I visited on New Years Eve for lunch and had the pizza which was 5 stars!  Crusty, Flaky,  Sweet and Light.  Wonderful Pizza!  I will return for an Italian dinner soon!

Thank you Yelp for leading me here!  I was staying at the Renaissance hotel and went to Yelp to find good reviews of nearby places.  Because I read the reviews I avoided 2 star Jerry Remy's for a 5 star lunch!!!  YUM!

all around -- okay. :) ambiance and staff is nice. outdoor seating is quaint and right near the water. can't beat that sometimes.

food was nothing exciting... but very decent nonetheless. the pizza was good... but there's better. the waitress recommended the linguine and meatballs. the marinara was a bit acidic... but hey -- if that's your thing, you'll love it. :)

not a bad place. worth trying to formulate your own opinion.

Afternoon lunch. What is this place? A sports bar? A CNBC tv crowd? Quiet crowd which was odd. Bartender was attentive to her patrons, it's just her patrons that were diverse! Some were work crews in the area, others were court house professionals, others were convention center attendees. A good mix. Waitress was fine, hostess was fine it's just an ok place.

Nothing drawing me back and certainly don't get why you would change the channel for 1 guy and crank up the volume of the Television so loud people look up at the ceiling and wonder. From quiet to sports bar in about 2 seconds.

    Just ok, not even A-ok.

This review is only for Salvatore's Express. The take out part for the restaurant itself.
It has it's own entrance way in which is not clearly marked.
The food is fresh, the pizza is usually good alot to choose from when it is hot & fresh, otherwise it has been sititng there for a while.
I usually get the Sicilian Panini sandwich there when I work at the hotel. cuz the employee cafeteria food sucks.
There usually is wait even if you call in the food ahead of time. We came by 20 minutes earlier & they said  it would be ready 10-15 minutes & we still had to wait 10 minutes. The Express part is very poorly managed. but I have never sat down for dinner yet, so I have no reviews

Unfortunately the manager of this restaurant has no clue how to manage his kitchen. When a party of 40 dines one should not seat other parties. Otherwise you will wait two hours for cold food. I would suggest going across the street for a fantastic meal and service  at Legal Harborside! Don't bother with  Salvatore's. If you want Italian go to Little Italy.

I am highly critical of Italian restaurants and hardly ever give above 3 stars, but Salvatore's deserves their 4. The service was great and the food was delicious. I ordered the chicken parmigiana. It was extremely juicyy and flavorful. The homemade (according to the menu) rigatoni was damn good too. The sauce is simple, tasty. Along with a few IPA's, you can't get much better. Definitely would recommend to others.

No need to go to the North End if you want really good italian food! The food here is just a good or better than in the North End. I would recommend the chicken Francesca or the spaghetti and (huge, mouth watering) meatballs.  Don't forget to save room for the incredible chocolate cake or wonderful cupcakes.  For take out, you can't wrong with the pizza, steak and cheese sub, and or grilled chicken panni.
The atmosphere is relaxing and cozy.  The bar staff is great.  If you don't know what you want to drink they will make suggestions or provide you with one of their signature drinks.
The prices are very reasonable.  For dinner and drinks for two is about $60.

The positive reviews on here must have been written by people who frequent the Olive Garden or Carrabba's or some place like that.

I sat at the bar, ordered a glass of wine, then the mozzarella caprese salad.  The wine selection is terrible and the salad was gross.  The service was beyond poor.

Then ordered the steak tips - they were awful as well.  I stomached one bite and then declared my meal finished.  They were teriyaki-soaked, chunks of low quality stew meat.  Sick.  And the server didn't seem to notice that I took ONE bite of my dinner...

I should have complained and not paid for a thing - since I didn't eat anything.  Guess I just didn't have the energy but I would NEVER be back.

If you're looking for Olive Garden quality of service and food, this place might be for you.  If you've ever been to a decent restaurant... don't waste your time.

Next door is a place called LTK that's a million times better.

The conference I was at offered a trolley to various restaurants in the area and a friend and I decided to try Salvatore which was recommended to us. We were seated promptly and was offered bread and oil. I ordered the burger (medium rare) with fries. I took a while to get the food, which is ok since its not a fast food joint, though when I got my burger it was a bit over done. Food was okay, though nothing special. Service was also average.

