I've been one of Dr. Julie Moore's patient's/client's since 2005... except for I took a 4 year naturopathic break. But now I'm back and ready to brave the tinctures, take the remedies, and dang it, be preventative when it comes to my own health. Here here and salute!

Here's the deal - I don't like drugs. And being rushed through a doctor's appointment that achieves nothing and finishes with a prescription for drugs just hasn't been my thing for as long as I can remember. But this I can get behind. It's costly, but lots of benefits plans cover naturopathic medicine. After your first appointment, which they'll book for the full 45 minutes, really narrow in on what's troubling you, and book 15 or 30 minute ones. This will save you a bit of cash that you can spend on the real care, which happens at home.

They have acupuncture, bowen therapy and a whole host of other alternative medicine practices. The office is clean, bright, and calm. It feels like a spa. In fact, there is tea available in the waiting area from Silk Road (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...).

About Julie: she really cares, she listens, and doesn't try to sell you anything (although you'll likely leave with an armload of supplements and tinctures if you listen and plan on taking them). She doesn't care if you buy your supplements from her or from Choices across the street. She just cares that you get or stay healthy. If you've gone in for a specific concern, she'll load you up with literature too about whatever condition. You can email her questions anytime, and she'll respond. In general, she's what I wish I had in a doctor. Oh wait, she IS a doctor!

I stand by the professional and approachable nature of Dr. Lisa Polinsky. I hadn't been back in 3 years and was sad to hear she had moved to Victoria. Lucky for me she comes into the Vancouver office once a month for about 3 days.

In my mind Lisa is a true healer. She listens, asks questions relevant to the symptoms but also inquires about your life. And anyone who doesn't think the mind impacts your health is deluded. While it can be pricey, most extended medicare plans cover at least a portion of the consultation fee. If it doesn't, please push your provider to include it. I inquired about getting acupuncture covered and because enough people asked, they included in the next round. DEMAND COVERAGE PEOPLE!!!

Anyway, hopefully one day naturopathic meds will also be covered. Until then, if you have a chronic illness, i HIGHLY suggested you check out Sage Clinic. I have been through so many doctors and practitioners and they are really top notch.
