Mother-in-law loves chocolates, has bought from Rogers in Victoria, BC, so I went to pick up a small box to take back for her.

Service was outstanding.  I can't stress this enough because the 3 star review was for the product, not the store or service.  Last night they were mildly busy, nothing the lone counter person couldn't handle.  She was very friendly, chatty, knew the products, knew how to recommend the products, and knew how to broaden the conversation beyond just chocolates: everyone was smiling.

The store is cozy, clean, well stocked, and otherwise inviting.

The chocolates - very average, like any mass produced chocolates you would see at other chocolate chain stores.  Certainly better than some you could buy in a grocery store or drug store, but if you've ever bought from an artisan chocolatier or (say) visited Belgium, you know the difference.

History

Established in 1885

Canada's First and Finest Chocolatier. The first Rogers' chocolates were made in 1885 by Charles "Candy" Rogers in the back of his grocery store in Victoria, B.C. He quickly became a popular man. In 1891, Rogers expanded his chocolate operation to the company's current heritage storefront on Government Street in Victoria and the rest, as they say, is history.
