My fiancée and I have been Salvatore's patrons for several years. I'll make no bones about it - Sal's is one of my favorite pizza joints in Halifax. For a vegetarian, especially, the options are wonderful - I often order the Rodger, Sicilian, Miguel and the Stephano. Each unique in flavor and experience.

But the original with cheese (Often extra cheese, in my case) is the star, because it's just a simple pie done right - a true rarity in Halifax take-out. The sauce, the dough, the balance of sauce and cheese, the spices... so thoroughly gratifying. Sal's is what other take-out joints should aspire to. Yes, delivery can take a while. Yes, it will probably be cold when it arrives. But here's why I still give them 5 stars; A cold Sal's pizza that takes 90 minutes to arrive is still better than so many other pies you can get in this town.

(That said, dine in if you can. A fresh-from-the-oven Sal's pie is the best way to enjoy)

I feel like a Pointer Sister right now, breaking out into a rousing rendition of "I'm So Excited"... I just can't hide it!  I have had Salvatore's on my lists of things to do for some time and just always get tempted to some more exotic cuisine, often with not the most joyous results.  Tonight I was just about to do the same things and luckily two of the places I wanted to go were closed so I ended up at Salvatore's.

A big thank you to the yelpers who sung the praises of the meatball hero.  You can be the Pips to my Gladys Knight anytime!  I would have just gone for the pizza, as I generally find heroes disappointing, unless they are hot firemen!  But this was easily the best thing I have eaten in some time.

I decided to splurge and went with a small "the Rodger" and a small Sal's meatball hero.  Figured I could have the hero and a slice and enjoy the leftovers as a late night snack or for a healthy breakfast.

Seems to be some concern about the service at Salvatore's, I found it to be perfectly good.  The fella who took my order was very nice, and attractive in a Shaggy from Scooby-Doo sort of way.  The wait was reasonable given how busy it was, so no complaints about the service.

Now for that hero!  It was divine decadence.  The bun was crusty on the outside, soft in the middle.  While a thick bun, I did not find it out of proportion to the ingredients.  It was brushed with garlic butter which makes everything better.  I am not a bread eater and will often toss the bread or buns of sandwiches or subs away, but this was lovely!  Now for the filling, words can not describe how much I loved it.  The olives to me made it.  I love kalamata olives, and I am not sure if they ran our of black olives, as that is what the menu said was in it, or if they changed it, but I hope it is a permanent move, as they were brilliantly paired with the slices of meatball, cheese and sauce.  It just balanced so well, all the ingredients were wonderful and together were out of this world.

I could rave all day about the hero, it was so good!  The pizza was also very good, although I am wishing I had just got a large hero instead, or maybe two.  The crust is very nice, lovely garlic flavor.  Their tomato sauce is very nice and having opted for the Rodger, it was loaded with sauteed mushrooms.  Being a mushroom lover that was a good thing.

I do agree with people that the crust does get a little soggy when it sits.  By the time I drove home, ravaged my hero and then got around to trying the pizza, the crust was a little soggy.  But I do not hold that against them, I am sure if I had of ate it right away it would of been perfect, and unlike most pizzas where I end up eating the toppings and tossing the crust, even a little soggy I loved the crust and look forward to enjoying the rest of it.

While I hate it when people order the same thing over and over again at a restaurant instead of at least trying some of the other items, I find it hard to imagine ordering anything other then that meatball hero when I return!  Try it, I can't imagine you being disappointed!

So totally definitely hit up Salvatore's with my HUNNY. Ha, makes me
laugh saying that. We snuck in a little post din v-day treat. This was
unfortunately my first time at Salvatore's. (Slapping my own wrists).

Notoriously one of the best slices in HRM, Salvatore's has the first
runner up spot for The Best Pizza Slice in The Coast. Did it live up
    to it's expectation for me?

I must say having it neatly tucked away in the hydrostone area is a
sneaky touch. It is a very little and quaint location. We took it out
but I liked the staff within 3 seconds. Super chill, super friendly,
and having a time in the kitchen. The way I like it. It was
recommended for popping our Salvatore cherry that we try the original
first. Even though I desparately want to try the Bianco in Stephano.
    Gahhhhhhh yes soon.

