Roosters is quite a popular spot for Carleton students and professors. It's always packed in the morning and at lunch. There's usually a lineup and you're lucky if you can find a table to sit at. If you do, your spot's pretty much secured for however long you want it, whether it be for studying, eating, socializing, or all of the above.
They have sandwiches, bagels, and pitas, with a ton of different fillings, including bacon and eggs for breakfast, tuna, club sandwiches, souvlaki, fresh and grilled veggies, cheese blends, smoked meat, and tofu. Their prices are moderate, and actually quite affordable for a restaurant on campus. I had their chicken club pita, which came with an unbelievable amount of veggies and was really fresh. You'll definitely be able to get a health meal, be full enough to last through class, and get a good amount of food for what you pay for.
They're also very popular for their coffee, as they offer a pretty good selection of brews, lattes, espressos and cappuccinos, hot chocolate, and teas. You can even buy some of their ground coffee or whole beans to take home with you. If you're not into coffee or tea, they also sell pops, juices, iced beverages, and smoothies. -

I was kind of jealous when I went to University of Ottawa, that Carleton had a cool cafe like this and we didnt. This is the kind of cafe that has regulars who hang out here and the staff know them by name. The coffee here was better than at the University of Ottawa cafes and the staff were always creating new kinds of specialty drinks for you to try. Sometimes you had to order something different depending on the staff, since they each had their own kind of signature drink.
The food here was pretty good and you were always welcome to hang out for hours while studying, reading or chatting. There were sometimes events here, drawing students from different faculties and years alike. The service and food quality was always consistently excellent.
