When I first moved to Montreal, I was coming from a year in Germany where, despite being surrounded by countries home to haircare gods, haircuts for men range based on whatever number they've picked on the clipper. I wound up meeting Andrea by complete dumb luck at the salon she was working at a few years back. Emphasis on the word 'luck.'
Fast forward to now where she and her friend Damon have opened up their own 'Salon Adikt' which is just fantastic. From a man's point of view, Andrea brings a tremendous amount of technical skill to her hairstyling, while still treating it as art form (but in the least pretentious way possible). In my 25 years of life, my hair has never looked or felt better better.
The team there is really top notch - from start to finish - and they've captured a great energy in their space with the layout, design and ambiance. It's further complemented by their connection to Aveda, which just makes the entire experience relaxed, contemporary & premium. And did I mention that they are located right in the heart of downtown?
So if you're still hesitating, just take it from me - pick up the phone and call for an appointment. You simply cannot go wrong on this one. -
Review from Clare L.
I came to this salon from the review from Lesley that I saw on Yelp, and I got my hair cut by Andrea.
When I say Haircut, I got my money's worth because I went from super long hair to a short style. Andrea clearly knew what she was doing because after my cut, (almost 2 weeks ago) I am still getting compliments on it, including random people off the street.
Andrea is also the first Montreal hairdresser that I have actually liked (personality and skills). In the 7.5 years of being here, I have always gotten my hair cut, whenever I went back to Vancouver.
Andrea listened to what I want. Interestingly enough, both she and Damon asked me how long I have thought about cutting my hair short. This was to make sure that I have no regrets after. She offered suggestions as well as showed me hairstyles that she thought would suit me best. This increased my confidence in her abilities.
During my visit, Zoë gave me a scalp massage as well as a wash, she was new but did a great job. Damon also stayed for my haircut, and we talked about potential colours for my next visit. Another bonus was that Andrea actually took the time to show me how to style my hair, and gave me lots of tips and tricks.
I have never had an experience quite like this in a salon, as I am used to being rushed out, or having my hair cut how the stylist wanted. This is not the case at Salon Adikt.
If you want a truly amazing haircut, with someone that is professional and caring, and most importantly listens to you, this place is for you. I recommend them 100% and can't wait to go back and get my hair done again! -

Praaaaise the lord almighty! I have finally found my salon - the search is over. I came here for my first haircut in the winter. I had basically murdered my hair by dyeing it myself countless times over the previous months and it was a frizzy mess. I looked a bit like a female version of Relic from the Beachcombers (Google it). I decided that it was time to stop the madness so I booked an appointment with Kiri for a dye and cut.
When I walked in and took off my hat, she didn't run away screaming, but instead listened patiently as I explained that I wanted to get my hair as close to my natural colour as possible so I could stop the dyeing madness. As far as the cut went, I didn't give her a whole lot of direction - I just told her that I was trying to grow it longer and asked her to make it look better.
The experience was a lot like the makeover section on What Not to Wear...I walked in there looking like one of the People Under the Stairs and walked out looking fabulous. You always know that you've had a good haircut when you feel like walking around town for a bit afterwards just to share your fabulousness with the world.
Fast forward a few months...the colour held up amazingly well, and the cut grew out really nicely. I was just there for my second cut the other day and it was equally fabulous. I'll definitely be back - I plan to get Kiri to dye my hair a slightly more creative colour after it recovers from the trauma I put it through. -

I got glorious, subtle highlights in a rich shade of chestnut brown. Nothing cheesy, like the white streaks that I see in people's hair in Westmount and on Laurier. Thanks Damon! You rock! Kiri gave me a fantastic brushing, too. Her low prices will keep me coming back, as will her charming Aussie accent. The girl in the chair beside me was pleased with the color she got from young hottie Sebastyan. Surrounded by yummy Aveda products, I could spend all day up here! It's not pretentious, either, so you can chill.

Andrea Harrison has been doing my hair with amazing results for a few years now, so I was excited when I heard that she and her colleague Damon were opening their own salon! The new salon is in a prime downtown location on Saint-Catherine, with a perfect view for people watching. Everyone there is super friendly and professional. They use all Aveda products, and I think that has had a big hand in keeping my hair so healthy over the last years. Andrea is an amazing stylist, not to mention a lot of fun, and I've always loved my haircuts. She's also an expert colourist, and knows just what colour to use to suit my look. A great place to pamper yourself for a couple of hours, and you can relax with a little glass of wine while your colour sets!
