Went there tonight because a friend wanted all you can eat sushi in Edmonton
We could only find this place or Zen.
Zen was full so we thought we'd try this place
From the outside it looks like a dive or a factory even
Inside was much nicer than we thought
Not fancy, just nicer than we thought when we saw the building
The food was ok
I paid the all you can eat price and wish I didn't
The service was very slow
Wait staff were smiley and pleasant, just slow service -

This is an all you can eat place that at $27/adult isn't bad. But if you ordered from the regular menu, you come to realize just how mediocre the quality is. Maki rolls are OK, but mine were so cold they had clearly been premade and sat in the fridge. Oyster ponzu was missing the ponzu and the coating was really heavy - like an A+W onion ring.
So if you are really hungry and want to eat several plates of rolls and greasy tempura then this is for you. Granted sometimes that is just what you're craving. But avoid the squid. -

Came here with a group of friends, cause we were hungry after a long day of school. First thing is that this place doesnt open till 4:30 so we had to go burn off some time at the mall downtown first before we came here to eat. There is parking in the side of the building close to the main road. And it seems a little ghetto because the entrance is in the back alley way but once you go in its very nicely decorated and asian like. We ate the sushi buffet which cost $30 dollars a person which is really pricey but we were hungry. You get a piece of paper to write your orders on and then they bring your food to you. Thing i dislike the most is that they have a limit on some items on the menu, the one that bothered me was the shashimi ( raw fish) , i love sashimi girlfriend got me hooked. but they limited it to 20 pieces a person. We also ordered 1 order of each of the sushi rolls on the menu, i personally liked the dragon roll, and the rainbow roll, and the BC roll, the others were okay. If this place was cheaper id think i would come here often cause its a nice atmosphere when your here with a group, food is good. Servers are fast and polite. if you have a deep pocket and are hungry, try this place out!

I like to eat sushi. And I hang out with a lot of men who like to eat sushi. These men like to consume food in monsterous amounts. Which is why I practically live at Sapporo.
I will admit that this place is not "THE GREATEST SUSHI IN TOWN." But for an all you can eat place, this place is my favorite for many reasons. The fish is fresh and always prepared and presented nicely. I adore the staff and they are excellent and attentive. They have a large menu capable of pleasing even my seafood-hating friends. And the price ain't bad either. They also offer a menu (which I have to admit, I have never tried) but I know the menu has an even wider assortment of foods beyond what is offered on the buffet.
Sapporo doesn't offer a separate all-you-can-eat pricing for lunch and dinner - so no matter when you go, the price is the same - $23 per person. However the menu is always the same too. The only limits they place on their order are the sashimi, the baked oyster, and the baked seafood, which is understandable in my eyes. There is a limit of 20 pieces of sashimi per person. And the sashimi is good, if not cut a little thinly. But it's fresh, melt in your mouth, and delicious. Plus I've eaten here a few times a month for the past couple of years, and I have never once gotten sick. Highfive!
They offer a wide assortment of maki and cones, as well as hot food such as tempura (veg and shrimp), spring rolls, chicken and beef teriyaki soups and much more. They are an all you can eat place, but they do expect you to eat what you order and will charge you a few bucks if you don't (they just wrap it up and you take it home). They do this for obvious reasons and I can't say I have any quams with it.
The restaurant is located in a shifty area of town, just east of the hospital and kind of in an alley off of 101st. I have never had any problems before (and I've been coming here since this location opened) but I have SEEN homeless people in the area. The inside of the restaurant is simple but quite nice - lots of seating and they are good with groups (however each person at the table must be having all-you-can-eat - I don't see how this is a problem as I can imagine people ripping them off if they didn't stick to this rule). Reservations are very helpful, especially for weekend nights, but I have walked in with a large group of 8 with no notice (it was an accident! I swear!) and they were super accomodating and very friendly.
Let's be realistic here. We live in Edmonton, not Vancouver (or a city with an ocean). This sushi is not five star unbelievable. But for the price you are paying and to eat as much as you like, I'd say it's pretty wonderful. -

I had never heard of this place until a colleague suggested we go. I was a little leary as the entrance is in the alley but when we went in, it was decent decor. I decided on the bento box which came with soup, chicken teriyaki, tempura, and sushi. Compared to other places, it was average. I found the chicken to be a bit bland and sauced up. The tempera pieces were smaller than other restaurants. But the sushi did taste fresh and good. For $10, it was a decent meal and the server was attentive. If I were in the area and craving Japanese food, I would try it again but I would not make a special trip there.

