Ruby Inn serves North American style Chinese food. As take-away goes, it's much better than a lot of places in Ottawa. All of the menu selections are tame and westernized, nothing like you would expect from Somerset Street, but tasty and good when you're in the mood for this sort of thing.
There are no tables at Ruby Inn, it's take-away only. -

Ruby is a Chinese food take-away place on Bank Street in that strip mall at Walkley. It is just next to the Shoppers Drug Mart. I have been to China and have eaten authentic Chinese food. Some of it is scary - scorpions on a stick, for instance. But, when I feel like Chinese that is the kind of Chinese food I grew up with and love, I call Ruby. It has zero seating, so don't actually go there and wait for a table. It serves all the usual "Chinese" food suspects - chicken balls, beef and broccoli, chow mein, fried rice, egg rolls... They even have fortune cookies! Yes it ain't that healthy. Yes, you will be hungry an hour later. But yes, it is delicious and a great deal once in a while!