The pizza itself was certainly different and not what I expected. It
was rustic and intruging. Definitely had one of the best crusts I've
had in town with a smoky taste and a perfect crunch. The cheese was
done differently and it appeared to be under the sauce? It certainly
stumped me but didn't dissappoint me. It wasn't you're greasy slice of
    Sicilian.

I feel like I need a bit more time to digest on it and I will
definitely be back and I assume the other slices will float my boat
    even further.

I know everyone got there 4 and 5 on here, so I trust when I return, we might need an update!

I saw this place on Food Network's You Gotta Eat Here. This is really some of the best pizza I've had outside of Italy!

I had the meat pizza (tutto carne I believe it was called) and there was a perfect balance of crust and toppings. The blood orange Italian soda is delicious and worth a try. The staff was super friendly and the place was clean. I highly recommend it! Next time I am in Halifax, I will be devouring another pizza!

My first trip here!!! Finally!!! Stopped by at 4:00 on a Monday for an early dinner.  I was  surprised at the inside of this place, while I expected it to be small, it is really small, maybe has 4 tables, so you might plan for take out if you were going. We had reviewed the menu on line and recently saw a clip on the place on a Food Network show, so we went in knowing what we were getting. We placed our order for a small "original" cheese pizza, a clam pie and a small meatball sub, there were 3 of us and we planned on splitting everything.  Wait time was about 20-25 mins, they are making it while you wait, fresh and hot, during that time the placed filled up and the take out picked up too (it opens at 4:00 on Mondays, check for the store hours on line because they are different every day). Small pizza's were good size, 4 pieces, enough for 1, maybe 2 if you were not all that hungry, and the small meatball sub was a good size for 1.
Pizza, was excellent, really, really good, maybe some of the best I have had, especially the cheese one. I did hear the waitress tell the table next to us that she would recommend extra cheese on that one, and I agree, it would have just put it over the top. However the crust is excellent, and the sauce is really nice, not to thick, and cooked perfect.  I was not a hugh fan of the clam pie, although it should be pointed out that clams are my least favorite sea food, but my husband loved it, keep in mind that there is no sauce on this one.
The meatball sub was perhaps the biggest surprise for me, I though that it was FANTASTIC and I am not a meatball lover, or even a sub lover for that matter...however the bread was perfect combo of chewy and soft, and the perfect ratios of cheese and sauce!  The meatballs were spicy, but not too much, my 11 year old daughter enjoyed this the most!
Overall an excellent experience and a place that I will return to for a pizza fix in the near future. Next time I am trying a different pizza they have some really interesting combo's.
PS..I note on the menu that they will only put a max of 3 toppings on a pizza....keep that in mind!

I've only been here once. On the recommendation of a colleague, we went expressly to sample the meatball hero sub'. Now, we're pretty decent trenchermen, but the beast almost defeated us. Unless you're a competitive eater or REALLY starving, don't even think about a starter or side.
The restaurant is very small and can only accommodate about 20 covers at a time, so it's best to get there not much later than 1130 if you want a seat. The thin crust pizzas looked wonderful and the salads were huge.
Decor is utterly secondary to the food and when a place is that busy, don't expect anything in the way of attentive service. Utilitarian, yes, but with tucker this good, that's just fine by me.
Meatball sub' and a soda, $11 with tip.

This has become my bi-monthly lunch spot over the last few years.  Yes, the pizza is fantastic, but I go there for the hero meatball sub!

What I like to do is get there early for lunch, order in a sub & pop (which is ~11$) sit in the corner table (the spot is small, it sits maybe 18 people) and watch the hydrostone folk walk & out getting their orders.

Maybe a 10 min wait for your order to come to the table, then enjoy. Staff are always good and I do love the atmosphere on colder days.

I haven't tried the pizza yet, but the maritimer looks fantastic.

Hm. Well, I like thin crust pizza. And I like Italian pizza. I have never encountered a pizza in Italy that tasted like one from Salvatore's (and in fairness i have not eaten my way entirely across Italy. Yet), but - on a good day - I still really enjoy it.

