We cannot even go to Canmore without a lunch visit to the Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co.
My cousin lives in Canmore, so its a perfect excuse to meet them for lunch.   We first heard about this place when my cousin had them cater her wedding!   It was one of the best wedding meals I have ever had.   The blackberry salad and flatbreads were just amazing.   Everyone just raved about the food.

Since then we've been inside many times for lunch.  I love the salad and pizza lunch special, as I can never decide between their healthy and unique salads or their delicious flatbreads.

I have never had any complaints with service.  My cousin often brings her now one year old with us, and the staff is great about it.   We also have been allowed to leash up our dog just on the balcony in cooler weather.

We recently tried the dessert pizza which I was skeptical about, but was pleasantly surprised.   We will continue stopping in for lunch every time we visit Canmore thanks to the fresh ingredients, and innovative flavours.

OH, and make sure to get the SANGRIA when its available.  MMM!

Great pizza, even if it isn't technically flatbread

I'm nost sure why it's called Rocky Mountain FLATBREAD company, since flatbread is unleavened and this pizze dough clearly has an ample amount of yeast in it... at any rate, they make delicious pies here. I just wish they would bring back the "Hoven" combination, that was our favorite but they've removed it from the menu.

Given all the hype of this place I wanted to love it.   It's right up my alley for what I look for while dining.

    1. Plenty of vegetarian options
    2. Eco and/or sustainable business
    3. Casual elegance
    4. slightly upscale tastes

I ordered a farmers pizza - it was good but not amazing.   Maybe there were too many vegetables and thus a little bland.  Some additional spicing or use of the goat cheese might have made this delicious.

My guy ordered ravioli  (he thought it was delicious) and I tried some and thought it was good but I've still had better.   I did enjoy the use of root vegetables which makes it very earthy.   I do think it was a bit over cooked and the sauce fell a bit flat.

I don't like the pita bread on the side thing - I find pita bread boring.   Now if they had used their own crust that might have been a different experience.

They include a 1% charge on your bill to pay for their bullfrog power program that they sneak in there but you could opt out of.   It's a neat idea but I don't like how it's added on there without really drawing attention to the fact it's optional.   Bullfrog is a company that receives a copy of the company's power bill and then puts green energy onto the grid in the same wattage as a carbon offsetting measure.   I would make this donation regardless but I hate how it's assumed - I imagine someone would feel like a real jerk to get their bill and ask for the donation to be removed.  I say it's an expense - include it in the menu price (trump it up if advertising if you want) and don't just sneak it in there on the bottom when you're not expecting to pay that extra fee.  Funny I take such offense to the added fee that's broken out but I'm all for the program and do it at home!

I waffled between 3 and 4 for this place but likely rounded down because of the hype and lack of impression on me.  I'll likely go back and give it a second try based on reputation over strictly my experience.  I probably won't have a choice anyway (it's a favorite amongst my bf, sister and some friends).   I definitely will be trying something else though.

Great food , great service, new owners . The Flat bread company has always done a great job with their organic pizzas originally designed by Chef Ralph who is presently the Executive Chef @ the Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff.
The menu has great stuff for the kids and even a play area. I had a special pasta dish of the day which had scallops and was fantastic . Reasonably priced for what you get.

Yum!  Creative, interesting pizza (either thin-crust flatbread or more traditional crust) with toppings like black bean sauce, apricot and apple (luckily, not those three on the same pizza!).

They also had salad, soups and a few other dishes for any non-pizza lovers.

And, dessert sounded amazing - including dessert pizza!  We didn't try any, though, as there was no room after all the wonderful food.

Service was excellent - personable, responsive & very helpful.

All in all, a wonderful experience!  But, be warned - this is not traditional pizza!  Not a ham & pineapple combination in sight :)

Unbelievable.  The quality and taste of our lunch was amazing.  We will be back, I recommend trying this restaurant. We liked the flatbreads so much we bought their frozen options to take home. The service was attentive, we look forward to our next visit.

We got into Canmore late and needed somewhere for a bite to eat. We found RMFC over at "that other travel site" and it had RAVE reviews. We were a little concerned that they might not be open, but their official site says they serve dinner "onward". So we took a gamble.

Lesson learned. Check yelp first. They close at 9pm. They have that listed on their door, why don't they list that on their site!?!?

Anyway, they let us do takeout. We ordered a regular Meaty flatbread and a regular blueberry dressing salad. Total with tip was $30. Ow. Yes, I know, this is Canmore. Still. Ow.

It wouldn't have been so painful if the flatbread was actually tasty. The problem was it was bland. It didn't taste *bad*, it was just bland. I guess they've never heard of seasoning. A little salt? A little pepper? Some garlic or something in the sauce? Nice crisp crust, but covered with completely bland toppings.

    Great food!

Fig and Goat Cheese Salad - Delicious and so good especially in the summer!

Chicken soup - not too bad - a bit bland for me.  Nice touch with the pesto on the top.

Rancher's Flatbread - Crispy flatbread.  Delicious.

We drove out to Canmore today and decided to check Yelp for assistance in finding a good place for lunch and did we ever hit the jackpot!

We saw the other reviews for Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company and thought that this might satisfy both our needs as far as selection and we were not disappointed.  First of all, we had the best server, named Adam.  Then, the Sous Chef came out and proudly delivered the soup to our table and he should have been proud because it was delicious.  We overheard Adam telling another table that he was soon going to be celebrating his third anniversary at that establishment and his experience definitely showed as he conversed with us regarding the various menu choices, as well as where the food comes from (organic beef and as much organic and local produce as they can find).

I had the Ranchers Choice Flatbread and my husband had the special daily flatbread which had chicken, apple, and other delicious ingredients that I can't remember.  We each had a bowl of their broccoli soup and it was chunky, thick and so tasty.  One can order the flatbread/salad combo, which I did, and have the salad on the side or soup on the side.  Instead of the usual "house side salad" that restaurants generally offer in these combo deals, they offer any of their salads.  I chose the Fresh Basil and Blackberry Salad, which consisted of fresh organic green leaves, brown mushrooms, mango and roasted red bell peppers tossed in a basil & blackberry dressing.  It was a great combination of flavors.  I could definitely have exactly the same thing as today on our return visit but I'm determined to try something different next time and there will definitely be a next time.

I have to make one more comment and that would be in reference to  their delicious coffee - wonderful!  It, too, is organic and the beans are roasted by a local Canmore merchant.  I would like to get a hold of some of that coffee, let me tell you.

Excellent dinner for four adults and four children under 4 years. Great atmosphere, a small play area and excellent good. The kids' Mac and cheese was so good we took it home to eat ourselves! Will return soon for sure.

Great ambiance with a fire on a cold day. I had the soup and more combo for lunch. Tons of food for one person, but it was so good I ate it all. I had a chicken apple pizza and the pesto on top was very tasty and the soup was a sweet potato corn chowder. I will definitely be back.
