I would only recommend coming here in the summer, because they have a great patio that faces onto False Creek and the seawall. It can be a really refreshing way to sip away a sunny afternoon. And there's nothing wrong with their drink menu!

I guess the only other reason to come here would be for the servers wearing white hot pants. I couldn't figure out if she meant to wear something so revealing for a job that requires bending over tables or if she fell into False Creek on her way to work and those were the only dry clothes she had.

I understand it's one of the less expensive options on G.I., but if you want cheaper dinner, try the food court in the public market. When it closes at 7pm there's always Backstage Lounge.

Pretty lame.  Granted we went during the Olympics and apparently the manager didn't realize they might want to have a full wait staff that week.  So slow service I could forgive, if the food was decent, which it really wasn't.  Two of us ordered fish tacos, the other two steaks, and no one was pleased, it was bland and overpriced for the amount/quality.  We usually make it a rule to not eat anywhere where every waitress is hot, because the hotter the waitress, the worse the food will taste.

Say what they may about chains, Sammi J has a wonderful patio right on the water, and not a bad menu. Also, the service is good. I'm not suggesting that locals go out of their way for Sammy J Pepp's, but if you're down here anyways..... enjoy like a tourist :-)

Server is not pleasant. Food is expensive and it's just average, but I understand it's a tourist place so that's why.

Bleh. Granville Island food can tend to be divided into two. One half is locally produced, fresh food that impresses and delights. The other half, including Sammy J. Peppers is chain restaurants that are just the same as you'd get anywhere.

It's not that there's not a place for Sammy J. Peppers. As other reviewers noted, it's a whole lot cheaper than other sit-down fare available on the island. But still, you're taking a huge hit in ingenuity and quality food for a somewhat lower price.

There's nothing wrong above the uninspired nature though. Fine, warm atmosphere, smiley hosts and quick food all come with fair regularity.

I guess someone could call me  snob for being less than excited about Sammy J. Pepper's but it's just not worth it to settle for less when you're surrounded by greater options.

After taking in the Capilano Suspension Bridge, we made our way through Vancouver, to Granville Island. Wow, parking is a nightmare, one needs patience, but so worth it. We stopped at Sammy J Peppers for lunch, and enjoyed it very much. The patio overlooks the water, and offers a casual dining experience. Initially I was disappointed when going over the menu as I prefer to order vegetarian and there were not many choices, fortunately I asked our server and she advised that all of the burgers on the menu can be ordered with a veggie burger. Glad I asked as it was not printed on the menu. The food was very good, perfectly cooked and served hot!

At this time of year as the evenings stay brighter longer- this patio is a great place to be.  And what better to keep you company than a Patron margarita.  The tequila we all know and love.  It's a mix of liquid and frozen.  Does that make sense?  It's literally both.  Picture on the rocks, minus the rocks, and then a little splash of frozen margarita added in.  I like!

I was with a group of people and suggested that we eat at Sammy J Peppers. I'd never eaten there before so I decided to go along with it. I was pretty disappointed since they don't have much on the menu for vegetarians. Sammy J Peppers has burgers, steak sandwiches, chicken, ribs, steak, and seafood. I think I ended up eating the seven layer dip. It was okay. With all the food available on Granville Island, I'd suggest skipping Sammy J Peppers.