On a good day. There have been a couple of phone calls over the past 8 months or so to complain about getting a cold, under-cooked, soggy pizza. Yes, they offered us a discount and then a free pizza the 2nd time, but I'm not looking for a discount or a free pizza, just consistency, Without it, I hesitate to order.

they do hold to the idea that pizza should have only 3 (ish) toppings and not be loaded, which followed the general rule of Italian cuisine to use fewer ingredients and focus on what is there. I love that. And I love their crust when it's done well.

Problem is, it's not always so.

Also, I prefer not to eat in as the place feels a bit crowded sometimes (especially in summer when it's warm) and to my knowledge they've never got a liquor license.

I give this place 5 in comparison to other pizza spots in Halifax. It is easily the best pizza I've had in the city. I only get takeout as the seating area is pretty small. My wife loves the Greek salad and if you are a fan of mushrooms "the Rodger" is for you.  It's unlikely you'll find pizza this good for a comparable price in Halifax. After reading some of the other reviews I will say I've gotten nothing but good service and pizzas have always been hot and definitely not soggy. Then again, I always pick up my pizza rather than have it delivered.

Salvatore's ruined take-out pizza for me. When I was working in the Hydrostone I became beyond spoiled when every meeting was catered with any one of these gourmet, thin crust beauties. With fresh and flavourful ingredients, a bold sauce, and a perfect base, this is no late-night slice situation.

I'd recommend one or two of my favourites but there hasn't been a single specialty combination that I wouldn't be excited to try again.

I'd echo most of the other comments in that while it's tough to get a table, you're always better off eating in that delivery. Not being the type to just whip off generic pizzas for the sake of getting them out fast, Salvatore's is definitely better at making pizzas than they are getting them to you. But still, even cold their specialty pies will likely be better than most that get served out of a cardboard box in your kitchen.

Stopped in here with my mom and sister for supper. We were a little disappointed to discover they had no outdoor seating because it was a beautiful night to eat outside (they may have a patio during the summer, not sure, this was Thanksgiving weekend). It was also disappointing to sit inside because it was like a SAUNA! It's not a very big space, so maybe that has something to do with it, but it was fairly uncomfortable, even though they had the door open. I am sure it is cooler in winter but hard to say....

Anyway, the pizza made up for the hot indoors! The thing that really struck me was the crust - you can tell it's handmade and it has just the right crunch on the outside, softness on the inside - not like Pizza Hut or other chain pizza crust. And they have really authentic Italian toppings too - not your usual pepperoni and canned tomato sauce. Mom had one with artichokes and sundried tomatoes, I had a Sicilian style with thin, garlic-bread-like crust and crushed tomatoes, and my sister had a spicy meat-lovers with a thinner crust and zesty toppings. They all tasted great and genuinely Italian.

Basically everything tasted really fresh and nicely cooked. Also, the small size pizzas are quite generous! I had to take half of mine home, which for $11 is a pretty good deal (esp considering the quality toppings). On top of the delicious pizza, our waiter was great - really friendly with a great sense of humour.

I doubt I will eat INSIDE here again, but I will DEFINITELY be calling for some yummy pizza to take home!!

    Picture it: Summer 2010
A friend and I were watching a Wanda Sykes special and ordered in pizza from what turned out to be Salvatore's. It was okay, but not the best pizza I have had in the city.
I eventually forgot about this episode, until Salvatore's was blowing up the charts on yelp, and I knew I had to make a trip to try the pizza IN the restaurant.

The restaurant is indeed small with only a few tables to be seen, but with a very large topographic map of Italy on the wall (larger than most of the tables.) The interior is designed like a mediterranean villa. For example, where you order looks like a quaint window in a medieval village home. This might have been my favourite part. It is true that Salvatore's is a little too quiet or empty at times if you are eating alone, but with a group this should not be a problem (as long as there is seating!)

The meal was started off by the legendary garlic cheese bread (3.50$) which was too burnt for my friends but just crispy enough for me. I was very excited when the pizza arrived. I had ordered "The Rodger" which comes with mushrooms, roasted garlic, cayenne pepper, and romano cheese with extra pepperoni (10.39$ for a small.)