LOVE this place and their Lawrence location... just great! Food, Accommodations, staff... great time all around. :)

My fave is the Signature salad & Margherita pizza... I frequently order this. On another occasion, I was short on time for a birthday dinner celebration - this location went above and beyond with my order (which was take out by the way) of butternut ravioli, salad, bread, pasta sauce and dessert.

The restaurant itself has been remodeled and expanded into what used to be Pressed... Space is looking good and everything else is simply amazing!

Keep up the good work! Thank you!

I signed up for an account just to review this restaurant.

Don't get me wrong - they have delicious pizza. If you're in the area, definitely come in for a slice of pickup.

However, if you're ordering a pizza - DONT BOTHER UNLESS YOU LOVE WASTING TIME. On two occasions I've ordered pizza for pickup. The first time they didnt even start making the pizza until I arrived (when the pizza should've been ready). Today, I ordered a pizza and went to pick it up only to find that they NEVER SENT IN THE ORDER!! gah

All in all, great pizza, aweful management.

    Good luck

It was a long day of travel and we were absolutely knackered when we arrived to the hotel. All we wanted to do was shower then have some hot food delivered to us. After a recommendation from the concierge, thankfully we were able to do both.

The menu looked really good and we were hungry. I chose a couple of appetizers (some overly cheesy garlic bread and a great assortment of antipasti), a Caesar salad with sautéed shrimp for me and a Margherita. The pizza was absolutely gorgeous with its fresh tomato, Mozzarella di Bufala, basil, and a finished with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

All of our food arrived hot and within the time promised. We ended up ordering from them again during our stay and were pleased with the second delivery too.

I really want to give this place more stars, I do.  I'm a huge fan of Sal's Pizza and I'm still mourning the closing of the spin off Mary's Italian Kitchen in Andover that happened about 5 years back.  So you can imagine how excited I was to give Salvatore's a shot.  But overall my experience was really lacking here.

We were apart of a large party (20 people), with one very kind waiter, who seemed overwhelmed.  The restaurant was out of salmon, scallops, haddock and clams (keep in mind we're in the seaport district).

After ordering the food came out in waves.  The section that I was sitting with watched the entire party not only eat and but then have a 30 minute period of digestion before we were served our food 2 hours after we ordered.  During that time I was watching the Kitchen door open like a starving animal, watching kitchen staff come out to look around the restaurant.  Where was our food?

I'm really not sure what happened there, we all ordered pretty quick pasta dishes.  Despite this, I do have to say that the food was very delicious and flavorful.  I really enjoyed my entree.

As we wrapped up dinner there were incorrect charges on our bill that we had to have corrected multiple times before paying.

We also were shorted on the dessert that the party had provided to the restaurant.  At that point, this was just icing on the cake, or lack there of.

It really is a shame, because they have prime location in the Seaport district, but I don't plan on heading back any time soon.  They should increase the staff, or give them better training and put more staff on larger parties.  For the price we paid to park/eat/tip, it simply was more frustration than it was worth.

    I'll stick to Sal's Pizza.

I never realized how many restaurants there were in this part of South Boston till I made my way over to Salvatore's for dinner.  None of the metered spots were open, but some of the area restaurants offer valet parking, and there were garages available, but none of them seemed to post hourly rates for the casual pedestrian to easily spot.  We ended up paying $20 to park in a nearby garage.

From the outside, Salvatore's seems larger than it actually is.  They offer outdoor seating along the outside walls of the building.  Once inside, the bar area has high top tables.  If you prefer to sit with your feet on the ground, there is a small divided dining area in the back by the bathrooms.

They started us off with some sliced bread - chewy, even the crust - which I overheard another server telling our neighboring table was baked fresh, and olive oil dressed with balsamic vinegar that sunk to the bottom, roasted garlic cloves, and a couple of dried chili peppers.  I enjoyed smashing a clove into my bread and dressing it thoroughly with the olive oil.  The flavors weren't strong, but were satisfying alongside the chew of the bread.

When I inquired as to the best deal in the appetizers section of the menu, in terms of taste and portion, I was directed to the Calamari Fritti and the Bruschetta.  We ended up getting two seafood selections.

    CALAMARI FRITTI $11
Lightly breaded and deep fried to a golden brown, served
with a side of marinara sauce

    SCALLOPS LIMONCELLO $12
Pan-seared local scallops with limoncello cream sauce

The calamari was a tangle of both legs and rings, lightly fried to a nice crisp.  With a squeeze of lemon and the acid of the marinara sauce, it was a nice rendition of the popular appetizer.

