Review from Kyrsten J.

First up, Rollergirl Rollerskates is *not* closed - in fact, they are doing so well that they have a shop on Main Street now! (i've notified Yelp about this and hope they update the business entry soon!).
Roller skating gear, like any other sport, isn't cheap. Looking for some parts to upgrade my roller skates, I found that prices for US skate shops are generally cheaper by a few dollars but when you factor in shipping (even to a US address)...it evens out.
But that's not the reason you should shop here! AMAZING customer service. 7 months ago, I walked in as a newbie who had never even stood on skates before, and when I walked in to get some awesome new wheels, I got the same amazing service. What is even more awesome is that I was able to ask via email beforehand what type of wheels I should get based on my skating style, weight, skill level, skate boot style, etc. Knowing that Lisa and her employees test out *everything* they sell, I was quite confident in their choices. Lo and behold, the new wheels are excellent!
I'm really happy to support a locally- and derby-owned business. -

Rollergirl has it all; gear for the most advanced roller derby skater, gear for the novice, skates for the roller disco queen and specialty gear for agressive quad skaters.
What sets this business far apart from the bargain basement online retailers is Rollergirl's stance on customer service. They stand behind everything they sell. It doesn't hurt that everyone who works there is totally passionate about what they do too!
Rollergirl isn't closed - it's actually moved to a new location! -

Why can't all retail experiences be like this?
I have nothing but good to say about Rollergirl / http://Rollergirl.ca. Lisa and Chelsea go out of their way to create a relaxed, no pressure, customer based experience. Something you would expect with any retail experience but rarely seem to get. In addition to dealing with RollerGirl RollerSkates in-store, my experiences on-line have been been just as favorable; prompt reply to email inquiry and fast affordable shipping.
Not just the owner, but also a client... Lisa, "Rollergirl", arguably the star of the Terminal City Roller Girls http://terminalcityrol... is able to provide an unparalleled first hand experience of her products, being a derby girl herself. Taking the hits and scoring the grand slams on the same flat-track as your customers... its a good reason to keep the clientèle happy.
Outside the the retail aspect, http://Rollergirl.ca website is a great way to keep updated with most everything derby in western Canada / USA. From bout (derby match) information and tickets to information on getting involved in derby... The fastest growing womens sport in North America.
