Come here instead of the Starbucks, is better on all levels, warm, great coffee and amazing avocado sandwich.
The lady who owns it is so nice, like an old friend. Come down for a coffee! -

Savoury Grounds was one of those unplanned Coffee stops which I have been having a lot lately..
Small Cappuccino in a big mug for ($2.50).. pretty good value... The roast itself was quite good, but I found it a little too foamy
The back of the store where that they set up the actual roaster was more cozy but lack electric outlets.. so if you have a laptop, I suggest park yourself either in the bar stools facing the street or the smaller tables in the front.
The services we received was friendly and nice.. so I have no complaints at all! -

I have never had a problem with the service at the Savory Grounds. The coffee is great, as are the treats when I give in and have one.
The only complaint I have about the place, as with their old location, is the 'stroller unfriendly-ness' of the space. Can hardly get in.
I am not going to leave my baby outside, nor hold her while I balance a coffee. It is enough of a problem to send me to Starbucks. And enough to dock them a star! -
Review from Roanna Z.
I have passed this place more than once with the thought of a return one day. Today was that day.
When you enter a cafe, be it large or small, it's always lovely to see an actual Roaster on the premises. You know you're getting a good cup.
Unfortunately, when the server has some sort of secret chip against non regulars that comes out in the form of a complete lack of gratitude for tip and or compliment, it does have an affect on the general experience of the customer.
When an owner leaves one person in charge of the place and it happens to be that person who thinks that the correct response to "good Capp" is, and I quote here: "Oh."
That makes quite an impression! A bad one.
I will not be back. -

(Really 3.5 stars)
I hadn't been here for a long time, and would have agreed with Roanna regarding the service. I decided to try again yesterday, and the person who made my latte was actually quite pleasant. A nice surprise.
This is a cool little place in an interesting stand-alone building*, and is a definite step-up from any of the chains. I could actually taste the coffee...not just warm milk. Keep your fingers crossed about the service, and enjoy a good coffee.
*No longer. They moved a few doors west to 959.Listed in: Coffee