My dc commented on the tenderness of the sea scallops (he normally prefers the smaller bay scallops).  Personally, I was caught up by the creamy lemoncello sauce - yum!  I was tempted to ask for some to go, but instead satisfied myself by dredging bits of my third slice of bread along the plate and into my mouth.

For entrees, I selected the BUTTERNUT RAVIOLI $18 -
Homemade butternut raviolis with a gorgonzola mascarpone
sauce, dried figs and roasted butternut squash

While my friend went with the *SIRLOIN PIZZAIOLA $22 -
Grilled All Natural 12oz sirloin with slow roasted tomatoes,
capers, peppers, garlic, shallots, and basil, served with chef's
    potato and vegetable

The ravioli arrived at least 11 pieces to the order.  Each one was at least 2 1/2 inches square, and smothered in the creamy sauce and dressed with lovely sweet figs and cubes of butternut squash.  Inside each was a lightly colored cheese filling along with additional cubes of the squash.  It was rich and tasty, and a nice change from all those other restaurants serving 8-9 flatter pieces for a similar price.  I ended up having them box about half of this for me for later.

The steak dish was too tomatoey for me... and I like tomatoes... but that's what you expect when ordering pizzaiola.  But the meat was tender, and the vegetables plentiful and still crisp or retained some body (depending on the veggie).

From our small sampling, portions here are great for the price.  If you avoid the other parts of the menu, you might be able to stuff yourself silly with a single entree, but what's the fun in that?

We finished off with a selection from the dessert menu that was oddly missing prices.  Their Signature Dessert turned out to be $8 for t he pizza and was plenty for 2-4 people to share.  I was done after 2 slices.  Nutella is good stuff on anything, so it was common sense to pair it with a regular pizza dough to tame its sweetness.

When we arrived, we were but the 2nd party to occupy the back dining room.  But by the time we left, our area was still half full, and the red lit patio area was pretty packed.

Service was decent, even though our server was kept busy with her many tables.  The only truely negative thing I can say about our experience, however is to comment on the the bathroom.  The bathroom stalls were amazingly dark, with the smaller toilets not flushing well.  This could definitely be improved upon.

3.5 stars, but I'm marking it with 3 rather than 4 because of the location and the tough parking situation.

The Seaport is the spot now, apparently! It reminds me a lot of Patriots' Place with Jerry Remy's, Legal Harborside and Temazcal. Unfortunately, all of those places have ridiculous wait times. So we wound up at Savatore's.

The cocktail menu offers versions of juice and liquor. I had my heart set on a margarita since about 2pm that afternoon, so I opted for that. Usually made with sweet and sour mix, I asked for straight up lime juice. They accommodated and the drink was well balanced, but perhaps lacking actual tequila. Lack of booze seemed to be a thing for the whole table and we ended our night with wine to get our dollar's worth.

The menu doesn't offer much variety - multiple variations of ravioli, pizza and parmesan. For apps, we had:
    - Shrimp Fra Diavlo Pizza: spicy tomato sauce was great, but the shrimp was pretty boring. The pizza's in general have a whole lot of crust area which I don't enjoy. Spread that sauce and cheese, man!
    - Calamari: ...it's calamari.
    - Buffalo Ravioli: fried raviolis topped with buffalo sauce. Huh?
    - Scallops: I didn't get to try them, but everyone raved about their taste. So I'd go for this.

You'll notice that a lot of the entrees come with the "chef's potato and vegetables", which makes you think they're going to be special in some way. But you'll get roasted red bliss potatoes with a medley of broccoli, squash, carrots and baby asparagus (which we suspect was previously frozen).

I ordered the Veal Marsala which is a huge, bone-in veal chop (see pic). The veal was cooked perfectly, but those who ordered the Tenderloin Gorgonzola were not so lucky. Both orders were overcooked. Those who ordered ravioli were pleased with their meals. My conclusion is that you should stick with the pasta here.

Salvatore's was passable, just not notable. The next time I hit this area, I'll just go on a Monday so I can hit one of the other places.

Food is an A+, service is in remedial summer school...

