Review from Allison H.

De. Vine.
This place oozes luxury and elegance without the snooty 'tude that accompanies a lot of "boutique" type hotels around Vancouver.
Even the most simple room was extravagant, well laid out and the bathroom... It felt like I had my own personal spa space. Heated floors, double vanity, HUGE soaker tub... Ahhhh...
The service at the lounge bar was impeccable. The staff is amazingly accommodating and helpful, the quality of the drinks were top-notch and the food... I can't even begin to describe the food. The quality of the "pub-fare" grade bacon-wrapped scallops was possibly the best I've ever had in Vancouver. (YES! Better than at the Cannery or Coast).
If you need a little escape to Heaven, I would recommend the Rosewood in a heartbeat. Worth every cent. -

The lobby as a first impression is - wow! Beautiful wood paneling, remarkable art works (seriously, cruise the lobby for the art), chandeliers throughout.
The Spanish Ballroom, with lovely moldings on walls and ceiling is just a dream. Our event was top-notch; servers outfitted in those "50's white sports coats - little nibblies that were fabulously inventive. A tiny pastry bento box (!), petite sliders on choux, beef medallions with fragrant spice; all so lovely. Noticed the black slate trays to keep hots tres chaud.
Later, up on the roof in the Reflections bar, surrounded by the sound of water; little canals to cross over, waterfalls on the east wall, a fire pit surrounded by stone stools. We hunkered down in a cabana with fluffy warm blankets, as it was early March in Vancouver, still very cool in the evening.
Cocktails are pricey at $12 and small. The chocolate with giant house made marshmallow was the hit of the evening; my Pink Lady was a tad pale and thin - this is a drink that requires a slow hand to bring it to perfection. I'll stick to the bar menu next time.
The bar is next to the salt water lap pool, which cried out to be swum in. Looking up into the dark night while sipping cocktails with fine friends makes for a might fine evening.
A truly respectful restoration here. Very much worth a return visit. -

Beautiful hotel. Service was impeccable. We felt welcomed and wonderfully pampered. We booked a deluxe king room and it was gorgeous. The bathroom had heated floors, a huge bathtub, and a rainfall shower. We didn't want to leave. We also mentioned that it was our anniversary, and we were treated with a complimentary bottle of red wine. We were extremely impressed.
Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night, but we are definitely making sure our next stay is longer! -

I've been waiting for this restoration to be completed so I could walk through......in one word ......."spectacular".
They did a great job restoring the woodwork and the art deco feel to this landmark. The art on the walls, the furniture and the lighting is just wonderful. Only was able to walk through the lobby, bar and some common areas and it looks great.
Can't wait to be able to stay here and check out the rooms and restaurant. -

Beautiful hotel. I haven't gone since the renovation was done, but am impressed with the ballrooms. The catered food was innovative (but then it was for the lunar new year Asian infused style) but did not surpass my expectations... The ginger infused soup was interesting with a hint of ginger but was really salty that I could not finish. The salmon was definitely overcooked (was too dry). The dessert which was NY cheesecake with raspberry compote made up part of the experience as it was more fluffy lightly put together (very well presented!). Overall I love the glamorous venues and settings, but would be hesitant to host a function here for the catering.

I ran the Hotel Georgia through the paces only one day after they opened and I'm glad to report that it's all systems go on Georgia Street.
- Checking in to a 1 bedroom suite
- requests for someone to come up to fix one of the TV's
- Swimming in the lap pool
- cocktails and snacks in the 1927 lounge
- hosting a group of friends in the living room of my suite
- Requesting several service items all night long to my room
- full breakfast room service order late in the morning
- late check-out request (without charge)
All these interactions with the Georgia staff were handled professionally and promptly without a hitch. I should also mention that the food in the bar, and at room service was all excellent. All after only being open a day.
Compare this to my disastrous stay at the Fairmont Pacific Rim when I checked in there after they had been open a week, and you can understand why I'm so impressed.
If you're planning on staying at the Georgia, you have my blessing -- so does the hotel. -

Oh, goodness, I am in LOVE! Could Hotel Georgia be anymore charming and cool....? Fantastic, friendly, intelligent service, stunning art and rooms that make you want to cancel your dinner reservations and order room service. I will return promptly.

If you are interested in poshness, this should fit you quite nicely. Entrance/lobby is finished in decor from circa 1920s, and the feel upon entering is 'wow, i've made it'. The staff are extremely well dressed (3 piece suits for the men, equivalent level of neatness for the ladies) and very helpful in answering questions/concerns.
The rooftop establishment where we spent the bulk of our party time was second to none in it's design. Half of the venue was covered (including the bar, comfy couches, dining tables), and half was outdoors and included a crossable stream, pathways and a waterfall! Drinks were on the pricey side but that was to be expected considing they have to pay for top end decor and waitstaff. Bartenders knew how to make a wicked martini as well!
Dress well for this one ladies and gents and I would suggest you don't go swinging from the chandeliers, even after you've had a few.
Simply top class! -

Let me start by saying I have fond memories of the old Georgia Hotel and vividly remember the Beatles hanging out over the then Georgia street windows, Gary Bannerman and Jack Webster doing radio shows "live" from the hotel studio and manager Bob McAuly riding a horse thru the lobby during one Grey Cup event. Now its a new day and Managing Director Steve Halliday has done an excellent job in bringing his hotel to life. You must have one cocktail in the lobby lounge, called 1927. Retro drinks from New York and Chicago, well priced mind you. And then there's reflections on the 4th floor. An outdoor patio/bar that will one day be the hot spot of Vancouver. The Surfman highly recommends these two spots for relaxation, at least once this year. You'll pay the price for premium brand cocktails, but hey, surfs up for us only once in a lifetime, so enjoy.

I haven't been here yet, but we're neighbours. I was hotly anticipating the opening weekend to at least go get cocktails at the lobby bar, 1927, but then my non-drinking male-companion decided to come dick up my plans, and since then I just haven't felt the moment was right. I will say, however, that every day when I walk home, there is a blond doorman with an enormous grin that says some variation of, "hello!" or "have a good day!" or "good evening!". I'm not even going inside, he simply says this as I pass by. Not even my actual neighbours in my own hotel-apartment say that to me. Someone give that doorman a raise. The rest are alright but when he's there, hell, I will have a good day. I love, you Georgia.

One of the all-around best hotels. We hardly noticed that they had only been open for 2 weeks. Our deluxe king room was huge. The bath had a stunning symmetrical design and felt like a spa. The bed was extremely comfortable, the sitting area was well designed, spacious and useful.
We couldn't get into the Hawksworth for dinner (book 3 weeks in adv) but breakfast was delicious. The hotel bar has creative takes on classic cocktails and will satisfy even the most fussy cocktail connoisseur. -

I love historic buildings keeping that history in the building. It appears that everything is orginal, except for the bathrooms luxurious bamboo/lemongrass hand lotions and soaps. Absolutely beautiful establishment. The food however, was not as great as I had expected. I do love their tea!!!
