Review from Shane K.

Went here for dinner while visiting Halifax and I loved every minute of my meal. I had a delicious ceasar salad with their own homemade dressing. It had a nice creamy garlic taste to it. Not overpowering at all.
I then had the dry aged sirloin. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. If you've never had a dry aged steak before, you absolutely must try it. You can order any size steak you want, they will bring the meat out and cut and weigh it right at your table.
There's many different cuts of steak to choose from as well as plenty of seafood choices.
I would go back to this place in a second if I had more time. -

Not worth the price and quality is average
This place is unjustifiably expensive. I have had aged sirloin before in places that charged half of what Ryan Duffy's is charging and it had more flavor and more food on your plate.
Lets walk through the experience. Come with me on a journey ;) :)
We walked into Ryan Duffy's, definitely impressed with the decor. I was a bit surprised that this place was almost entirely empty where other restaurants in the city were packed with customer's. You see, Halifax has the second largest number of bars and restaurants per capita in North America. So competition is fierce to say the least.
So one star for the actual visual appeal of Ryan Duffy's. Its all downhill from there.
We looked at the menu and were a bit surprised to see that the cheapest entree was $27. The rest averaged $35-$45. And this is definitely one of those places where they want you to have an appetizer and entree or they will make you feel cheap.
Here was my problem. I am on a new eating plan. So all I wanted at 8pm was a salad. But after listening to a very persistent Waitress who made it well known that I'd feel out of place if I didn't order something else, I then placed an order of a meat tray.
They bring over complimentary pickled vegetables and garlic bread. The Garlic bread barely has any garlic flavor but the pickled vegetables were definitely quite pickled. I'm not a fan of pickled vegetables but others were and they loved them.
The salad was quite generous but everyone elses plates seemed to be missing food. Yes this is one of those restaurants that charges a lot and gives you a little. The steak eventually came and I had to try a friends. Everyone at the table was disappointed with the food. And we were a mixed group of lawyers, teachers, financial consultants, electricians etc...So we all came from a variety of backgrounds and tastes and unanimously agreed that the food was very poor. Especially for its price. The Steak didn't have enough taste and the potatoes weren't that much better either.
The Waitress was definitely a bit pushy and it was obvious she wanted to get as much money out of us as possible. She did come with a smile which was nice. But in a city with such high competition for customer's, I'm surprised Ryan Duffy's is still here. For rich people who want to spend good money on less than average steak, this is the place to go. But if you want to spend $20 on amazing steak and be more full than you ever have...there are other choices.
