I'd say 4 stars is an extremely appropriate rating.

They sell CHOCOLATE for goodness sake! How could they go WRONG!?

10 pts for displaying all sorts of yummy candy apples... some classic flavors and some novelty designs (Angry Birds, and the cutest Beaver candy apple I've ever seen). The fudge is great here too!

No, it's not the BEST chocolate you'll ever have (this IS a chain... and we are not in Belgium). But it's Canadian, it's REALLY good, it's fresh, it's pretty, and there's a great variety.

I've seen a few of these stores, and this one is probably one of the nicest. And who doesn't salivate while watching the chocolate fountains behind the counter?!

    Yay!!!! I'm a fan!!!!!

Who can resist the gooey goddess of a caramel apple on a sunny Vancouver day? Not me...!

Sometimes it is indeed good to sin and RMCF has some excellent sweets... though I think the chocolate is not necessarily in that department. It is ok but after all I prefer their fudge and said caramel and candy apples that remind on the good old days at the fairground.

Prices are so-so but for the occasional sweet tooth (hello Mr Dentist!) it can be justified. ;-)

    Yum yum, enjoy!

This was the nicest most modern looking Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory that I have ever been to.  Their apples are behind glass windows and stacked up really tall.  5 stars for having a HELLO KITTY APPLE! SOoOooo cute!

At the risk of being sacrificed by little candy worker-elves, I'm going to be honest: i think the chocolate here is laclustre.

That's why it's a good thing that Rocky Mtn has GIANT caramel apples that dazzle. I won't lie, I've been known on occasion to serve these in place of birthday cakes (cut 6-ways by the staff, put it in a cute box, add a candle and 'Voila', the world's best birthday treat (cake tastes like pancakes, and pancakes are gross!).

The last time I had a 'caramel apple birthday' was on the grassy area in English Bay. Our gang was all dressed up in Hawaiian gear for my sisters themed birthday party. Guess what I was wearing? Three lei's and a bright purple ankle-length mumu covered in rainbows. So the party-goin' group gets hungry, and I offer to guard our stuff on the beach, so picture this: me, sitting in the middle of 8 brightly covered blankets on a busy beach, wearing a blinding mumu. I thought nothing of it until some joggers stopped to ask me if I'm ok. At first I was confused, but then looked at my closely guarded empire (bordering a sea of happy beach- people), and my crazy outfit, I realised that I may just look like a Riverview escapee.

What a great way to pick up the hotties!

I was tempted at that point to eat the 'birthday apple' by myself but decided otherwise. Good move. What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger, right? ; )

Next time you're in a mumu on the beach in English Bay, make sure to do the right thing, and save the treats for the kids :)

Walking down Robson street this afternoon I saw a group of people with delicious looking icecream cones (ie: not mcdonalds) and I had to have one. My gf offered to buy me one so we went to the beautiful Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Wow, a sugar fiends heaven.

At the back they have the icecream wall and I chose a vanilla cookie dough while my girl got the strawberry.

Delightfully delicious flavours. Definitely top-notch icecream.

There's not a lot of places like this in town... reminds me of my trips to the Alberta ones when I was younger :)

Gooey candy apples, tons of chocolates, and I love their caramel corn!  Cute seasonal packaging - love it!  Even better if you don't care and are just buying it for youself... snag them after a holiday for 50% off!  It has a nice selection of sugar-free choclates for those with diabetes too.

Another plus is great customer service - they've always been really friendly when I go in with samples, and there was a problem with a gift card I had that got wiped blank when I was last in, and head office quickly sent me a replacement.

Downsides - I think it's pricey for what you get.  Their chocolate is quite sweet and there's better quality out there, especially if you're used to a darker/bitter chocolate.

My favorite chocatier still is Bernard Callebaut... and another Calgary original to boot... but Rocky Mountain is a nice option for those with a sweeter tooth.

I must say for a place that is Rocky Mountain adjacent they have a real dearth of these usual fudge factories and chocolate hole. Having been to Jasper and Banff there's about 10 on every corner but in Vancouver you have really only Robson to head to for these 'rocky mountain' delights'.

But seriously, if you want some fudge or candy apples this place is pretty good. They do carry the hefty price tag you'd expect from places like this but the variety really means you can get something to suit your specific cravings.

I'm not a regular shopper here but I do like to peer in the windows when I'm waiting for someone on Granville. I'll never know what's so mesmerizing about fudge but it gets me every time.

It's like the amusement park for chocolate and candy-aholics.  You can never just walk past this place - the colors and (definitely) the smell will draw you in to satisfy your curiousity (and perhaps, your sweet tooth).

The BEST thing about this place is the sample sizes!!! While you may not be able to indulge in a huge chunk of fudge, its always nice to buy tiny pieces that are the most perfect amount!! In addition to candy and fudge and chocolate bars, the rocky mountain chocolate factory offers a delectable selection of ice creams... Mmmmmmm.....

Quest to Try Vancouver's 101 Best Eats

    Mission: Caramel Apple
    Location: Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
    Cuisine: Desserts / Chocolates
Price: Varies, plain starting at $3.49

Deserving to be on the list - I'd think so.
Comments: Apple was crisp, caramel was not sticky and service was friendly.. although had no experience how to work a gift card.. leaving my lovely Cyndi to have to fork out money.
This is definitely eye candy - both on the apple selection and the ice cream board - full of colours, flavours, toppings, the choices are endless.