"All you can eat" and "quality." It is difficult, at best, to plausibly use these words in the same sentence. It is a conundrum, a quandary, or an oxymoron, depending on the circumstances. At Sapporo, the service was painfully slow, the waitress misplaced our order, and the sushi was so very average. The deep-fried roll was atrocious; they doused it with so much mayo that no other flavour was detectable. I did like the decor.... you can never go wrong with Maneki Neko.

Sapporo is a terrible Sushi house. The Sashami is limited and very thin small pieces, sent back disgusting oysters, makis are bland and squid was awful. You are better off going to Safeway and buying store sushi and a pound of raw salmon. Easily Sapporos is the worst Sushi place in Edmonton. Not worth the effort or money going there for a sushi experience.

If you like Sushi then you have to give this place a try. The menu offers a lot of unique twists on some of the classic, simpler rolls. The menu also extends beyond just sushi like most restaurants so even if you aren't a huge sushi fan you may still want to check it out.
I can never figure out why so many Sushi places look shady from the outside but are so glamorous on the inside. The outside is enough to scare someone off, but once you get inside you are able to appreciate how nicely the place is put together. The service was OK, not very attentive but very friendly.
If you aren't set in your ways and like trying out different sushi places around the city make this one next on your list. -

You like SUSHI?!? This is the place to go in Edmonton. The chef here has some great ideas that range in creativity for different makis and rolls. Now you can be boring and try the California Roll or try something new like the Philadelphia roll. They do have sashimi for the taste in you animals. For the weak stomachs, they do have cooked dishes as well. Friday dinner time, 6 adventurers tried what we like to call the Sushi BUFFET. Let me tell you the outcome first...we were all full. What made us full was 120 pieces of sashimi (A Mix of tuna and salmon), 12 heart attacks...by this I mean baked oysters...oh snap, it was good, but not the size of Zen...did I say Zen. Mwahaha, you have been replaced. Also the baked seafood mix i would say taste way better at Zen as well even though they recycle their shells...ew Josie grossie. A few orders of maki rolls that were different varieties and also miso soup, sunonomo, sprout salad, yakisoba, beef teriyaki, and dumplings with a fair share of tempura as well...I know i know you are thinking what kind of pigs ate all this food...Let me just say some hungry hungry hippos ate all this food. Almost everyone starved themselves for this food...Except Roger. LOL
The one dish that stuck in my mind was a salmon sushi roll dipped in batter and deep fried and topped with a spicy mayonaisse sauce, this was the first dish that was brought out and it was GOOD! We also ended the meal with this which was a struggle to finish.
All in all the decor in this place was very nice, a total 180 compared to the entrance which was the ghetto. You have to go to the back of the building which across the alley is this crazy cat ladies house which always seems to have 3-4 cats waiting outside its door.
Price for the meal was 25.99, service could have been better, they didn't even offer a refill on my pop...boo. At least offer a refill. A funny story out of the night was the chef, he always looked so angry. he startedt o yell at his one staff to charge more to some patrons as they did not eat his delectable delights. His face was that of a blow fish that looked so ANGRY!. HEHEHE...joking aside i would eat here again. Like our one companion that came and ate with us...bring your own dessert...Peace out...E-town. -

Because Edmonton has very limited AYCE japanese restaurants-it's pretty much here or Zen-I guess the owner does not feel there's much competition. And I could tell. First of all, we went on a slow day when there was only one other table, and we ordered a little bit of hot food and some sushi. The hot food came out first, and we finished it pretty quick. I could see our plate of sushi was ready, but the sushi chef (maybe the manager/owner?) would not give us our cold food - my guess is to slow us down so that we feel fuller. I could see it sitting on the sushi bar, but he whispered something to the waitress and she wouldn't bring it for another 10 minutes!! The food was not impressive at all - fish wasn't fresh, and the deep fried dishes were too oily. Maki rolls had waaaay too much rice. We didn't even bother to order more - just wanted to get out of there. Service was really slow and uncomfortable. Also, it's kind of a half-basement without any windows, and as soon as i stepped in the restaurant, I could smell fish and oil. Maybe i'm too sensitive to smell, but not pleasant at all. Would not go back.
