Hello Kitty here. Hello Kitty there. Hello Kitty everywhere! Sanrio is Hello Kitty heaven! I've never seen so much Hello Kitty stuff in one place. I'm not really into Hello Kitty, but I like looking at Japanese stuff, because it's usually pretty cool.
The whole store is mostly pink and white, and it's filled with lots of pretty n' cute merchandise. There's lots of Hello Kitty stationary, like pens, notepads, and pencil cases. I also saw Hello Kitty apparel, Hello Kitty keychains, and Hello Kitty plush toys. You might think that most of this stuff is for kids only, but they had a lot of merchandise that was suited for adults, like big Hello Kitty suitcases.
This store also has a few items that were not affiliated with Hello Kitty, like the Astroboy key chains. These were awesome, and I think I might come back and buy one for either myself or as a gift for someone. -

Sanrio is the home of Hello Kitty at West Edmonton Mall. And Hello Kitty is the Japanese female and feline equivalent of Mickey Mouse. You'll find everything Hello Kitty here at Sanrio, along with her friends, like Kerropi the frog and Pochacco the puppy.
It's very pink and cutesy in this shop, so if that kind of stuff makes you hurl, this may not be your place. It's more for young girls, since they love all that cute stuff, but I know girls in high school still go gaga over it. I think it makes a girl feel like a princess. A friend of mine was obsessed with Hello Kitty and vowed to have her whole room decked out in feline fashion. I have no idea if her room is still like that, but I really hope not.
Of course, this store can still be for us gals who like to spoil the kid in us sometimes, depending on what item you get. They have pens and stationary, bags, backpacks, and various house decor items like clocks, pillows, even themed trash cans. I think the trash cans are a bit much, but I've bought cute wallets and stationary from here before.
They also have one of those little photo booths where you can take pictures with your friends. You usually see young girls in middle school giggling and squeezing in it though. It makes me reminisce; I remember when I was like that (and it makes me cringe). But while I find myself a little older for this store, I still like to come here once in awhile and get something cute and fun. -

I have to admit I find Hello Kitty sort of cute, but an entire store dedicated to this Asian phenomenon? Come on! Is Hello Kitty even that well known in North America? I hardly ever see anyone in this store and I am amazed it has lasted a number of years. Since most of the items here are imported, they aren't cheap, but they aren't very expensive either. Most of the things here are for kids, like plush toys, lunchboxes, and novelty items. Believe it or not, some items here are for adults also, although I have yet to see an adult wearing or using Hello Kitty merchandise.
