  They also have a bit too much concrete, looks very dated.

I will certainly go back.  No talking, so try not to scream when you jump into the cold pool!

This place is just the bees knees. Went here with a friend after finding out the mountain was closed and there was pretty much nothing else to do in Whistler, and we were happy we did.

The whole setup here is perfect. Drive up onto the mountainside and park just adjacent to a small path leading into the woods. Romantically lit, as you walk along the path you begin to pickup the scent of relaxation that makes it's way to your nostrils from the eucalyptus steam room just down the hill, though you can't see it at this point. Getting to the chateau-like main building, you're greeted softly and politely by staff behind the desk. Even this early in the experience, the stress seems to be melting away, and is only further melted by the prices: $55 for unlimited access to the baths, sauna, steam room, fireplaces, etc., and only $135 for a 60 minute Swedish massage, which also includes a pass to the baths. My companion and I both opted for the massage.

At the recommendation of the staff, we spent some time in the baths first, before the massage. A three step process of hot, cold, warm, we cycled through the options about 40 minutes at a time: steam room, cold pool (really really cold), outdoor fireplace.... wood-fired sauna, cold plunge, fireplace.... hot pool, cold shower, relaxation solarium. Entirely silent, all of the baths and sauna and steam room etc. are perched on the mountainside, with stairs and paths leading from one to the other, as if the whole place were carved into the mountain itself. The feelings of serenity are indescribable as you sit quietly outside by the fireplace, wrapped in a giant plush white robe, looking out over the snow-covered tree tops, exploring your thoughts as you wait for the next round of hot and cold. Just wonderful.

As if the baths weren't relaxing enough, we then went inside for massage. This was the best professional massage I've ever had. The facilities are simple and sufficient, but the masseuse was outstanding. I don't remember her name, but she was amazing. I knew it was good because it seemed to last forever: a bad massage goes by quickly because you never really get into it, a decent massage goes by quickly because you get deeply relaxed, and an excellent massage goes on and on, because you're so relaxed you lose a sense of time, but you're at the same time present and conscious because of how good it feels. This was definitely the latter.

Returning to the baths for a quick round of Scandinavian hot/cold after the massage was the cherry on top. The whole experience was almost surreal. I even had to sit in the lobby and read a magazine for a bit to return my mind to the real world before driving!

As I'm sure you can tell, I can't wait to return.

Just visited the Scandanave Spa for the second time!  I really love this place!  The outdoor setting and quiet atmosphere for the outdoor saunas and cold plunges is extraordinarily peaceful and relaxing.  I took my daughter there for her birthday, and got her a spa and massage package.  She was quite impressed!  While she got her massage, I enjoyed some extra time in the eucalyptus steam room and the Finnish sauna.  Heavenly!

I needed an RnR weekend and heard great things about the Scandinave Spa which opened earlier this year.

Beautiful location and set-up in Whistler - the theory is that it's good for your skin and circulation to do a series of hot and cold baths and relaxation in their solarium/hammock/fire pit, and repeat as many times as you'd like.  You can combine it with their massages as well while you're here.

Hubby and I spent several hours here and had a great time - the baths are lovely and it's fab to be sitting in a warm bath outside and feeling the cool mountain air and watching the trees!  Nice shower facilities with hairdryers, lotion, etc... for when you're done.

It's definitely a "silent" place - there's actually someone who patrols the area and you will definitely get shhh'ed!

    Starts at $58 a person.

    Wow.

That's pretty much the only word for it. I'm not really a spa kind of girl, but it sounded nice after a weekend packed full of hard working adventure. We only did the pools option, and it was incredible.

Their recommendation is that you spend 10-15 minutes in a hot tub, then as long as you can handle the cold pools, and then 10-15 minutes relaxing, repeat x3. It's a "silent" spa, so they strongly dissuade any talking, and at first I was a little put off by that... but after 10 minutes in the eucalyptus sauna (they had eucalyptus scented water that you could pour over the rocks), I was totally relaxed, "in the zone", and had no interest in talking... or listening. It was just awesome, if you're ever looking for a "total relaxation" type afternoon, this is the place to get it.

