I visited Romano's Macaroni this past weekend for a friend's birthday celebration that we ethusiastically referred to as "Scooterfest" - we had a group of 10 people.  Overall it was ok - nothing to write home about (but ironically decent enough to write a yelp review about).  The staff was friendly, and they were able to cater to our group.  The portions sizes were a little uneven wish some main courses being larger than the other.  My friend who had the veal parm was impressed, my other friend who had the lasagna was slightly underwhelmed - it was lucky he was able to eat the pizzas my two girlfriends couldn't finish.

I ordered the shrimp portofino.  The shrimp were large and tasty, but the pasta was a little bland and oily.  If it wasn't for the fact that I want to update my yelp as much as possible, I probably would have forgotten what I ordered.

What I didn't forget was the paycheck.  $40 for a plate of shrimp pasta and a coke is hardly what I call worth it.  Especially since I didn't have a drink for a large portion of my meal.  Our server managed to get everyone else's alcoholic beverages served while I waited patiently for my drink (which finally came after apps were served).  All in all just an OK experience.  Chalk it up to inflated Niagara pricing and slightly inflated expectations.

I guess I should have checked Yelp for this location before coming here. Wow what a disaster. The kids pizza is $13, that should really say it all about how overpriced this location is. We were one of only 4 tables in the place yet our service was terrible. My wife finally got a refill on her $4 soda after waiting forever and finally flagging someone down and asking.

We've been to Macaroni Grills in the US and they're ok. It wouldn't have been our first choice but everything in Niagara is so touristy/chainy and it was familiar. Don't make the same mistake we did, absolutely go somewhere else.

Okay, but for the money I would go elsewhere next time.  As soon as the hostess saw that we were a family with four small children, we were taken in the very back and put in a booth.  When we asked if something by the window might be available, we were told, "Not for a group of 6".  As we sat down we realized that in this back area it was all families with children.  When we walked back through the main section of the restaurant as we were leaving, we saw plenty of groups of 6, but all adults... apparently they place all families in a back corner.

Our server was friendly and very nice.  The food was okay, but nothing special.  The bread and dipping oil they gave us when we sat down was my favorite part of the meal.  I had a "shrimp & chicken with pasta" dish... there were all of three shrimp in the whole dish.  Disappointing.  The kids meals were almost $13 each.  They did include a drink and scoop of icecream, but I still they it was WAY overpriced for a single serving pizza.

I wouldn't go here again, especially with kids.

We came here during an overnight trip to Niagara Falls on the way to Toronto.  We'd mainly researched about things to do rather than restaurants to go eat, so once we got to the hotel, we were hungry and wanted to try a place nearby.  My husband used to work for Macaroni Grill a few years back, and we'd seen it driving to the hotel, so we figured we know what we're getting.  Wrong!

First of all, the food is pricier than other Macaroni Grills.  I'd say for a dish that was around $15-18 US Dollars, would be $26-28 CAN Dollars.  I know US Dollars are worth more, but not THAT much more.  Ok, whatever... we order our food.

The service is not great.  Our hostess had placed us on the 2nd level a little away from the rest of the tables, which was fine because we got a little privacy and view, but that also caused our waitress to barely come by -- we'd have to try to flag her down from afar.

Also, while we were waiting, we noticed there were huge houseflies everywhere -- probably about 10 of them.  I think they left a door open because of the good weather, but I'm sorry, having flies or any other insects around is NOT appetizing to me.  Not totally their fault, but it definitely affected my experience.

Food was just average for Macaroni Grill.  My husband said he noticed the food was lower in quality... he worked at a "Mac Shack" (his nickname for the restaurant) in Dallas for a few years, so he probably knows better,

If you just absolutely have to eat here and have no other options, then take note that valet parking is free at the Hilton, since the restaurant is part of the hotel -- which, by the way, might explain the higher prices and lower food quality.

    Avoid this place.

The food was fine, but it is not the same as a Romano's Macaroni Grill in the states.

I should have known something was up when the place was empty in the middle of tourist season at lunch time.

The food was fine, but the prices are outrageous.
$17 for a very small pizza.
    Kids meals were $12.

If my kid was not so hungry we would have walked out.

Find a small family run pizza joint and skip this place.

I would have thought that when arriving at a restaurant around 8:30 pm to find about half the tables empty that we'd be treated to slightly faster service than at the peak.  Not the case with Macaroni.  In this case there seemed to be seating for well over 200 guests, but only about three servers, and one bus boy.  We waited 10 minuets for the busboy to clean one of the dozen empty tables.  Another 10 for a waiter to show up; three requests for water before it came.  Bread came about 30 seconds before the entrées. By the end of the meal the restaurant had gotten busier and the service started improving (I got my second glass of wine almost right away). But too little, too late.

Good service.  Great food (we had seafood linguine and shrimp portofino).  The food is pricier than other locations in US....but just remember you're in CANADA.

We were the only group (3 of us) in the restaurant for an early dinner (4:00PM) and the service was terrible. The food was okay, but a little pricy.
