Romano's is a stellar option for Hamiltonians who are looking for a quality Italian meal without breaking the bank. Unfortunately, it's one of only a few options in Hamilton to whet your palate in a more modern Italian restaurant, but that's a whole other story!!!
Upon first glance at the exterior of Romano's you'll wonder exactly what you're getting yourself into. Admittedly, Romano's is situated in a visually unappealing plaza that lies next to a less then stellar road. But let's not judge a book by it's cover! Upon entering Romano's you'll find the restaurant is highlighted by a touch of modern decor with an exposed kitchen as it's centerpiece and visual focal point for patrons.
On my latest visit I had the spicy calamari to start, which I was uneasy about ordering but turned out to be great. I'm surprised more restaurants haven't tried adding a bit of flare to the popular fried dish. For my main, I jumped into one of my favourite dishes, risotto ai funghi. Cooked perfectly with a strong but not over powering taste of mushroom, my risotto dish made me glad I had waited until 2:30 to eat lunch!
My only reservation about my most recent meal was that I found the portions to be extremely large as a lunchtime option. If I had been there for business I would have been somewhat embarrassed by the fact that I couldn't possibly of ate my entire risotto dish....no matter how much I loved it!
So next time you're looking for an Italian dish in Hamilton that's reasonably priced, be sure to check out Romano's! Just don't jump to any judgements when you take a look at the exterior of their location!