Friday afternoon in the summer on the seaport and I was buying lunch for my team...Salvatore's was the unanimous choice.  Being new to the area I was told that this was, by far, the best pizza that you could get.  We looked online and decided on two pies, one meat and one veggie.  I called the order in promptly and was told that it would be ready in twenty minutes...which was perfect!  Thirty minutes later a co-worker and I arrived at Salvatore's looking to collect our pizza's...when we were told it would be about another ten minutes.  We took a seat to wait and thirty five minutes later we finally had our lunch!  (and that was after we pestered them every ten minutes)  Due to our long wait we were given two cookies at the restaurant...which was nice.

I did email the manager after lunch to let him know what my experience was like.  He was more than apologetic about losing our order and offered to buy my next pie...which will get me to give a second try.

They also do prepared 'grab and go' lunches, as well as pizza by the slice...which is a great option for next time.

I came here for the first time one weekend in the summer.  They were able to accommodate a large group (15+).  It took awhile for all members of the party to arrive, but we received no complaints :-).  I loved the atmosphere...it was very modern and trendy with two separate rooms.  There is a bar in both rooms.  It has a great vibe in the atmosphere.  Dinner was amazing here, and it seems like a nice place to come for drinks.  Too bad I don't work in the area, otherwise it would have been a great place for happy hour.

As usually, as soon I see Lobster Ravioli on the menu, I don't need to look any further! Haha.  So that's exactly what I got! It was delicious...sauce was very flavorful.  Only downside to getting raviolis is the fact that there are only a few pieces to eat.  As a big eater, I devoured it fairly quickly and grabbed some bread to smear the leftover sauce :-P mmhm! However, once I finished my dish, I looked over to the others' plates...and their portions were much, much bigger than mines.  Many people got pasta dishes that they weren't able to finish.  For the price, I think it's a pretty good deal!

Only downside was the parking.  We circled around a bit before deciding to park in a parking lot.  I heard there was a concert in the area the night that we went, so I can't say for sure for other regular weekend nights.

I can't wait to go back some time soon! Maybe when it gets warmer :-)

In this neighborhood Salvatore's take-out counter represents one of the few reasonably priced meal options.

The pizza is great. I was visiting from New York, but I'm not pizza snob. I loved the thick crust. Be warned that one slice of cheese is $3.49 and is equivalent to about two normal slices. I tried the buffalo chicken, but found it too sweet. The cheese slice definitely was a homerun though.

Their wraps are also solid. I liked the chicken salad wrap with dried cranberries. Definitely make sure they put on some dressing or sauce because it was dry (but fresh and tasty).

Looking forward to my next visit so I can grab another slice for lunch.

Yeah, they got got excellent pastas and huge pizzas and do more take-out with more sanwich options (they expanded into the long-empty space of Pressed Sandwiches.  But they allso got BAD SERVICE.  THere's a blonde female bartender who pulls her hair back.  If you are a female, she will IGNORE you.  Whilst I am clearly a male, the female I was meeting at the bar arrived before me and filled me in on the sexual discrimination.  An occasional look around for the rest of the night confirmed the original assesment.  So ladies, if you come in alone, sit next to single men or you won't be noticed.

Since I work around the corner I used to order pizzas or calzones for lunch or dinner.  No longer do I bother.  Half the time you call ahead for a take-out order it is no where to be found when you do arrive.  The typical responce from the counter staff (all of whom surely got the superlative in Jr. High,  "Most Likely to drop out of High School") is a bewildered look, and the more astonished query, "Calzone"? The non-valedictorian's cohort will beack him up by saying, "Nah, no one made a calzone. You want one? 20 minutes."  Too bad half my 30 minute break is over by the time the closing line is uttered. Time for another mystery meat log at Seven-Eleven...

I was all psyched up to like Salvatore's.  It's just down the road from where I work, the price point per entree is reasonable-ish, and the atmosphere and decor are definitely fun.

However, when push comes to shove, the food was just not great.  Wasn't horrible, but also not nearly good enough for us to come back unless pressed.

My wife got the chicken parm, and I got a pasta abruzzese dish with mafalde pasta and pancetta in a spicy sauce.

My wife's chicken parm was OK, but nothing to write home about - the red sauce in her dish was bland and unappealing.

The sauce in my dish was zesty and good, but my pasta was cooked inconsistently, there were a few bits that were downright chewy and half cooked seeming.