However, for all these powerfully flavourful ingredients, none stood out. It's hard to describe, but the flavour was a little too smooth, even the cayenne didn't give it a kick. That is not to say that the pizza wasn't delicious, just that it wasn't the extraordinary pizza I had expected.
The crust and dough WAS crispy though, which is one of my biggest complaints of local pizza when finding too doughy crust.

This little gem is in a beautiful neighbourhood next to all the great little stores in the Hydrostone.

If you're unsure of the menu, get the original and you're guaranteed a can't-go-wrong thin crust pizza with an amazing crispy texture and fragrant aroma.

The best part of the original pizza is that it isn't overwhelmingly amazing but it is a really really really good pizza. Always.

I would like to suggest for you to venture into the other menu items as well. Really great ingredients, decent price and tiny dining area that I wouldn't mind for a first stop at a first date.

The ingredients are fresh, the menu is well thought out and it looks like they have an equation of a pizza store that really takes pride of it's own niche in Halifax.

Recommend for tourists and locals, they deliver as well.

Is the pizza here the best in the city? Quite possibly.
    I've never had a slice at Salvatore's that I didn't love.

But I'd also like to give a shout-out to the delicious "Greek salad." It's not traditional Greek salad, but it is, hands down, the best "Greek salad" in the city. It's loaded up with lettuce, small chunks of tomato, only a few Kalamata olives and onion that is practically diced. The feta portions are very generous and their dressing is what really sells it. Soooo good.

And desserts?  This is the restaurant that introduced me to cannoli. Delicious.

Salvatore is one of the finest gems in Halifax. Not only as far as pizza restaurants go, but for all food establishments in the area.

There isn't much to say. It's as good as it gets. I spent several week in Rome, Naples, Venice and western Sicily, and Salvatore is up there with the best pizza's I ate in Italy.

The only negs are small dining room. Not worth dropping rating for that though.

I'm a big pizza fan! Right from when I started making my own pizzas up until I reached the age where I could go order my own. Who knew that there was such a big pizza culture out there? And right in our own city of Halifax? We even have our own pizza corner?!

Far away from the corners of pizza is a quaint little spot in the middle of the Hydrostone called Salvatore's. Their pizza selection is made up of pretty basic toppings but I've learned even their basic pepperoni pizza is basically delicious! They also have a Specialty Pizza page on their menu for those looking for a more adventurously topped pizza.

My favourite pizza is the Pizza Tutto Carne, which is essentially their version of meat lovers, topped with pepperoni, salami and homemade meatballs. The crust is always just the right thickness and just the right level of cookedness, not too crispy but not flimsy either.

Also be sure to try their garlic bread. Perfectly warmed pieces of garlic bread that has the option of cheese topping or no. Either one works well, being the best garlic bread appetizer in the city.

Like Adam S's smart boyfriend, I will say that I find the pizza does taste better eaten in rather than delivered. The restaurant inside is very cute, despite being small, and is probably one of my favourite places to eat in Halifax based on its environment. Nice spot to go for a date, for sure. Although, sometimes leaving the house just isn't in the cards some evenings so delivered Salvatore's still beats the other delivered pizza options, but when it comes to visiting the Hydrostone, make the extra effort because it's worth it!

I feel so sorry for the poor unfortunate souls (mostly the youngins at Dal and SMU) that order their pizza from Domino's. Don't they know that Salvatore's will bring you a far better, far fresher pizza and only with a slightly longer wait?

Now, this comes with a caveat...

The *best* Salvatore's experience is eating in the restaurant itself. The pizza is hot and the cheese feels like it ought to bubble in your mouth. Add to that the best garlic cheese bread in town and you've got a meal worth traveling for.

But sometimes you just can't beat the convenience of delivery. And Salvatore's pizza delivered to your door is still better than 99% of the other pizza in the city. My boyfriend argues that he doesn't like the pizza nearly as much when it's delivered, but I think he's just crazy. It's still pretty damn awesome. It just needs to be warmed up in the oven a bit. Or Salvatore's could order delivery from Domino's, beat up the delivery guy, and steal his pizza warmer.

If you do opt to eat at the restaurant, you should know that the space is on the small side. The very small side. I sometimes don't like eating at the restaurant, because the place is so small and I find it awkward when it's just my table and the staff. But it is very cute and has a nice dim atmosphere.

