Sapori has by far the best brick oven pizza I have ever tasted! If you are looking for authentic Italian pizza, this is your place!  I have been searching for a good pizza place and Sapori has by far exceeded my expectations. The decor is very welcoming and the staff is super friendly and attentive! I can not wait until the summer so I can dine on the outer patio!

If you find yourself in the area this place is worth checking out! And if not in the area it is definitely worth the trip! I will be dining here again very soon.

    Yum!!
My sister and I went in for a casual dinner. We are Italian American and cook a LOT of Italian food.
Must say this place did a great job.  Sis had the branzino, and I, the seafood linguine. Both were very tasty, well done. Nothing over or under cooked.
The waitress, although super busy, was very attentive, as well as the rest of the staff.
The owner, extremely friendly and hospitable, let us know he has only been open for 2 weeks and is converting his outdoor patio to be covered and heated!!!
This looks like it will be a neighborhood gem!!!
PS- while very cool that  its BYOB right now, once I see a wine list, will I then be able to fully assess stardom :-)

Best wood oven pizza I have ever had !!!!!!
Also tried there baby octopus in a tomato sauce and a special fish risotto cooked to perfection while sitting in the gorgeous rear patio terrazzo al fresco :)).
SAPORI is by far the best new restaurant in Murray hill.

On a recent 3 night trip to NY, I happened to walk by this place on my last night.  Anthony, the charming owner, excitedly beckoned me inside to show off the romantic outdoor patio and have a look at the menu. They've only been open 2 1/2 weeks but they know what they want to do here and it shows. I'd actually already eaten dinner someplace else, but after being talked into trying the rigatoni bolognese, Anthony asked me, "Do you want pepper on that? Red or black?" "Both", I said.
"Ah, this is the best way to have bolognese," he said--and he was right...spicy, perfect blend of sauce and meat...and I ate every bite. The tiramisu is homemade on site and it's worth the splurge...have some Lambrusco along with it. I only wish I had discovered Sapori the first night in town...I could've had even more fun. I suggest you get there too. You won't be sorry.

Great addition to the neighborhood.  Great pizza, nice airy dough, and yummy toppings, try the proscuitto mozzarella, but skip the very average ceasar salad... it left something to be desired.  Didn't try the pastas yet but am excited to go back and try.  Best part about it?  BYOB (no corkage fee either!) + a really pretty OUTDOOR PATIO.  Inexpensive, and outdoor space for the summer?  check mark.

This was the worst dining experience of my life! I hope that I never encounter another restaurant like this or a staff that is so outwardly rude.

To start our reservation was given away and we had to wait over an hour to be seated.  With many apologies from the host, we were excited to start our meal.  This was not the case by any means, it took over 30 minutes until we finally got the right menus and our bottles of wine open.  Over an hour after we were seated did the appetizers start to come out, and they slowly came out one by one (we ordered 6).  Dinners took another hour before they came out, and they also came out one by one. The food was not horrible, but it was hard to enjoy a dinner with 8 friends when the all the food came out at different times.

The worst part was not the service, the waiting, or the cold food.  For me the fact that the staff then became agitated with us and began arguing and yelling at us pushed me over the edge.  The chef got upset with us because we told him we were disappointed in the speed of service. He also tried to withhold our bottle of wine, while yelling at us for being too loud and disturbing the other patrons (which there were none).  This was right after he took off his chef jacket and was doing tequila shots with the table next to us.

I had hoped that the night was going to be an unforgettable night out with new friends.  The night will go down as one of the most unforgettable dining experiences of our lives, but for all the wrong reasons!

The worst short ribs I have ever had anywhere! I asked for short ribs, the waiter said the polenta is not done, so I will give you cous cous. I said no thanks I detest cous cous. He said I will give you veggies or something else. I said great. I was dining with 2 others. All the food came out and guess what?? Cous cous. And the single short rib was a bone and fat with NO MEAT. AWFUL.....
The waiter was the pushiest waiter I have ever seen.
They have no liquor license so its BYO. Then they had the audacity to charge a corkage fee!!! Amazing.
And the meat pizza had about 1/10 of an ounce of meat and even less cheese.
    AVOID THIS PLACE.
I called to complain to the manager and the waiters wouldn't let me speak to him.
This place will not make it.

