One of the most impressive places to take someone on a date in Toronto. The food quality is very good and the service is always very attentive. I find it strange that to find the review of this place to be mediocre since I've always had a wonderful experience here.

To date, I've had multiple dates, birthdays, and casual dinners here and on almost all occasions have been very satisfied. I would definitely recommend their soft shell crab, it has always been one of my favourites. The grilled hamachi is also very fine and tender.

However I have to agree, the prices are steep, which takes the rating down a notch. My main suggestion is to eat at this place like you would in a tapas restaurant. Instead of buying mains, order a bunch of appetizers with one or two makis thrown in, and your bill for two would not exceed around $70 after everything. Still not cheap, but remember that the view is very nice and it IS in a hotel, so it all works out.

A small tip: instead of ordering the full tempura set dinner, get it in the appetizer version. It's much cheaper and what you're missing out is mostly just the rice that comes with the dinner + one or two vegetable tempuras.

And just in case you're wondering, I've been to this restaurant about once-twice a year for TEN years running. It is always a great option for impressive first dates. That should show you the amount of faith I place in it.

Food was mediocre at best. & hella expensive at that.

The only thing that I did enjoy was the fresh sashimi. Other than that, the food  was sub-par. Quite disappointing, especially because of its supposed reputation and "view" from the restaurant. The view of which overlooks the highway and an AMC 30 across the street.

The rice in the sushi rolls was so hard and unflavourful and the steak teriyaki was pedestrian- even Teriyaki Experience in the food court creates a more appealing meal. The lobster salad sounded awesome, but was overcooked and deconstructed. Such a shame too, because the dressing was actually very flavourful, but hard to get a composed bite out of all the separate pieces. We tried a lot of the dishes. We didn't enjoy any of them.

Thank God, my friend had membership, and so we got our entire meal half-price. That being said, we were still disappointed.
