As strange as it might sound, I don't go to Rocky Mountain Chocolate for the chocolate.

I go for the fudge.  Oh my goodness, the fudge, especially the maple fudge.  It is beyond anything you've ever tasted - creamy and consistently flavoured, sold in increments from personal-sized to "share with your friends".

Sure, there are lots of other delectable treats to tempt you:  candy-coated apples, truffles, hand-dipped chocolates ... but the fudge will keep you coming back for more.

Check out their loyalty program - free chocolate bars on your birthday!

Located in the Halifax Shopping Center, I have a rather hard time getting by this place without stopping in. OR at least drooling over the glass case. Franchise? Yessss. Is it local? Noooo. Does it still taste good? Yessssss.

From chocolates, to ice cream, to rocky pops, to waffle cone encrusted sexual goodness, I thoroughly enjoy this stuff as a shopping break.

Embarrassingly enough, I got a member card here when I was like 10. I lie, 15. So I get points per purchase. Totally justifies that 4th truffle right?

No seriously though, with a pretty quick and open space you can get in and out fairly smoothly. Smelllls sooooo gooooooooood.

If you are not a fan of malls, this could change your mind.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate is just amazing! The store is located in the Halifax Shopping Centre which is a mall and I understand some people aren't fans of that. I myself love malls and walking around. In my teenage years I was proud to call myself a "Mall-rat." But the Halifax Shopping Centre has some unique stores that make this a unique mall experience. And one of the best examples is Rocky Mountain Chocolate.

This is a candy and chocolate store like no other. And good news for people who have Diabetes. They have an entire, "no sugar added" selection so you won't be stuck watching your friends enjoy their guilty pleasures. You can join in to ;).

I feel compelled to talk about the Caramel Apples. Not because I like Apples. In fact, I hate them. I like the taste but hate the texture. However, if I mention Rocky Mountain Chocolate to anyone the first thing they say is, "the apples are so amazing!" So if you like Apples, check them out. They have the classic Caramel Apple but have a lot more than that. Try M&M chocolate chip Caramel Apple for example.

I am a fan of fudge and ice cream. One thing I learned from the last time I was at the store was they make their own specialty ice cream. So you cannot get it anywhere else but at a Rocky Mountain Chocolate store. And trust me when I say, it is really good ice cream. And of course their fudge and chocolate selection is fantastic. The fudge or chocolate aren't so rich that you have one piece and then can't eat anymore. I can definitely go through a few of them. lol. But they are worth it!

The staff are always pleasant and very hard working. I would say it is average service so there is some room for growth there. I would love to see smiles all the time and people who just love what they do. But its still good service.

If you have a sweet tooth, don't you dare go anywhere else but Rocky Mountain Chocolate if you are in the Halifax Shopping Centre. You are short changing your taste-buds if you go elsewhere.

Face it, it is impossible to walk past the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company and not push your nose up to the glass to se what they're creating. The problem is that it usually looks delicious and you're going to end up spending a little money.

The chocolate fudge at this place is a real favorite for me and my friends and the caramel apples can turn the most mature young adult in a candy store into the classic kid in a candy store. Hopped up on sugar, looking for a delicious fix, the RMCF is definitely the place to go.

Unfortunately, as I said, the goodies come at a price that might seem a little steep for the portion sizes. It's easy to justify for a rare treat, but those of poi with a real sweet tooth might want to double check the budget before you step foot in the store. Luckily they give out free samples from time to time!

I don't know, could there really be anything bad about a shop that's stuffed to the gills with chocolate-covered everything, and that smells like a giant hunk of cocoa-bean heaven?

No, I submit that there could not.

Walking in here is almost enough to satisfy the chocolate craving that developed as soon as you saw the giant display of chocolate-covered apples in the window. Because the air is so thick with chcolately goodness that by the time you leave with your purchase, you will almost feel as if you've eaten two pounds of chocolate through your pores.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but Rocky Mountain Chocolate is almost enough to change my mind.

Every time I walk by this store it is difficult to not stop in and have a poke around. There is a lot of really tasty looking candy in this place! Personally I love their chocolate fudge and their soft candy is a great gift for the grandmother in your life.

Also because I am a sap, I once purchased some of their chocolate roses to give to my girlfriend once. She enjoyed them...little does she know I ate one before I gave them to her! I just couldn't help myself, they looked (and were) so tasty.

If you have a sweet tooth, beware this place. You will go heavily into debt. But with treats this tasty, it might be worth it!

Well, a day of shopping has to be finished with a last stop at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Shop in the Halifax Shopping Center.

I say the last because, trust me , you can not go in there and not buy something, good luck trying to save it until you get home.

We were there the other day, we bought one of their Huge Peanut Butter Cups and an English Toffee Balm.  Wow, talk about decadent.  They were meant for at home, but never made it.  The chocolate was so creamy.  Your Taste buds will love you.

The smells from that store just drawn you in, it is like a magnet when you walk by.

Now I have had their Candy Apples, they are the best.  I little hard to get the first bite, but once you get it going.......this is not something I would recommend eating in the mall, can get a little messy. lol, but in a good way.

There is something here for everyone, and at Christmas it is a fantastic place to pick up gifts.

Oh, chocolate, you'll be the end of me. The thing about Rocky Mountain is that although they entice you inside with their wonderful smelling vats of caramel and their huge displays of caramel apples, most of their products are not top quality. There's a reason these shops are mostly located in malls, or in BC, at ferry terminals. It's mall-quality chocolate. This can be JUST FINE sometimes, especially if you happen to find yourself in a mall. These guys have figured out that Hey, maybe these mall shoppers are a little stressed out by all the other deal-craving humans around them, maybe they want a sugar fix even if it's not the healthiest choice right now. And lo, Rocky Mountain has flourished.

My favourite items in the store are definitely the caramel apples. Dang, caramel is good. I may have sounded like a bit of a chocolate elitist when I was poopooing their quality, but I will readily admit that I am a huge sucker for these apples. The problem is only one of self control.
