One of my fav shops in Vancouver for sure. I really appreciate that their sales people are not pushy and are never snobby. Viktoria is always very helpful and always has great recommendations for me. Its nice to visit a store that engages you in conversation and always makes you feel welcome. Thanks for providing such great clothing and great service Roden Gray!

Impeccable clothing for impeccable men. Fine apparel for fine women. Meticulous merchandising for a meticulous client.
Roden Gray has long been *the* boutique for menswear in Vancouver, but now that they're in the new (ish) space, the shop has extensive women's wear as well. The wisp of black leather waft from the chunky heel of Rachel Comey clogs, the line of a perfectly crisp Acne blouse... despite the fact that they've gained approval from such high caliber brands, the staff are never pretentious and always helpful. A welcome surprise, indeed.
Reclaimed wood; plenty of concrete and tons of glass -- all in one of the oldest heritage buildings in Canada. So very Vancouver. -

A new location, another new experience.
Hardwood floors, simple layouts, spacious, just what a Roden Gray store should be.
They have recently moved to a much larger space, and it's much better laid out as well. The whole shopping experience flows. There's also a basement downstairs that carries all their jeans selection, and I must say, quite a good men's jeans variety.
Now if only all guys shopped here....1 Previous Review: Show all »

Finally!!! Roden Gray delivers the modern male shopper - a powerful combination of style and character.
I have been waiting for this kind of store to finally catch on. Vancouver is full of little quirky retailers strictly for the woman... not any more. I heard rumors of this place and felt I needed to check it out for myself.
first star: The decor. Things are dark. The fixturing is unique, large pieces of wood painted black held together with rope. The really interesting log plinths everywhere....luv it!
Second star: The clothing. The selection is good and within time I feel it will even season some more. For starters they have Wings & Horns, Ksubi Sunglasses, Comme des Garcons PLAY, and Crate.
Third Star: Feiyue shoes people... need I say more?
Fourth Star: Excellent customer service, the gent we were chatting with was informative and helpful.
Fifth Star: I have to talk about the luggage. In my opinion I would have went home with every piece they had. Filson is my new best friend!
Here's what they had to say about themselves:
Roden Gray carries avant-garde to mainstream styles for the modern man. Being influenced by trends in Europe, Japan and America (New York) Roden Gray hopes to outfit and inspire fashionable clients with a range of intelligent labels and designers such as Comme des Garcons, Filson, Nice Collective and Wings + Horns. Roden Gray maintains a careful mix of the known to up and coming brands, leaning toward casual separates. -

The mildly disgruntled murmurs from male shoppers as they meander Robson Street is quiet but audible. Overrun with mid-range to high-end boutiques that cater almost exclusively to women, the choices for menswear are few and far between. Aside from the denim at Bluenotes and the conservative cuts at retailers like Banana Republic and Mexx, Robson Street holds little appeal to those with more esoteric tastes and fashion-forward leanings.
Roden Gray carries a broad range of clothing; bringing quirky quality cuts from the far off nether regions of Europe, Asia and the States. They are one of the few (if possibly the only) places to carry Comme des Garcons in Vancouver and the smart designs of Obedient Sons (where is the Daughters line?) and the artfully deconstructed and urban style of Nice Collective.
Roden Gray deals exclusively in men's fashion--my credit cards are probably sighing in relief. -

Update: This place is history.
"Meh. I've experienced better."
I heard all the hype from the comments below (too good to be true?) and was so excited to see this place for myself. What a disappointment. Now it looks like there may be potential for a very specific consumer but it offered nothing for me. The items that I liked were either (a) size XXS; (b) XXL; or (c) $300. Dude, even at 50% off, the tee-shirt is $120. Great it's made in Vancouver but shouldn't that make it at least comparable in price?? (slightly higher labour costs but way lower transit costs). (by the way, just so you don't think I'm a cheapskate, I shop at Harry Rosen for work clothes - I don't mind the higher price because I get service and quality.)
Anyway, it's probably worth a look if you're either 120 pounds or 120 stone. But I'll be schlepping my 200lb, 6'1" frame to Staccato - another place I've heard so much about...stay tuned! -

Gastown's newest addition is Roden Gray, a under stated, hip store carrying avant-garde to mainstream styles for the modern man. Here, you'll be able to find some hard to find labels such as Comme des Garcons, Feiyue Footwear, Wings+Horns and one of my favorites, Nice Collective.
It's nice to see a broad range of products in the store that is identifiably unique. Owners Rob Lo (also from Dutil Denim) and David Fernandes offer the modern man complete head to toe looks with varies products such as: handbags, cologne, footwear, apparel and accessories.

Love this place. One of my favorites in Vancouver I discovered while visiting last year. Great labels like Wings+Horns, Band of outsiders, Nice collective etc. I see that they are stocking Generic Man shoe now, which are fantastic. The shop itself is worth a visit even if your not in the mood to plunk down some $. Very thoughtfully put together. Staff was friendly and helpful.

They stock a great selection of high quality casual men's wear. Brands like W+H, KZO, Band of Outsiders, and Comme PLAY make Roden Gray the premier Vancouver outpost. Make sure you stop by next time you're in Vancouver!
