Review from Douglas R.
Toronto, ON
I dare anyone to walk into Rowe Farms at lunch time and not buy one of their Roast Beef sandwiches. The smell is simply too much.
I don't eat bread, but the aroma forced my hand.
The sandwich tasted even better than it smelled. -

This review is just for the bacon... I love their bacon!
I buy it in slabs and cut it thick myself at home. It's sooo good! Not too salty like most bacon, and the perfect balance of smoke and meatiness.
You can even sometimes find bacon ends cheap which is great for pasta, soups, etc.
I also usually get eggs from here though I believe Loblaws carries Rowe Farms eggs and by extension the Bloor St Market in the Manulife centre.
Haven't really tried much else, I used to go to the stand at the St Lawrence Market on Saturdays in the North Market but the Annex location is cleaner and is a bit more convenient. St Lawrence you need to get there early Saturday or things tend to sell out. Though there have been times when they haven't had bacon by the slab and I had to settle for pre-cut. -

Great neighborhood Annex spot to fill in my gaps between annoying streetcar trips to fill my backpack up at Healthy Butcher.
Super hint: cinnamon breakfast sausages are om nom nom.
Rowe keeps it simple; well lit interior with focused offerings of meat: Chicken, Pork, Lamb and Beef. Fresh, Frozen, 3 Marinades. Eggs, milk and a half dozen vegetables. A few staples and stocks as well but that's it. -

A new Rowe Farms has taken the place of Organics on Bloor. If it weren't for being in the neighbourhood I wouldn't even think to try them. Glad I did.
The bacon is delicious and naturally raised (but still contains nitrates/nitrites/whatever).
Fred's Bread is sold here but is more expensive than anywhere else I've seen it. They sell day-old Fred's Bread for 50% off but it looks like it sells out.
Service is friendly. It's new and definitely worth a look. Great addition to the neighbourhood. -

Not bad, but it is 50% more expensive then vince gasparros down the street and to be quite honest, when i pay alot of money for a good steak, i want to ask an actual butcher, not some hippy student (they do hire very nice hippy's though) who probably doesnt even eat meat, what the good stuff is and how to prepare it etc..
I do come here to get eggs cuz they iz just eggs, but unless im in a bind (like i was tonight) I would not come back here.
