Review from Alison S.
I like their daily specials, and (I'm a little sheepish to say this), but for a ramen joint, they have really good chicken wings.
If there's anything I like on this earth (other than writing Yelp reviews, of course), it's chicken wings. And Sanpachi's wings are crunchy, salty, sweet, and juicy. Unfortunately, at regular price they are a little on the expensive side, but on the weekends they go on special and you can enjoy some chickeny goodness alongside your ramen.
The ramen here isn't shabby either. I've only tried the miso ramen so far. The "tasty egg" is indeed, tasty, being marinated and soft boiled.
Sanpachi also has daily cocktail specials, which I have not yet tried but I've been told they are tasty but not very strong. -

More of a so-so than an a-ok.
This review is a bit of a mixed bag.
Shio ramen, shoyu chashu ramen, chicken karaage ordered.
The noodle quality was only ok. Texture seemed like it was not fresh because there was not much chew nor a twisted shape form. That indicates to me that the noodle is possibly dried and came from a box.
The shio broth was not bad, but I've been spoiled by Motomachi. Same goes for the shoyu broth, not bad.
The pork used in both ramens were very tender and well seasoned. Quite tasty, and a generous amount was served.
The chicken karaage was a bit of a disappointment. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned but the batter was too thick and was a bit hard and crunchy on the outside.
For this area, Kits, the ramen would likely stand on it's own. Compare it to ramen row on Denman and Robson, it's no match. -

Sanpachi is by far my favourite ramen restaurant in town. The thought of this place makes me hunger.
A lot of you will probably think I'm crazy for doing this but this is what I order every time I come here: a large bowl of buttered corn ramen in tonkotsu base with extra noodles and a 'tasty egg'.
Allow me to elaborate:
The buttered corn ramen is your typical ramen with cha-shu (pork slices), vegetable garnishes and noodles. In addition, there is a heaping mound of corn with a whole stick of butter melting on top (see my photo if you don't believe me). The tonkotsu base is Japanese pork bone broth and the "tasty egg" is literally a tasty egg! I've no idea what they did with these eggs but their texture and yolk are ridiculously delicious (I'd recommend it).
Another awesome item to point out is their happy hour. I happen to fortuitously eat during said happy hour and was presented with an extremely cheap, irresistible oyster special. Happy hour items are, however, seasonal so you never know what it'll be.
All-in-all, the service here is great, the people are friendly and I think Sanpachi is about as close as it gets to an authentic Japanese ramen house in Vancouver.
I love this place! Cheers.Listed in: Places You MUST Visit!

I used to live in Sapporo. After snowboarding the fresh Hokkaido powder all day, the best meal to have was a hot bowl of ramen.
I went snowboarding on Grouse today, and guess what I was craving. Ramen.
Wanted to try out Sanpachi, as this is a chain from Hokkaido. They have a location in the West End, but this location is much more convenient for me.
I'm happy that there are more ramen shops in Vancouver. -

The good: Service very quick and attentive.
The OK: the chashu was plentiful and of good quality
The not-so-good: The tonkotsu broth was too salty and not full bodied. The noodles were obviously packaged.
The bad: at $10.95 for the tonkotsu chashu ramen I expect better. -

Good food, good company, plentiful booze and good service-this place has it all!
One caution-as one of my friends found out-a bowl of Ramen is *huge* meal-especially if you've ordered a bunch of other stuff that also looked great.
They let him take him take home what he couldn't eat. -

This is a great place for friends to get together and have some food and drinks, the atmosphere is really good and service is very friendly and helpful. All I can say is I can't wait to head over there soon. Go for the wings, fresh oysters and Sapporo beer, it's a great combo!

We discovered this place recently - good restaurant! Nice, broad menu - they do excellent ramen as well as a host of other yummy izakaya dishes. There were a host of TVs showing the hockey game (bonus!) but it wasn't too obtrusive for the dinner. Nice ambience, great service and good prices!
