Review from Robert K.
Ruins opened this summer and has been hyped quite a bit by blogto and such. Their brands include Patrick Ervell, Assembly New York, Pendleton x Opening Cermony, H by Hudson boots, and CB I Hate Perfume scents. They also carry some vintage stuff
A couple of times, I've tried to go and found the place closed for no obvious reason. But when it has been open, I've enjoyed shopping here. Some of the Ervell stuff is pretty pricey, but for the most part the price point is fairly reasonable. The stock is a bit limited, which can be frustrating, but at the same time you sense that these guys have put real effort into offering a coherent slection of clothing, rather than a mishmash/jumble of different trends.
I guess the emphasis is on soft, casual tailoring; muted/dark colours; a mix of slim-fitting and also more relaxed pieces. Doesn't sound that exciting, but there are quite a few very nicely executed pieces. The clothes at Ruins are, to me at least, much more interesting the tedious workwear of somewhere like Uncle Otis. Not for everyone, but worth a visit. Note that they are closed on Mondays, but open Sundays.