Just a quick response to Dub n's review. Not sure what they are talking about. First, about not being able to find many massage places in Whistler. Are you kidding me. Open your eyes. And, out of them the Scandinave have the most and best therapists in all of Whistlers.  Outside the sauna, steam bath and tubs are fantastic. The place is spotlessly clean and the employees have always been super friendly and helpful. The cultish quiet they talk about is actually the best part of the experience. It's peaceful and beautiful so who needs people yapping in your ear bothering you. The people in black they talk about are actually walking around cleaning and attending to the wood burning stove. If they were told to stop talking by them there was good reason, you were bothering me or others. If they want to socialize and chat they should stay in there dirty pool at the hotel, with all the noisy kids. The Scandinave has created a wonderful and unique experience in town and if you read the reviews you'll see a lot more people enjoy it than not. Maybe it's good for us that love the peace and quiet that Dub n stays away.

My boyfriend and I went here for my birthday and really liked it. It was lovely- the only few complaints I have are that I hated my massage. When I go back I don't think I'd book another one and the other complaint is that they advertise smoothies in their cafe so I ordered one then I saw our server pour our smoothie from a bottle of pre-made store bought smoothie. Not what I was hoping for and seemed a little misleading. Overall though the bathrooms were very clean, the pools were great and so was the steam room and sauna.

I called in to book a spa treatment for the 9am time. I was told that they had two spots available but had to call my friend to confirm whether she needed a RMT. I called my friend back. The spa said that they would put the two spots on hold for  10 minutes and I could call back to confirm within that time frame. I called back within that time frame and was told that the appointments were already taken.  I asked to speak to the manager since I was not impressed that this business was not holding up their word.  At that time, the manager said that someone had an emergency so only one spot was available and I would have to book the other spot at full price.  I am not sure. This could be true but I have to say that I doubted this explanation.  I would give 0 stars to any business that does not honor what they say. Sure maybe the girl should not have put places on hold (as the manager told me) but your employee did this which makes it not my problem. The right thing to do is to honor the price at another time.

Best spa in whistler. If you enjoy stunning architecture and a well thought out property site this is just the beginning.  Attention to detail and a reverence for the client's experience from the moment you walk down the tree lined path to the lobby are the hallmarks of this establishment. The best message therapists have defected from the other spas in town to be a part of a true world class offering

I'm taking a trip up to BC to visit Scandinave again, but I do have a bit of a yelplaint. First the good, acutally great.  The facility is beautiful, and the massage services we got were awesome.  When using the hydrotherapy, however, silence is required.  It's a bit of a bummer when you're with your best friends on vacation or sitting alone in a sauna with a super hot guy!  Not only that, they don't tell you this upon checking in, so it seemed to take every group there a few rounds of being "shushed" by the man whose job it seemed to be to do only that.  Quiet, of course, but silent?  The other problem was in the cafe, it took 20 plus minutes to get a really expensive smoothy ($7?).  Which seemed strange based on the low volume of people there.

I first visited the Scandinave in Mont Tremblant and it was so memorable I had to try this one in Whistler to compare. Lo and behold, the architecture of the buildings are the same, even the treatment rooms are the same, but I'm not sure its quite catching on here just yet as its not all that busy...not complaining just saying, its a good time to go! The only big difference here is that there is no natural river to dip in, otherwise its a beautiful location to just hang out and relax.

The steamroom is by far my favorite 'hot' treatment especially with the infusion of eucalyptus and the hammocks
are a great place to take a snooze, minus those damn horse flies near the adirondack chairs. Great place for couples or alone, you can choose to just use the hot and cold baths or add a massage. I opted for a Swedish massage, but it was on the light side...

The change rooms are fully equiped with shampoo, conditioner, soap and one hair dryer. Can't wait to come back in the winter!

I really enjoyed this place. I came on a day when I really need to escape the world. I drove in and it was in a secluded forest like area. The place was very very clean. I upgraded and got a robe but I think those should come included in the price. I got a Swedish massage and I was happy with my masseuse. From the cold pools, to the hot tubs to the sauna and the steam room, I loved them all. I wish there was one like this close to me, I'd get a membership. The outdoor area in the forested area was perfect. The only thing I got bummed about was that it's supposed to be silent spa and the day I went it wasn't really. I went by myself but most people who came were with friends. It's a bit tough to be quiet when you're hanging with your homeys. I am sure I would feel differently if I was going with a friend but I almost would prefer to go this place by myself so that I can fully enjoy it without distractions. Definitely coming here again and recommending it to all who go to Whistler.
