Romana Pizza is a classic pizza place. The owners are the greeter, server and cook. With a loyal following of locals, this is one of the true community restaurants in the city. The pizza is great and even better the next morning for breakfast. Check it out.

The search continues, still trying to find a decent baked lasagna in Burnaby Heights. Just tried Romana's, won't be making that mistake again, absolutely tasteless. I've spend many years leading group tours to Italy and this is essentially what they get, decent quantities, no quality, absolutely no taste, seasoning, etc...even the garlic bread was awful.

I ordered a small Gourmet pizza which had tender pieces of chicken, spinach, garlic, olive and sun dried tomato. I'm glad I ordered a small - it was about 9-10! The crust was not oily and not salty like most pizza places, yet it still had this great taste to it (similar to the Pizza Hut taste but with no grease!). The cheese was generously piled on but was not salty nor did it make the pizza soggy. It was delicious.
My husband had the Chicken Souvlaki, his dish was a big one! Chicken breast marinated and grilled with rice pilaff, roast potatoes, greek salad and pita with tzatziki sauce. I did get to try the chicken and it was very flavourful and still moist. I also like the potatoes here, its less sour than most Greek restaurants I've been to.
We were both too stuffed to have dessert - but I hear their tiramisu is amazing. We will have to come back and try it next time we're in. -

This place has been around longer than I have been alive and there is a very good reason for this, it's fantastic. My guilty pleasure is gorging out one of their loaded pizzas then stumble home in a semi food-drunk intoxicated state thinking what have I done to myself? Did i really eat that entire pizza?
Romana's does not break any bold new ground with their food, but that's ok with me as they are consistent - consistently delicious! I can keep coming back here year after year and never get tired of the food.
Service is excellent from this family run restaurant, when you arrive the family really does make you feel at home, something that I can't really describe and is just best experienced for yourself. -

Came here for the first time with my husband. We live up at SFU and pass this place every day. It wasn't until we had purchased a voucher of a deal website that got us to try it for the first time. (reviews looked good, and we try to support local businesses).
It's refreshing to find a good restaurant that isn't a chain, and where the food actually has more flavour than "salty". We had the lamb souvlaki and greek ribs which were pretty good. The serving was very hearty with rice pilaf (best I've ever had), greek salad, potatoes, pita, and of course the meat. You can smell everyone's food as you are waiting and it will make your stomach growl. We had to wait a while, but that assured me that it wasn't fast food.
The lady who served us was very friendly and funny. You can tell this is a family run business, and they live up to their 38 year old fame. The only thing I can suggest is perhaps more ambiance (more light) and a little update to the cozy, dark decor. I would consider coming back, (or order takeout) if the prices were a little better. The bill came up to $50 inc. taxes and gratuity for two of us (no drinks). Not expensive, but if it was a little cheaper I would come here more often.. -

This place has been around for 38 years, but until today I've always just driven by it, unaware of its existence. Apparently it's been run by the same family the whole time, and it shows. The owner personally greeted me and directed me to my table.
The restaurant is advertised as "Italian and Greek", and this is definitely true.
Parking is on the street, and is free after 6pm. Yay!
The inside was a bit cramped, but you can't do too much about that. It was styled like an old Roman place.
Beer here is cheap. A pitcher of Dead Frog Lager was only $13.25.
We also had calamari. Fresh and light, almost fluffy. Very delicious.
My friend recommended the Super Pizza (pepperoni, mushroom, ham, onion, green pepper, onion). This was AWESOME. Not too salty, and also not greasy! The crust was crispy, and the cheese was gooey.
I also had a chance to try the Burnaby Heights (ham, pineapple, pepperoni, salami, mushroom, green pepper, olive, tomato) pizza. This one tasted like a Hawaiian pizza on steroids. Yay!
The pizzas come in 3 sizes: 9", 12", and 15" roughly.
Service was a bit slow, but to be honest I think it was just because the food was that fresh.
I will definitely be back. You don't come across real family-run places like this everyday. -

We had a great dinner at Romana Pizza. We came in expecting to get pizza and steak, but we ended up being wowed by the chicken cordon bleu. The Marko cheese bread appetizer is delicious, and the classic Greek desserts were done just right.
Where Romana Pizza really shines is the family that runs it. They were very friendly, and when we had trouble deciding between phyllo rolls and baklava for dessert (we ended up choosing phyllo rolls) they ended up bringing both to the table!
The atmosphere was excellent, and we will definitely be coming in again. -

After ordering my pizza from Romanas Pizza I noticed that they over charged me for a topping I ordered!! When I contacted the owner about the issue she tried to give me some story to try and justify the fact that she ripped me off!!!WTF? She would not give me a refund claiming that she had done nothing wrong? If your gonna order from this place make sure you know what your ordering and make sure you know how much shes charging you as she will over charge you!!!! Rip off!!! I should have ordered Stans Pizza!!!!!!

Such a great little hidden gem in North Burnaby. This restaurant is family owned and operated since the 1970's. Growing up in North Burnaby my family would either go to the restaurant or have pizza delivered from them. The food is quite delish. I no longer live in the area but any time I am craving lasagna and am too lazy to make it myself I tend to always go to Romana's. So yummy!

Poppy and crew have owned and operates this restaurant for 38 years in the same location. The pizza here is the best! I would highly recommend their Super pizza. Also, if you like calamari then you MUST try Romana's calamari. It's nice and tasty without all the grease that other restaurants and bars usually cook it with. For dessert I would highly recommend the Ek Mek. It's a Greek specialty and you'll love it!