The crowning bleh for both dishes was the preponderance of cherry tomatoes.  LOTS of them.  Firstly, I'm not used to seeing these guys in italian dishes like this, and secondly, while I would be delighted to be surprised, the net result is not good - they impart a really strong, tart flavor that overwhelms the sauce and overall ruins the dish, plus a bit bite of squishy flabby cooked cherry tomato is not the texture I am looking for in my italian food.

So, great atmosphere, nice staff, great location, but truly meh food.  Sad, really, as I said I was primed to like this place :)

Not normally open on Sundays, Salvatore's made an exception this past weekend and our party of 13 sat down for a nice post-law school graduation celebratory lunch yesterday (along with various other large graduation parties who came from the Seaport Convention Center).

We got to pick anything from the dinner menu (they do have a normal lunch menu which averages $7, but not today), and there was a ton to choose from, from pastas to meats to salads, all pretty classic Italian. I usually shy away from Italian restaurants, because it's so easy for Italian food to be mediocre and overpriced (plus I'd rather make it myself at home, and spend my hard-earned dining dollars on things I can't easily do), but I tip my hat to Salvatore's as they proved themselves as doing Italian quite well. Plus the prices were generally reasonable, especially for the crazy portion size.

I got the gnocchi ($15) which was excellent... the fire-roasted tomato sauce was really flavorful and the gnocchi wasn't totally heavy which is a plus. It was enough for two meals, so I got a doggie bag to take home (huzzah for having a tasty lunch today!). Options around the table varied but everyone was really happy with their food (flavors were excellent, things were cooked to perfection), and each plate had a bigger portion than the last (the veal parm looked like an entire cow had been used on the plate plus a pound of pasta, that was easily 3 meals in itself).

Service was excellent, especially for our large table, no complaints there (but of course this was a special occasion so it may not translate to their normal hours). I can't say I'd go out of my way to come down here, because if you're not already in the area it's just too much of a pain to get here and not unique/worth it enough IMO... but if I were in the area and needed a non-expensive solid Italian bite to eat, I'd look to Salvatore's.

So, my fiancé and I decided to stop in here after the flower show at the Seaport World Trade Center. We should have known to turn around after we realized it was the only restaurant not busy and actually dead during the flower show.

We decided to eat at the bar because the tables in the back seemed to uptight for what looked like a lunch place. I ordered the vegetarian wrap because it really sounds delicious on the menu. Grilled eggplant, sauteed zucchini, summer squash, mixed greens, sliced tomato and herb aioli YUM!

Well, Salvatore's here is my problem with you. Please do not advertise something on your menu and then produce something completely different and of such poor quality and expect me not to notice. What I got was a wrap with lettuce, frozen green beans and broccoli. No aioli, no dressing, just a poor excuse for a vegetarian wrap. I am sorry but if I had known that you were falsely advertising on your menu, I wouldn't have ordered it and attempted to try something else or better yet gone somewhere else.

Maybe I will stop by for a slice of pizza from the take out area because that's what it only seems to be good for.

I'll keep this quick, Salvatore's isn't bad however service is slow. I was told not to order a salad after the two other people in my group had ordered the same salad. Only because it was large but I should share. I realize I look young but I should at least be able to order what I want. Anyway, I ended up getting this pizza with dried figs, pancetta & balsamic drizzle. I didn't care for it & won't be back again.

Same thing as the Medford location.  Good American-Italian food.  The fact that I went here for lunch made it a bit better because you can usually expect less at lunch.  I'll go back when I'm working in the area again.

This place is pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. It's down in the Seaport District which isn't people's first stop in Boston. It seems to draw most of its crowd from the people that live around there and ICA go-ers.

First of all, I love their bar. The atmosphere is great and casual but still classy. My only gripe with it is that the whole restaurant is laid out in an odd, long shape so the bar being right at the front was odd.

The food was great, since the portion sizes are huge. Once the Seaport District becomes more populated though, I can see this going down. I got the Gnocci, which was unspeakably good. I'd definitely recommend it.

I've come here a few times in the last few months, and I can see myself coming back, but I would need a reason. Many other closer restaurants to Boston, but this place is solid overall.

I wandered in here with a friend after the Wine Expo at the World Trade Center, looking for something to wash down all that wine with.  It was pretty busy, but we managed to track down a couple of seats at the bar.  The bartender was friendly despite the wino crowd (you have to give him credit) and the prices seemed reasonable.  We ordered a couple of drinks and they arrived with a pretty generous pour. We ordered a few things to share--a small pizza with a bunch of italian meats and the butternut squash ravioli.  The pizza was pretty good (how can it not be when you're in a drunken haze), but I remember it was a little salty and greasy.  Not that I was really complaining.

