love this place! the food is fresh and arranged nicely. in fact, the sushi chef is an artist! the owners are korean and super friendly. they serve japanese as well as korean cuisine. the korean dishes are sometimes really spicy. not bad at all if you're into that! everything we've had here is awesome! :-) i would definitely recommend this place.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet.
The service and food was amazing. My expectations were exceeded and I would defiantly return.
If you want to try something different I highly recommend the bulgogi roll. -

I have been to Sabu 3 times in the past 2 weeks. Edmonton, we have a new place for sushi and Korean and it's going to put the others to shame it seems.
I ordered Bi Bim Bap the first time, and now I can't seem to bring myself to try anything else because it is really that good. My Fiance' had the dinner bento box and he was equally impressed.
The service was sweet and genuine (clearly the owners daughters?), and the place is run by the whole family with mom up front, and dad making the sushi. After our meals, the owner came to our table to ask how we enjoyed our meals and her good vibes set the rest of my day.
On the way out I used the loo and I have never seen a cleaner rest room in my life. Clearly these people care about their food, customers, and their business.
I'll be back Sabu, but let's hope that I can get past ordering the same item next time. I will try. -

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
OMG I think I have found my calling...pigging out on delicious sushi all day! Can you get paid for that? Hmm..
This wonderful little place is located where Buddha Bowl used to be, right off of 82nd Ave.
The inside is one big open room with a few tables off to the side and a bar where you can sit and watch the sushi chef at work while he creates those delicious little morsels I can never get enough of!
The service was superb. Quick and efficient. I was getting take out so I got to sit down inside for a bit and enjoy the decor and ambiance of this, I assume, family run restaurant. The owners and waitresses all made sure to say hello to me and ask me how I was doing, and they even gave me some free green tea to sip while I waited mmhmm!
Think you can't afford it? Wrong! For a mere $30 and some cents I got a full order of succulent salmon sashimi; crispy, perfectly cooked prawn tempura, and some quaint little maki rolls that disappeared way to fast off my plate. I was so sad when I was done I wanted to go back for more. But it's not just the food that will keep me coming back here for more, it's the wonderful customer service I received that made me feel warm and welcome.
Next time I go I will definitely be ordering one of the many delicious bento boxes I saw on the menu or one of the cones? Oh my so many choices! -

My husband and I ate there for the first time tonight. Well, we ordered takeout so I can't comment on the restaurant itself but my husband said they were very friendly when he picked up the food and I also got that impression when placing the order. I had the HHAE DUP BAP and my husband had the BULGOGI UDON. Mine was ok. A little strange (sushi on lettuce served on rice). I don't know if I would order it again but I would certainly try something else there. My husband's soup was really flavorful although he did mention that it was pretty salty. Overall a good experience and I would go back and try other items there.

Just checked this place out tonight, and I was really impressed! The service was very friendly, the decor was asian inspired but not in your face. I got the impression that this is a family run business and much of the clientele was either friends and family or they were regulars.
I am not sure what exact day they opened so I put the first of January. I had the Sushi Mori (8 sushi and 6 maki), an order of bulgogi and a bowl of miso soup. They were all really good.
I will definitely be returning! -

Sushi is unforgiving, for it shows every clumsy chop and permits no sloppy presentation. Sabu demonstrates remarkable finesse with preparation and presentation, plus their flavours and creativity left me wanting more for days. It was pretty dead when I was there; granted, it was long after the normal supper hour. We tried a few different rolls, and stand-outs included Rock N Roll (which featured eel) and Bulgogi Roll (which was generously stuffed with shredded bulgogi beef). The takoyaki (octopus dumplings) were as delicious as I remember them being on the west coast. The location is a bit off the beaten track (just west of 75 St on 82 Ave) but it's really worth a visit.

The food was good. Fresh but the soup we had was very salty. There were 5 of us and we shared a bottle of Soju together.
By the end of the meal we ended up spending $160. When I was told this I was shocked at how little we got for this large bill.
Anyway food is ok but I think it is too expensive for sushi & korean, sorry -

We will be back. Definitely.
The service was excellent from the moment we entered the door to the cheerful and polite good bye after a wonderful lunch. What goes well with great service? Wonderful food of course! And the food really was excellent.
We (3 of us) shared four dishes and that was more than adequate. Each dish was, in my opinion, generous. We sampled the salmon/tuna sashimi, dynamite, rainbow and bagel rolls. All were very good and perhaps the bagel roll was the most interesting. Smoked salmon, cream cheese and veggies in nice roll.
In a city with some very good sushi restaurant options, do yourself a favor and try Sabu Sushi Bar. Small, family run and eager to build a loyal following. I think they will.
