Attention men: Pimpy shoes are super rad. Buy your pimpy two-tone faux snakeskin metal-tipped pointy jaunty shoes here, pair them with a suit or some nice black jeans and I refuse to be blamed for staring you up and down. I can't say enough how sick I am of so many men's god-awful New Balance and similar runners, your hiking boots and your all-weather sporty outdoorsy, ugly ugly shoes. And your summer trekking sandals your (shudder) crocs, and everything else you should only be wearing to the gym or at the beach or up a mountain. THEY ARE NOT NEEDED ON THE SIDEWALK OR IN A BUILDING. Wearing nice shoes is as easy as just putting on something different in the morning. Not difficult. Ok, I am done. (There are also some more toned down shoes for those of you a tad less daring.)
For women, there are also excellent choices! Everything from pink sparkle knee-high heels to acetate platformed stripper shoes with a slot for tips, to almost-classy fuck-me heels, as well as cute rain boots, flats, and low heels. They have EVERYTHING. Whoever buys for this store has neat eclectic taste. -

Now I'm a guy who likes to occasionally buy nice things to wear and my biggest hurdle when I go looking is that either the men's store in question sucks, the men's wear section not only sucks but is tiny compared to the ladies section, or simply has been eliminated (as has happened to several stores I used to frequent for some nice duds).
While at Scalie Shoes, the ratio of men's to women's stuff is pretty much the same as any "unisex" store, this isn't even an issue because of the shear number of styles carried. In other words for a guy who likes some nice shoes, this place is Heaven! The styles range from total slacker casual to seriously dressy high end and everything in between. The service is great and the proprietor knows his stuff. When I described the shoe I was looking to replace, he brought me 3-4 suggestions in my size right away. He always has good specials which is amazing because his prices are much more affordable than any other store I've been to for quality footwear. And if you are a lady or even a man who wants to dress like one, there are literally a thousand or so styles for you to choose from.
Go to this store. You will buy shoes. -

Scalie Shoes is the strangest place. Over the last few years they've introduced many new styles, so a shoe store that once catered almost exclusively to strippers has now become a haven of interesting and decently priced footwear options.
There are definitely some crazy shoes here. Six inch platform boots with duckies or rolled up dollar bills in the clear platform; thigh-high fetish boots; men's shoes that would only suit a gangster, pimp, or high fashionista. But there are some excellent finds, too, of the more everyday variety.
One thing that can be said about most of the shoes at Scalie sells is that they aren't suitable for someone who wants to blend in. But who wants to be like everyone else? -

If pimps and hos had their own shoe store then Scalie Shoes would be it...
The windows are filled with knee high boots made from every god awful leather concoction you could think of..picture it..green snake skin with purple trim and gold buckles....I will give them this though...it makes you stop and go in...
The men's has a lot of pimpin' steel wing tipped pointy dress shoes and a leather color selection out of this world...turquoise loafers any one?
I didn't recognize most of the brands but they did have a great selection of Converse sneakers for the hipsters and Skechers for...does any one wear Skechers and any more??
Totally worth the trip to Kingsgate if even just to see it to believe it...