However, let me tell you about the butternut squash ravioli.  To die for.  Sweet, savory, delicious......so good.  If you order nothing else, order that.  If I remember right, I think I might have been dipping my pizza crust in the sauce...

All in all--a decent spot to visit after a busy day drinking wine (okay, or attending some other conference in the seaport area).

This is for the take out place. 3.5 stars really - not 4.   Good food. Not amazing, but good. Large pizza slices, good sandwiches. Bread was very good.  No complaints at all. Helpful staff as well.

This is not the best restaurant I have been to but I'm giving it 5 stars because I have been 3 times, and each time it has been great. We sit at one of the hightops in bar area and it's a nice atmosphere. The apps, drinks, dinners are all great. Our servers have been friendly and quick. I highly recommend the haddock meal, the pizzas, and any of the homemade pasta dishes. I normally never, ever order ziti and meatballs when I go out to eat but I decided to do that at Salvatores and I loved it. Great sauce, perfectly cooked pasta and 2 large meatballs for a very reasonable price.

I can't believe how this part of the city has morphed into an upscale promenade complete with shops and restaurants in so short a time.  I met a buddy in here for beers and he got here before me, as in, like ten seconds before me, I was coming through the door when he grabbed two seats at the bar and he had to literally beat off a stampede of people who were all demanding my seat at the same time.  Fortunately I was there - I hate people who say they are holding a seat, especially when it's clear that person isn't showing up anytime soon, but this was insane.  There were two dudes near us who were waiting forever for a table and finally gave up and left.  Who knew this place was so hot?  Anywho, we had a blast in here and will be back.

Went to Salvatores at 5:30 on a Wednesday evening. The Bar seemed busy but the dining room was completely empty and by empty i men we were the only two in there.

The layout of the restaurant is not desirable, It is a long narrow space with Bar right at the entrance and the dining beyond, but it was very clean and tidy. (If the restaurant had more people in it i may have experienced the space differently.

The Food was to DIE for. Some of the best italian i have ever had. WE ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and a Chicken Ceaser Salad. The Marina was AMAZING! and the grilled chicken on the salad came out hot hot and nicely seasoned. The bread was fresh but the oliveoil balsamic dip was a bit uneventful.

The server we had seemed like he was on another planet. He rarely came over to check on us, and he was just a space cadet.

Overall we had a good experience and all the cons were worth the quality and flavor we experienced in the food.

Note: Parking can sometimes be difficult.

In my heart I want to give Salvatore's 4 stars, but I can't. My fiance and I went here for dinner this past week while I was at a conference at the Westin.

The atmosphere was nice, and the wait-staff was great! Prices were what you would expect out of a decent italian place next to a conference center.

The food went both ways though. My Scampi just wasn't that great, while lucia's scallops and pasta were to - die - for. We ended up wrapping mine up, and sharing her scallops for dinner (plenty of food for that too -- so props for the generous portions).

For desert we had Tiramisu. It was good, but I like mine a little creamier. You could really tell that it was cake at the bottom.

Definitely go here, just get the scallops. Also, I can't wait to try the pizza!

The food and drinks are  well worth the price which is next to nothing.  Don't go in summer they seem to be cheap with the AC and your ice water and margarita's are warm within 30 mins.   The Lobster pizza is great but ATTENTION ALL MEN:  the bartender is a pig and will get your girls number while you are in the bathroom.  No class staff for the most part but the food is good.

I've had a few meals at the Salvatore's bar now, and It's good, not great.

Here's the deal. It's cheap. Well not cheap, but cheaper than a lot of places on the waterfront/seaport. They are able to charge these prices because they don't use the best ingredients, they just use stuff that's good enough. For example, the Sicilian sandwich. It's something we've all seen: prosciutto, tomato, mozzarella, basil and olive oil. They charge $7 for it. There's no way they can be using great prosciutto ($15+ per lb) and mozzarella ($3+ per ball) on this sandwich, and still charge $7. They'd be losing money on it.

For example, Dino's in the North End doesn't even serve sandwiches with prosciutto. Do you know why? Because they only use the best ingredients, and for them to use good quality prosciutto they'd have to charge over $15 for the sandwich - that's something that they didn't want to do. Instead, they use less expensive meats like capocola and mortadella.

