I have only had the opportunity to grab a bite here twice, and both times was for breakfast, but it was a wonderful experience even if it was just for breakfast.
I had an egg sandwich on one of their very fresh garlic bagels. I had the bagel toasted and added cheese and bacon to the sandwich -- it was quickly made, cut, wrapped in wax paper and a layer of aluminum foil to keep it warm (although I did not have to go far to eat it), I stepped out of the door, sat at one of the tables just outside the bakery (they have like four tables set up), unwrapped it and enjoyed the wonderful aroma of the bacon and garlic from the bagel . . . and it tasted every bit as good as it smelled. BTW . . . The coffee was very nice and flavorful as well. The only bad thing (and this is just a personal preference), is that there could have been more garlic pieces on the bagel -- but again that's just a personal preference.
Its a good thing I don't work overly close to this location, otherwise I might not be able to stop myself from getting breakfast there regularly. Not only is it good food (and coffee), but also relatively cheap by NYC standards . . . the sandwich and coffee (large), ran $4.80 -- good value for under $5.Listed in: Top Restaurants

I work in Chelsea Market and have given this place a chance one too many times. Every time my order is completely wrong and not what I paid for. Yeah sure the food is fine, just as good as any average bagel place. The service is awful though - don't waste your money. I would rather go to a bagel cart on the side walk.

As longtime New Yorker I have to say that this food is delicious and the portions are just right. The service is friendly, and kind. I came here with my 78-year-old grandmother once and she loved the place so much. We now have to bring her something from Ruthys at least once a week to stay on her good side. : )