I really love chocolate, and this place has chocolate, but it kinda has a plastic taste to it. When you enter,  it smells so sugary that your teeth already hurt from smelling all that sugar!
I sampled their apples, and I dislike them. First of all those apples are huuuuuuge, where the f did you get them?! Organic? I don't think so!
I tried rice crispy bark, oreo bark, cashew cluster, rocky pop popcorn, other milk and dark chocolate with caramel and different add ons, and even their ice cream! Everything was meh, nothing special. Too sugary, and you can't really taste good quality chocolate! Ice creams are so heavy and loaded with sugar. Nothing sublime and heavenly here!
The only good thing about this place is that you get a card, and collect points which give you special deals and money on your card! Which is really good, because you can buy tons and tons of chocolate boxes as gifts, and get some money back on it too:D I just go there to buy chocolate as a gift. My personal choice for chocolate is Thomas Haas!!! Sometimes Purdys, and Daniel - Le chocolate belge which is really close to Rocky Mountain Chocolate.

I walked by without giving in to temptation the first time. I did not manage it a second. Although there was so much i wanted to try - i gave in to a marbled crunch candy chocolate-caramel candy apple. Yum Yum. Just under $10 it was pricey - but i would totally try another one in a heart beat.
And, well, to be honest, it was worth it just for the photo-op.

Apparently I am a sweet, sweet, sugar mama. Every weekend when I am downtown with the BF he turns into a five year old and cries for me to buy him candy. This weekend I was trapped between an out of town guest who wanted Japadog and a crying 36 year old turned 5.

I have to admit, walking by this place is hazardous! I just want to bottle up the sweet smell of sugary goodness and take it home with me and then marinade myself in it. SMELLS LIKE CANDY!!

The BF picked out his treat of choice, which was a candy apple for just over $7, and the staff were kind enough to cut the apple into slices, so I took one slice as payment for being such a good sugar mama. Considering how sweet the store smelled, I was expecting to be overwhelmed by so much sugar that I would be able to feel my teeth slowly rotting, but the tartness of the green apple and the sweetness of the caramel coating actually cancelled eachother out, making the combination pretty close to perfect. It probably helped that the apple was cut up, cuz I imagine if you were to just bite into the apple you would just get a mouthful of sugar. And then once the apple was naked you would probably throw it out, at least I would, since I would be so hopped up on sugar anyways. Keep in mind, I am the girl with all the cavities who sees her dentist as much as some people see their hairdresser. So it's probably a good idea for me to steer clear of this place.

When I first started living in Vancouver part-time, we were lucky enough to be in a hotel just around the corner from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.  My waist-line never suffered because I simply cut out a meal from the day in order to accommodate my RMCF addiction. Crazy you say?  Maybe, but if you've been and had one of the many caramel and chocolate dipped apples, covered in gummy bears, Oreo cookies and anything else you can think of, you'd be trying my RMCF diet too.  The smell wafting from the store onto Robson and the incessant samples given out will be more than enough to get you to step in and feast your eyes and mouth on boxed chocolates, made-on-the-spot fudges, chocolate covered strawberries and gourmet ice cream.

The name alone is a mouthful. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. The name also says it all. The specialty is chocolate but they're so much more than that. With trays of freshly made sugary treats teasing you from inside the storefront, I dare you to walk by without giving it a second look, or a third and fourth one. And there's always some friendly person standing out front, giving out samples! For the faint of heart, you're better off walking on the opposite side of the street.

If you happen to be walking or shopping along Robson Street, be sure to stop outside the window of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and watch as the chocolate makers within whip up fresh batches of gooey caramel apples, velvety fudge, and crunchy brittles right before your eyes -- then snatch some up to take home with you!

We decided to stop in to see if the caramel apples here are any good.  So far, the store in Monterey is still the best.  Plus, if you buy two at the Monterey branch, you get the third one for free!  The almond covered caramel apple here in Canada was $7.00 CAD plus tax.  We would never have suspected that a caramel apple would be that expensive since the ones in California are only about $4.00 USD.  The apple was tasty, but not worth it.  Save your money for a truly Canadian treat.  Skip the one in Old Sacramento, too.

I have to say that even though I rarely go the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory near where I live, I always stop by this one when I'm on Robson.  Maybe it's the whole 'being a tourist' thing.  But really, what's not to like?  (Aside from their prices.)  The shop smells delicious, and their caramel coated apples look sooo good.  With all those different flavors it's hard not to want to buy them all, or at least walk out without one of them.  Though, the price is more than you would want to spend, but hey, it will be yummy, be reassured of that.

i was in Vancouver around January. for work and had some spare time with the girls to roam around on robson. we passed by this place and i was immediately in love and attach to the caramel chocolate apple bear they had in the window. it was tooo cute to passed up. they have this store back home but i know for a fact the dont have the caramel apple in the bear shape holding a big chocolate heart with " i love u" on it.  Its basically two apple that forms the bear head and body, marshmallow for its arms and legs and chocolate ears and eyes. i bought it and took it back home for my bf.... he loved it so much.. too bad his ears was crush off while in my bag and the caramel oozed out and the marshmallow expanded while we were in the air.. but all in all after we landed it was back to its normal shape but had cracks in it.. but never the less it was still yummy.. for Vday i called the rocky mountain back home and they dont have this bear.. actually the guys told me he never even seen it before.. how sad!