I guess my point is, Salvatore's is good food at a reasonable price. If you're expecting melt in your mouth mozzarella, go somewhere else. But if you'd prefer not to spend $15 on a sandwich at a place like Woodward, Sal's is a great option.

Yummy food, but staff seemed overwhelmed.

My husband and I set out (blindly) to grab a bite prior to the Florence and the Machine concert at the Pavilion. As soon as we walked by Salvatores I smelled garlic. That delicious smell made me stop dead in my tracks and say to my hubby "we need to eat here." Upon walking in I could tell that the hostesses were frazzled. They had that "oh no we have to seat MORE people!" look in their eyes. The main dining room was pretty busy, but the new addition dining room, which was right next to the hostess station, was only half full. Once the hostess figured that out, we were seated. Our waitress came to our table promptly and we ordered drinks. She brought back some yummy crusty bread and some olive oil mixed with some soy sauce. Surprising, and fabulous, combination. For dinner hubby got steak tips and I got a ceasar salad and a individual Margarita pizza. Hubby said steak tips were super yummy, and mine was scrumptious as well. I will definitely be back.

Hey...  Whaddya lookin' at, huh...  I'll breaka 'ya face...

It's that kind of Italian food, but with a big contemporary makeover - from the food to the decor.  It's like nouveau riche Italian food.  I like this place.  A lot.

Because it doesn't stray too far from its blue collar roots, its got all of the standards.  And, more - the nouveau part.  Everything is always fresh.  I've dined on the Signature Pizzas [Sausage & Ricotta; Margherita; Meat Lover - I lova' 'da meat; Spinach, Tomato, and Feta] and they were all awesome, fresh, and sized in just the right portion.  They're all thin crust deliciousness, not over-sauced, and with the right, judicious mix of toppings.  Don't come here for fatboy pizza.  You'll leave hungry, you fatty.  Oh, wait.  I forgot - it has a fat boy pizza - a 19", 3lb pizza for you.  Its entrees are special, too [Gnocchi Mammarosa - light & fluffy; Veal Genovese - cooked just right - tender; Amatriciana - lovely sauce that complements the pasta, not drowns it].  And, for you lightweights - the Salvatore's Signature salad is as good as lettuce, cheese, and dressing can be.

For those on go: the takeout is just as good, and has always been timely for me - never a delay, and always waiting for me hot and fresh.

For those with rugrats: in warmer weather it's great for the kiddies because you can sit outside with all the accompanying urban distractions.  We bring our little knucklehead here all the time when its warm.  The staff loves kids and always come over to entertain him when they have a free moment.  I never feel guilty bringing my boy here.  You shouldn't either.  Remember, it's nice, but not stuck up nice.

Disclaimer: this is in regards to take-out only.

Yesterday I called Salvatore's while heading home from work and ordered a large pizza with peppers onions mushrooms. Arrived 20 minutes later at the Waterfront to a clean & organized area, greeted by a polite and helpful employee, and left with my HUGE piping hot pizza for $19.

The ingredients clenched this review as a four star. Its nice that its attached to the restaurant portion (kitchen) because you know your pizza is fresh and made to order. Plentiful amount of these veggies topped every slice, and the sauce was delish. I'm a crust person, and this did not disappoint: it was thick and chewy  (the way I like it), although I wish parts weren't so dry.

I think if I had a menu it would have been cheaper (because each topping), although I think thin crust pizzas are the specials. There were also specialty slices available and a small dessert selection. Next time I'm in the mood for cheese pizza I'm planning on going to Salvatore's for their 3lb $12 pie.

    Boxing day/Blizzard!

Went here early evening because most places were closed. Very hospitable.

Had the shrimp crostini for starters - absolutely lovely!!! I cannot recommend it enough. Lots of shrimps, that were fresh and juicey. Sauce was creamy and full of flavour - devine!

Main courses - Shrimp pizza. Actual pizza base was freshly prepared and tasty. Topping wasn't too bad, but there was a very very overpowering taste of something sweet and it didn't sit well with the other toppings.

Service - In all fairness, was ok and because of the blizzard, the guy did try to do his best and was rushed off his feet. Was friendly, although slightly flustered.

All in all, not a bad place - but hard to tell because of the blizzard and influx of customers.