I knew this would be a great place as soon as I walked in. The scent of the wood burning oven and the delicious food aroma was a good sign.

I got a personal sized pizza capriciosa (artichoke hearts, prosciutto, olives) and my friend had a margherita.  They were absolutely delicious: excellent quality ingredients, cooked perfectly, and the dough was excellent - I ate all of the crust.  It's refreshing to see this quality of ingredients.  Not the greasy mozzarella, but real mozzarella and real toppings.  The tomato sauce was fresh so it did not need any extra oregano, pepper, garlic etc. at all.

    Friendly and prompt service.
Good for groups or more intimate meals.
    Comfortable
    Spotless and well-maintained.

Definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 for quality.

My new go-to place in the area.  Next time I'll also try other dishes from their menu.

I work in the area and I'm bored with the food there., most of it sucks if you're a foodie.. plus I've eaten it 5 days a week for years..  so a couple of days ago when it was spring like warm (weird weather), I went for a walk looking for some variety.. Came across Sapori.. I don't usually eat at places with such few reviews but they looked new and I was desperate for some new food.

Never found a pizzeria in the area that I like but I'm diggin Sapori.. They could use a few more pizza toppings (yes I know pineapple & ham is considered an insult to pizza but I still love it, blame a poorly spent youth eating Dominos) and I wouldn't mind being able to buy it by the slice (I can't eat an entire pie for lunch!) but their food is great and its definitely the best pizzeria in the area.

The quality of the food seems to be pretty high and I think the mozzarella is homestyle, which I prefer over the shredded processed stuff you get at most pizzerias.. Overall they seem to be using really good materials (sauce was good, fresh basil, etc)..

Warning if you don't like a little  char on your pizza then you should probably go with another dish.. They have a wood burning oven, so it gets cooked a bit unevenly.. Not that its bad at all but if you're not used to wood fired pizza you might not get it.. I'd say try it, its waaaaaay better. But I tend to like anything cooked with a wood fire.. =)

The owner seems like a really nice guy and he offered me a few sample a pasta dish which was also really good.

If I was only comparing them to pizzeria's, I'd give em a 4 1/2 (only Grimaldi's and L&B Spumoni gardens is a 5 in my book) but I gave them a 4 because its not the sort of restaurant I'd give a 5 on yelp.. Traif is a 5 but its a totally different style of food  & dining experience.

Great little place that just opened up across the street. Now, I would normally give a casual Italian restaurant like this 4 stars, as I feel 5 star dining is a calibur like Per Se or Eleven Madison, but the food was just so delicious. I guarantee, after a month or so of working out the smaller kinks, this place will be busy. **NO liquor license yet, so you can BYOB and there is no corkage fee!

It's small and it's quaint, and it's laid back vibe give it the true feeling of a pizzeria. Right when you walk in it's tough to miss the giant brick pizza oven in the back. Smells of garlic and marinara roam the air and immediately constitutes your decision to dine here.

Our waitress had a little difficulty with English, but to be honest that is what I want. I want authentic Italian, and I would hope so does everyone else. She recommended some excellent dishes; an appetizer with buffalo mozzarella, tomato and prosciutto which was full of flavor...we demolished it to say the least. A large, smoked portobello mushroom on top really made the dish.

My date and I shared the linguine with several types of shell fish. It was recommended as their seafood is freshly caught. We also shared one of their wood fired pizzas, the Pizza Capricciosa. Crust was perfection. Such a great pizza.

Don't leave without trying their home made tiramisu, or a strong italian roast espresso macchiato. Mmmm

I love this place, so happy to have it in our neighborhood. Can't wait for summertime when the back patio is open!

I have had my fair share of pizza and this place is by far the best! The crust was light, thin, and cooked to perfection. I can't wait to go back to try some of the pasta dishes too. The atmosphere and prices were great and the service was excellent. I definitely recommend this place if you're in the neighborhood, and if you're not - it's worth the trip!

Only tried the pizza, capricciosa to be exact - olives, prosciutto, carciofi, mozzarella. Very good. Exceptional crust, both crispy and chewy. A twelve inch feeds two for lunch nicely and cheaply. Friendly service, charming setting. Hope this place does well. My limited introduction to it was pleasant indeed.
