This restaurant is pretty hard to miss. It's right across the Rideau Centre, and it is attached to the Sante Spa on the second floor. From the restaurant view on the second floor, you can see Chateau Laurier. Sante is a very short walk from the Parliament, also.

When you walk in, you'll smell the good scents coming from next door, and it immediately puts you in a good mood.

The restaurant is a pretty one. The first few tables consist of red lounge type seats. Towards the back you get longer tables with regular dining seats. At the back on the right, there is a long table that's a bit segregated with a wall, perfect for private parties.

Also, their silverware set up and glasses are aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well!

Random paintings hang on the wall, too. Very pretty.

I came with 4 friends, we were waiting for another friend but she took almost two hours to meet us. Since only one other table was there, our server didn't mind at all. She was so kind!

We were served a cheddar jalapeno bread, which was SUPERB.

While we waited we ordered appetizers. I had their Chicken Satay, which was pretty good. I also had their Tom Yum Soup, which gave a VERY generous amount of shrimp, which I didn't expect. This soup was good!

For my entree, I had their Pad Thai. It's not cooked like regular Pad Thai, but it's REALLY good nonetheless. It's cooked Malasyian style. I'm surprised I even enjoyed it, since I'm very picky with Thai food after having worked at a really good Thai restaurant in Chicago.

I love my food extra spicy, but I know how spicy Asian good can get, so I asked our server for an opinion. She said medium was soo spicy, and to just get a mild. She looked believable since she said it was such conviction! I shouldn't have trusted her. The mild tasted like no spices were added at all.

My friend on the other hand, was disappointed with her food. She also does food reviews so I trust her opinion. She had their Seafood Sizzler, which she said was overcooked, had bland sauce, and was nowhere near worth the $29. Her boyfriend also tried the lamb, which was very ordinary.

I was very pleased with my food, thus the four stars. Also, this restaurant gets a lot of points for pulling off "asian fusion", since most of the time none of their food is really that great.

I would definitely come back for the food I ordered, maybe not for their seafood dishes, though.

Grab a mint on your way out! It's served in a glass with your bill, so good!

Lots of pictures uploaded, be sure to check them out!

Just down the street from Parliament and around the corner from the Market, Sante sits on the second floor and has a great view of the downtown corridor.
We went with a large group during Ottawa race weekend. Service was A+ for effort, but seemed a little scattered and inept at making a good mixed drink. So, stick to beer or wine with your asian-fusion food.
The chef/owners are Vietnamese, but I guess since Thai food has hit it big, that's what they focus on. The Pad Thai dish is actually quite small, whereas many of the other dishes are massive portions.
In addition to pleasing the masses with Thai food, instead of sticking to native Vietnamese fair, they go even further and serve steak.  The steaks for our large group all came out in good timing and cooked to order- medium or medium rare depending on what had been ordered.
There are several weaknesses here. I'm pretty sure the flavors are close to Thai, but not quite spot-on. Probably because there is a little vietnamese flavor to the cooking style.
This is perfectly reasonable option and since there are so many negative reviews for the Metropolitain which is just across the street, give it a try. Prices are reasonable.
Welcome tea is really delicious, too!
