The decor is expensive, either you love it or don't care. But it does have some cool features,  like stars that shine thru the floor, 3 d photo artwork, bubble chandler . The happy hour is really cheap but they have an amazing selection of liquor that you don't normally see.  Beer selection is special too. The thing that made it special are the bartenders that make drinks that taste amazing that you never seem before.  Don't know if they will be there when you visit so good luck.

I have been impressed with the progress of The Sapphire Lounge. Their prices are absolutely within norms for specialty drinks in a non-divey bar, their happy hour is amazing ($4 flatbread pizzas, $3.50 premium wells), and the main manager/bartender is pleasant, a good mixer, and willing to take feedback. I kind of adore this place. A classier option n the west side of downtown.

Maybe they put something in the drinks, maybe the management is writing their own reviews, but I cannot imagine why this place has so many good reviews. This place is overrated with a capital O. The drinks are overpriced and weak. The food is bland and requisite. The seats are about as comfortable as a McDonald's and the tables are these tragic leather cubes, set at foot level. Be careful not cross your legs, lest you inadvertently boot your cocktail across the room.

Worst yet, the owner is this pompous Californian landbaron (apparently) that hangs out in his own bar, nattering endlessly about the ingredients and all the local land he's bought and bla-friggin-blabla. Insufferable. This place was built to swindle out-of-towners exactly once.

Updated (12/29/11): The drink menu has totally changed and it lost its magic. I still enjoy the Sapphire Lounge but their prices haven't changed to reflect the newer menu and I now think they're over-priced. Their cocktail glasses are too big for the serving sizes and you feel like you're getting 70% of a full drink, though this could simply be an illusion. I originally gave the Sapphire Lounge five stars for the reasons below but I think three stars better reflects their current state.

    ------

Spokane has a bar on-par with some of the hippest and most fun places in San Francisco. Before nay-sayers cry blasphemy, let me explain lest I lose all credibility. The Sapphire Lounge is a new addition to Spokane's downtown nightlife centrally located a few paces from Dempsey's and kitty-corner the Davenport. Small and intimate, the lounge successfully creates a truly chic atmosphere from the moment you reach the color-changing fiber optics in the walkway.

The true strength of the Sapphire Lounge is their drink menu. From what I've experienced, this is the only place in Spokane that serves raw egg in drinks. Besides the typical and complete nonsense that eggs are dangerous, it takes a lot of time and labor to create the appropriate texture. To feature multiple egg cocktails on the drink menu demonstrates a priority of quality over quantity but that's just the start.

According to one of the owners, many of their infused liquors are created in-house.  Gin is a particular specialty (my favorite) but vodka lovers are out-of-luck. The bar readily (and seemingly with pride) admits that their vodka selection is sparse; in fact, they only carry one flavor-infused vodka. Honestly? Good for them. It's true you might miss out on your favorite drink but the lounge is anything but a sell-out. Their creations are one-of-a-kind and if you're not willing to try one then you're in the wrong place.

My friend was surprised that the owner was a fan of the Italian Negroni; apparently this is only the second bar in Spokane (after Mizuna) that knows how to make the drink. This was my introduction to the amazing cocktail and several batches were made for our growing group of strangers-turned-friends. The menu is also littered with drinks containing Green Chartreuse (another favorite) and botanical-infused gins.

The Sapphire Lounge is all that it implies. Dress business-casual. It's difficult to find a place in Spokane where people eschew the baseball cap or hoodie for a night out but the lounge is full of well-dressed and incredibly interesting people. I ended up sitting next to someone born in South Africa while visitors from SoCal joined our conversation. It takes a lot to feel unworldly in Spokane but there I was, possibly the least interesting of the crew. Nonetheless, the friendliness of everyone permeates the cozy lounge and the environment entirely comfortable, which is something that can be difficult to find in bigger cities.

The small size is unfortunate because it's inevitable that the venue will grow in popularity but it worked for my visit. The drinks aren't cheap (about $9-$10 each) but they're well worth the price. I'm glad their menu isn't 90% vodka drinks but the liquor is hardly the black plague.  Just make sure to stop by. The Sapphire Lounge is one of Spokane's best jewels.

One of a few places in town with chic ambiance.  It almost felt like I was in a posh little bar in NYC.  It's small, intimate, has very attentive bar tenders that really customize drinks to your liking, and pretty good food for not being a restaurant.

Best for couples on a date.  The friend, "I'm pretty sure they thought we were lesbians."  Lmao.

Park on the street, then walk it out.

Best drinks I've found in Spokane.  Bartenders are friendly and knowledgable.  It's a small space, which is a big plus in some ways (intimate, cozy, not too noisy, etc.) but a minus in others (limited seating, small kitchen, limited selection of spirits).
If you like a well-crafted cocktail, however, this place is a must.

Nope. Nice space, but over priced, pretentious (metal straws?), and over priced (see what I did there?). Enjoy a photo of my $9 Black Russian!

My wife and I stayed at The Ruby Hotel for the night. The receptionist at the hotel suggested that we have a bite to eat at the lounge. It was closing time for the kitchen but they fired up the oven and made us one of their signature potpies with a tasty salad on the side. That was only the beginning. The food is very good (five stars) but the bar is the reason to go to Sapphire. The bar tender is beyond creative. The drink menu includes a drink called the Ken Kesey. You have to smell it and taste it to believe it. The bourbon smash is smooth. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the smash. Worth the stop if you're passing through or just hang out there if you're a local.

Spokane has arrived! World class cocktail lounge. This is the real deal, folks. If you are looking for cocktails that could go up against the best, look no further. Everything in here is hand crafted and made with care. The atmosphere is stylish and friendly. The perfect place for a pre-dinner cocktail.

Enjoyed a few hours at Sapphire Lounge the other night. Very knowledgeable and courteous staff. The mixologist behind the bar really knew his stuff; recommended some great beers and made some truly inspired cocktails. The interior design, ambiance and attention to detail really set this place apart from other nightspots in Spokane. I highly recommend it!