My recommendation is the Original pizza, because I'm not all that creative with my pizza. And the garlic cheese bread. I loves it.

I am a big fan of Salvatore's. We frequently order from them for lunch when the weather's not so nice (free delivery for pizza!) and walk up to the Hydrostone when the weather's fair. My fave pizza is the Rodger. Delicious mushrooms and roasted garlic galore! The crust is thin and nice and crispy. So good! They also have yummy cheesecake, and awesome oven subs (I like the portabello - can you tell I love mushrooms?).

The restaurant is unfortunately not open on Mondays (boo!) and is a bit on the small side when things are busy, but in the nice summer sun you can always take your lunch to the little park. It is well worth the trip to the Hydrostone, and if you call ahead and order your pizza for a specific time to be delivered, they are very good about delivering on time. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very laid back.

When it comes to real euro style thin crust pizza there's no place that tops Salvatore's.  And they make a mean sandwich too... And awesome cannoli... so let's begin.

If you're into the thick, doughy, heavy, barbecued chicken pizza overflowing with donair sauce from an infamous Halifax street corner after consuming 2000 rum and cokes (which I will confess I sometimes do enjoy), then this place will not do it for you... but if you like a lighter pizza that makes you forget that you are in a grey, rainy, cold Canadian east coast city (as charming as it is) and takes you to sunny, bright rolling hills of Italian countryside; then this is it.

I'll start with commenting on the pizza.  This is the real deal, thin crispy crusted pizza that I will drive people crazy for raving about it.  For me pizza is all about simplicity and thin, almost see yourself through it, pizza crust.  The amazing thing is they get the crust super thin yet it isn't limp and falling apart (everyone hates limp pizza).  I'm sure it's from a strong dough with heavily developed gluten and the fantastic semolina/cornmeal that gives it extra texture.  The toppings are great, fresh, and the combinations well thought out.  The simple and delicious mushroom pizza with a subtle hit of cayenne is fantastic, and the 'classic' is a true reminder of pizza pies in rural Italian countrysides.

Of course most North Americans don't seem to enjoy simple pizza's unless they are overloaded with toppings, but trust me - I too once fell for the evil Siren's song of  the triple cheese, double pepperoni, sausage, bacon, hamburger, stuffed crust, double tomato sauce, with a side of Lipitor pizza, until I found simple thin crusted unloaded pizza.

So if you're looking for a pizza and you want something more than the Big Slice - Salvatore's is the place to go.  Forget the rest.... forget about the over priced pies at Resto A Mano's, forget about the over doughy KOD/Venus/Papa Mario's/Bramoso/Sicilian pies, and don't even talk to me about the cardboard-like, homemade pita pizza-esque Morris East's don't-deserve-to-be-called pizza's, pizza...

Anyways, I've ranted for long enough...

But just before I go, one last thing - don't forget about the Sandwiches... well I can only really speak of one sandwich b/c I can't bring myself to order any other sandwich at Salvatore's.  Cue the music:  the meatball hero.  Not sure what angel dropped it from above but what a sandwich! Awesome crusty bread, great meatballs, a little bit of tomato sauce, melted cheese, black olives.... what else can I say - if you don't like this sandwich, you don't have an ounce of pleasure seeking neurons in that small pea sized thing that passes as your brain...It is perhaps the best sandwich I've ever eaten... well that might be an overstatement but its pretty damn close.

Anyways, this has gone on long enough... and I didn't even mention the cannoli's...

    Later,

For Halifax, the pizza is pretty good.

Please only do take out - they have not yet mastered the art of customer service and you'll probably wait a long time if you don't get up and be a dick.

We split a large meatball hero, a small ceasar salad, and a small pizza.

Salad= was akin to one you'd get from a bucket at a cheap buffet

Meatball hero= the bread to filling ration was probably too in favor of the bread - but it was decent tasting enough

Pizza = Wanted to go simple. Asked for a classic pizza with just their sauce, cheese, and basil leaves. They said they only had dried basil flakes (wtf?). Later it was that "the basil is only for sandwiches" (wtf x 2?... I'll pay more if necessary!).

