Saint John Ale House
Fish & Chips and Scallops and Chips were very good.
Service was a bit slow/distracted but I think he was just too busy.
Good beer selection (should be good considering it's an ale house).
5 out of 5 stars -

This was my favorite restaurant while traveling to Saint John. I loved the crab dip and wings appetizers!
My love for the Ale House was a bit spoiled on one evening while chatting with a co-worker after dinner a mouse ran across the floor! We promptly gathered our things and told the waiter at the hostess stand that we had just had a 'mouse siting'. His reply was 'Really? Are you OK?'. That was it. He didn't seem surprised at all. Maybe this is normal there.
Although I was a bit disappointed I did go back because there weren't alot of options if I wanted to stay in the Brunswick Square/Marketplace indoor area.
My fav waiter was Justin. He was a hoot! -

This is the best restaurant we went to in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The food was fresh and well prepared. And, they have a huge beer selection. I highly recommend this place.

Service is great, beer is very good, food is ok, prices are bad (too high).
However, perhaps this should be a good rating considering that, in Saint John, you don't seem to have many other options. -

This is an awesome pub. Located right on the Bay of Fundy. The staff is great, food is good and the Moose Head Pale Ale is ice cold. Across the street from the Hilton, perfect locaction. Can't wait to go back eh!!

You must try a flight of beer here. The beer with the blueberries was exceptional.
The wait time for the drinks and the food is the only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me. -

Went here on a Staurday night since it was in the Market Square and just a walk from the Hilton hotel. Good service, but a little pushy to order drinks, althought he never told us there were any drink specials that I later saw they have after 10pm every night. We had the shrimp appetizer and onion rings. Both were good. The service was ok, he was a bit quick about taking plates and my friend wasn't done yet, it wasn't closing so i didn't see why there was a need to rush. Not sure if I would return for the shrimp, it was a bit mushy and tasted like it had just been defrosted. The aoili sauce was good and spicy though. The onion rings were seasoned nicely.

Was worried it may be slow but it wasn't. Beautiful outdoor seating steps from our ship. Food was pricey but locally sourced, beautifully presented and darn delicious!

While I overall enjoyed this restaurant, it did have its flaws. The food was delicious; we ordered the mussels, lobster roll, red snapper, and bread pudding for dessert. I wish the mussels came with bread, as the steaming liquid was delicious, but then again, we didn't ask. The sweet potato fries were a bit over-salted, but the fish chowder I got as a side with my roll was one of the best chowders I've ever had. As the night went on, we got less and less service, and we often felt ignored by our waiter. The prices were also a little steep for a pub, but we did order mostly seafood and it was good quality.

I really enjoyed my time here. My dad and I shared a fish and chips and a Montreal brisket sandwich, but what's really awesome are the kettle fries. If you're in Saint John, you should check it out.