Anyways, it was pretty slow. It was OK. But if it's going to call itself "Trattoria" maybe they should be a little "Trattoria". Oh, except for the service....that was very Italian.

I seriously hate pizza.  it's something you ask yourself... "How hard is it to screw up pizza?" when you're with your friends... well, every places I've been to screws something up, wether it be when they diliver it... and yes i am opening the box correctly... or when i ask for cheese and mushrooms only, but it comes back with onions on it.  Whatever, I'm over it.

Just go here, and get the regular pizza, get what they suggest you have on that pizza and ENJOY IT.... standing up, because there is no where to sit!

How fantastic to live in the Hydrostone in Halifax's North End.  Not only is there tons of history, but great food as well.

One of my favorite haunts is Salvatore's with the best thin crust pizza in the city.   My husband and I shared two pizzas and I can't decide which one is more fantastic-
Clam Pie Marinato "thin crust brushed with garlic infused extra virgin olive oil, edged with cornmeal and layered with mozzarella, covered with baby clams marinated in extra-virgin olive oil, fresh parsley and garlic, freshly grated Parmesan and herbs". That's the description on the menu and it is as sublime as it sounds.

Roasted Garlic with Sauteed Mushrooms " Salvatore's traditional tomato sauce, roasted garlic, sauteed mushrooms, Romano cheese, freshly grated Parmesan, herbs and a hint of cayenne". Don't they sound wonderful? I can assure you, they tasted even better.

Meat lover or vegan, there's a fantastic pizza for you.

Some of the best pizza in the city, my favourite is their classic original pizza. My only complaint, and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that when ordering delivery, the pizza can arrive on the lukewarm side, because they don't use the insulated pizza warmers, I think they should invest in some.

This ain't no regular thang. Salvatore's is a pizza place that marches to its own drum! Luxurious, handcrafted pizza pies posing as delicious art forms is one way to describe it.

This longtime pizzeria is another reason to hit up the Hydrostone Market. With its rich blending of ingredients and steady craftsmanship, I have developed a strong respect for Salvatore's and the foods they provide. And while this spot does hold its own, delivery takes a while. Be warned... for best results, its better to place an order in the restaurant itself.

The menu boasts a spectrum of yummy, gourmet style delights. From the roasted garlic + sauteed mushroom dish to copious variations of pizza pies... its all fresh, careful and creative. YUM. The last pizza I tried was the artichoke and sun-dried tomato pizza. Needless to say, it was glorious. Garlic infused olive oil, zips of lemon, and a fine array of spices? Hello!! Its all about the subtle details.

If you haven't tried Salvatores- you must. Its mouthwatering gourmet oozing rich flavor and plentiful options. Make it your next pizza stop!

We decided to order an artisan pizza from Salvatore's, based on a vague memory of great food eaten at the restaurant.

Sadly, it was not to be.  It was a disaster from start to finish.

We called in our order at 5:30.  By 7:10, our pizza had still not been delivered, so I called to see if there was a problem.  I was told that my pizza had "just gone out the door" and sure enough, the pizza showed up within ten minutes.

Stone cold.  Any ambient warmth was probably from the heater in the car, because the pizza itself was about room temperature.

The toppings were not at all what we expected from the description on the website.  For one, we were told to expect meatballs and instead we got ground beef crumbled across the pizza.  The crust was limp and soggy, no doubt from the amount of time it had spent waiting for delivery.  The toppings were very picante, even though they were the standard pepperoni and salami.  There was also a smoky flavour to the crust that didn't exactly contribute anything to the overall impression.

I can't begin to say how disappointed I am.  I love unique pizzas and I was hoping that Salvatore's would become our new go-to restaurant.

I'm awarding two stars only because my boyfriend actually ate the pizza.

Salvatore's really makes one of The Best Pizza's in the city. I am not sure if we were overly hungry today when we went there for a late lunch, but this pizza hit the spot on every scale.

We ordered a large feta, kalamata olives, mushrooms and pepperoni. Next time we will omit the pepperoni we all liked it, we thought it did not need it. This tasted so good.

I do not know the secret to the sauce, but I love the sauce on this pizza.
All ingredients here are fresh, there was nothing from a can here.
The crust of over the top, I just can't say enough about a crisp light crust baked in a wood oven. We could have eaten another one, no problem!!

The shop itself fills up fast with customers as there is only about 6 tables. Great Pizza, atmosphere and staff. Take out orders were ringing off the hook. I could not believe that so many staff worked in such a small kitchen, but these guys and girls work in great synergy to make mouthwatering masterpieces.

Just a must go spot, you will love it!

Here's the thing: Salvatore's makes some of the best gournet pizza in Halifax.  The Pomodoro (sundried tomatoes, black olives, feta and garlic), the Tutto Carne (pepperoni, salami and meatballs) - deeelicious.

Unfortunately, I had, kind of a...well, a bad experience here. Had ordered a pie to go.  Took it home, bit in hungrily...spat out a small brass object. Turns out it was the top nut off a pepper mill.  When I phoned to let them know, the employee I spoke to said,"Oh, THAT's where that went."

Maybe it's just me, but I was unimpressed with the level of concern over cleanliness and safety in this response. Eventually I spoke with the manager and he heartily apologized and gave me a gift certificate to make up for the whole schlemozzle.  But honestly, I've never gone back, on principle, even though I miss it.

Which isn't to say that you shouldn't go.  It really is good pizza.

This pizza hot-spot deserves an "OMG" and a "holla," in order for me to adequately present how I feel. If you're not down with internet or youth lingo, the aforementioned terms basically amount to: YES! YAHOO!

This pizza is "off the hook." Okay, I'll stop with my vain attempts to be cool through language. This pizza is fantastic! Better? Good.

I love their dough; whether you're having the Sicilian or a traditional thin crust, Salvatore's kneads and bakes with love and know-how. Their toppings are gourmet, and selected with precision to give you well rounded, palate pleasing creations.

I often order for delivery, but be forewarned, that can take awhile - especially on a busy night (and you may end up with a luke-warm pie). If you can pick it up or dine in, it will definitely be fresher and more time effective. Their service hasn't been anything to get excited about for me, but I can overlook that when they're dishing out such tasty pizza pies.

Two thumbs up - and so close to five stars! Do it! Go! Get a pizza. Please note that this ain't no pizza corner slice! Their pizzas are pricey and tasty and different! Mmmm, I could go for one right about now...

Well I did not know where that aroma was coming from in the office but it did not take me long to find it a guy at work had a slice of pizza from Salvatore's. Well you know I was off and on my way.

Located in the Hydrostone this is a hot spot most days. Small but quaint restaurant that has the appearance of a little Italy restaurant is amazing at what they can produce from the small kitchen. As soon as I walked in I could smell the fresh garlic and fresh herbs YUM and the crust of those delicious pizzas coming out of the oven. Of course you can eat in or take out and both option were very busy.

During lunch they normally have a few pizza's on the go so depending on what time you arrive it can be different options. I had a slice of the Pizza Miguel a thin crust which I loved, brushed with garlic and extra virgin olive oil, Spanish onions, mushrooms cheese that is all I can say. The walk back to work did not taste this good. It was a bit more expensive then a "normal" pizza location but it was well worth it.

The main menu has Speciality Pizzas that range from $10 to $20 and then you can do combination pizzas for under $20. It is all good and what a crust I must say one of the better one that I have tasted.

Incredible menu, incredible pizza. We chose the Pomodoro (kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes and feta) and it was off the charts.

You've gotta love a pizza place that, even with a full menu of interesting looking (and pricier) options, encourages you to sample the original "plain" pie. They even instruct you NOT order more than three toppings on a pie. That shows confidence in their basic ingredients, and that confidence is well-founded.

    Delicious!

Pizza cravings in and around the Hydrostone need not get you down. You're fortunate to be close to Salvatore's wood fired oven. I love the guys who work here - always extremely friendly and fun. Food is great too. It doesn't take long to get a custom pizza on your table (20 minutes or so when you're not alone in the restaurant isn't bad in my books); plus they always have a few by-the-slice options on offer so it's a totally reasonable place to hit up for lunch. Or dinner. Or a mid-afternoon snack. Can you tell I'm a fan?
